Okay, so what has been impressed upon me thus far this format is that the fact that removal is at such a premium that a plethora of creature deck strategies are dominating the game. A few pieces of removal have impressed me, however, thus far in testing and tournaments, namely, Draconic Roar and Titan's Presence. My suggestion is that we cooperate to build a list that enables these fantastic and under-used pieces of early interaction to survive the early game and punish our opponents by going over the top. I have this much thus far in mind. Would love to hear thoughts, suggestions, lists of your own, etc.
Hopefully, you never have to actually play Scion of Ugin, but the fact that it turns on our 8 high quality removal spells is fantastic. I was wondering whether or not a From Beyond engine ought to be included. It would put us in green, adding Dragonlord Atarka to the mix. It would also just ramp us and possibly hold up in the early game. I have no idea what all else ought to be in here, though. Also thinking that some number of Ugin the Spirit Dragon wouldn't hurt.
Running Scion of Ugin seems really bad if all it does is get revealed for both Titan's Presence and Draconic Roar. As you said, you pretty much are hoping not to have to play it, so I can't imagine that it's a good card choice. Also, your suggestion of From Beyond is OK, but you have to understand that turn 4 is not the early game, so it doesn't do anything to help you "hold up" in first four turns against aggro. Since Draconic Roar doesn't need a dragon to kill creatures, maybe it's better to focus on running more colorless creatures for Titan's Presence and run a few dragons as finishers that can potentially give you the bonus damage from Draconic Roar? I like Dragonlord Atarka as the finisher dragon of choice. Maybe running Rattleclaw Mystic can help you with the ramp a little. As for the colorless creatures, you can go in an artifact-based direction, or you can try something like Conduit of Ruin and Oblivion Sower. I just think you don't have to bend so much to trying to get Draconic Roar to deal it's bonus damage that you have to run something like Scion of Ugin.
Control is probably a horrible matchup. So I'm definitely thinking of dedicating some serious sideboard slots to that. Starting with the other 2 copies of Retreat to Emeria, another copy of Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger, and then I don't quite know what else.
