Surely a monstrous ember swallower is your win card
I'd take out the hydras, skylasher, and boon satyr. They don't do anything for your strategy. You have enough finishers between Sylvan Primordial, and Ember Swallower. Maybe add that enchantment where it deals damage to them everytime they tap a non-basic land?
You will be vulnerable for the first 3-4 turns though. Maybe more spot removal or sweepers?
I would play anger of the gods and mizzium mortars. anger of gods is a cheap board wipe and mortars can be used as an early removal or an late game sweeper
There's Nessian Demolok also (he destroys a "noncreature permanent"---which of course, includes lands!).

that's not what happened at all. kamahl stabbed phage, akroma, and some old lady and they became korona. then korona got stabbed by her "prophets" and kamahl got drunk with a mutant centaur
Unfortunately, Nessian Demlock will generally just be a 6/6 for 5 in that case which isn't really that amazing. I think primeval bounty may be the way to go as you'll be ramping there anyway and sticking one will give them a pretty strict clock in which to recover. But ultimately, you'll likely have to ember swallower to take them out.
Then replace the Sylvan Caryatids with whatever cheap ramp you have available, and Stormbreath Dragon with whatever fat you have available. From my experience with LD in the days of old, acceleration is the key. Since the format has gotten faster and LD has gotten slower, it's even more important. To that end, I think Mistcutter is actually good in the deck, since you want to drop all that mana into something and you need a fast clock. I'd also be hesitant to go lower on the threat count. You might be able to get away with it, but you need the defense against weenie/aggro/swarm and doomblade is a mere 2 mana.
Worth noting, even if you burn out mana dorks, G/R monsters can drop Polukranos before your first LD spell, especially on the play. Mono-b can drop Thoughtseize into Desecration Demon before your first LD spell. Neither situation is something you can really dig out of and both decks are very, very common
You'll never drop the demlock before LD spells, so your opponent will certainly not forgo tribute. Either way, we're out of control in a deck that has very few threats and a short window. That said, this is the budget forum, so he could still see play in that list over Stormbreath. We're just looking for a solid finisher in the 4 to 6 mana range (that won't break the bank). Arbor Colossus and Ruric Thar, the Unbowed are both super cheap and outlive mizzium mortars.
Mizzium Mortars and Doomblade are a problem, since both can sneak in between LD spells easily.
Mhm. That was my point. There's plenty of cheap, better bombs for the same cost or near the same gost. Demlock is simply bad because when times are the worst, it won't do what you want (like when they have creatures but no lands, you have a 3/3) and when its at its best, trying to be a finisher, its still weaker than arbor colossus which is filthy cheap. And yes, if you go up one mana more, Ruric Thar does the job like a champ. So the possibility of a spare land destruction is meaningless if the practical tribute's best reasonable outcome (barring a stupid opponent) is worse than something that is basically an upgraded version of the demlock's best mode. If acidic slime was in standard, we'd totally play it here because we know what it'll do. But Demlock isn't very amazing in either mode unless you could pick. Since your opponent does, not you, to be good, both modes have to be particularly threatening and cost effective.
I like Ruric in this deck for the most part.. but he's just too situational. LD works best when you get a threat down and keep them off of their removal color while you swing away. Or, in the case of aggro, keep them off of their monster color and below the mana count necessary to stick bigger threats. Ruric makes pulling that off pretty difficult for us.
Well, if you're keeping them down, Ruric just forces them to get that big threat out real quick... And forces it to be DD or arbor colossus. Or a removal spell they'd take 6 for. The speed of the clock and the more narrow variety of answers makes that a bit more reasonable.
I'm definitely going to test him. He may just seal the deal, no questions asked. My fear is that my life total requires I hold back on LD and removal while he's out.. then they recompose, eliminate him and I've lost my momentum. So we'll see.
I don't think so. It'll take them a little time to deal with him. So they play DD and they block. And in the next turn, you nail them with 2 LD spells. Another big plus is that you can set up ember swallower while Thar is going...
Stormbreath Dragon really has a good synergy with Land Destruction Decks. With your opponent lacking lands, their hands will almost always remain full. Going monstrous with it and could swing for lethal (a total of 14 damage).

The idea being destroy their lands bounce stuff back to their hands stop them from casting stuff draw lots of stuff till you get to one of your 4 win cards keep destroying lands and win with 9/9 krakens
He has to have that ramp for it to work. If you don't start destroying lands till turn 4, it'll be too late. A better try is mana dorks, land destruction, mizzium mortars (remember those dorks? We can overload it), and a finishing package. Kind of iffy still but you need to be able with decks that just hit the ground sprinting and need a way to catch up after your land destruction before you can really get ahead from it.
Land Destruction cards:
Mana ramps:
Creatures:
Other spells:
Clan Defiance
Cards that steal control of creatures
Ratchet Bomb
Need ideas as to what else to put into the deck. Really want it to be based around the land destruction first.
