I am sic to my stomach that I can't be there today. I'm from dallas, livin in arlington... but I had to go out of town this weekend.
I think... its not right to downplay them so hard, until of course you've played on camera for all to see. Its a different type of pressure than being in front of our computers.
Tons of misplays. The momoblue plaer in round 3 I believe could have killed his opponent but got sloppy and gave his opponent another turn to draw Gray Merchant.
The guy with Gruul ramp missed an important attack and also didn't use his Reveler planeswalker one turn. He also pumped his Nylea thinking it had trample to try to win...his opponent didn't realize he could stay alive, draw a merchant and probably win, but scooped instead.
The Esper player created an unwinnable situation when he revelationed correctly, there were also some really strange attacks.
I would make mistakes too, but hopefully not this bad!

Its easy to say you wouldnt make those mistakes but you just never know, especially on camera.
The Esper vs UW match made me cringe. UW guy lets Esper thoughtseize him when he had an Aetherling and Elspeth in Hand even though he had Dissolve and another counter I think. Once he let it resolve I knew the game was over since Elspeth wasnt going to win it. It would seem that the UWX Mirror Matches pretty much always revolve around a resolved Aetherling winning the game.
Yeah I saw The Round with the GR player just not attacking for no reason at all for multiple turns, which as a green player just made me cry inside.
Then the next round the Esper player just not putting the UW player out of his misery, but instead decides to play longer and draw a whole bunch of cards when he could of you know actually just win the game.

ROFL fairly positive that wasn't lethal... he should be at 2 and at least get to draw.
That said, he did scry last turn so maybe he knew it wasn't something that could save him - but if that was the case why didn't he bottom it? Hmm... strange end to the match.
True, but just because someone is watching me drive does not mean I forget how to drive my car.
The comparison doesn't really fit though. Are you competing against others for a reward when you're driving? Adding in a reward, competition, and spectators is a lot of pressure and a lot of different things for your mind to keep track of during a game.

The world is on fire
and you are here to stay and burn with me.
Me too. I mostly avoid these threads now, all they've become is a place to point out every single mistake these players make.
I bet you nobody posting here plays 100% perfectly, watching a match is infinitely different than playing it.
On the subject of the tournament I'm stoked to see Boros aggro put two people in the top 8. Sucks they both got knocked out, but it's nice to see it wasn't a one week thing.

Nykthos claims another victim, will be interesting to see just how powerful this land will be going forward.
Is it wrong for me to say that I "PERSONALLY" want that thing banned.
I mean no ones going to agree with that but if I never had to see it again, it'd be too soon.
3 land = 18 mana, and seeing it fully take advantage of the New Legend Rules, is pretty sickening and not in a good way.
Maybe bannings to extreme but I'd like a way to interact with, before it goes off at least.
Thats really what makes it sooo strong, you can't DO anything about the thing. Pithing Needle: Misses it, Land D: Doesn't exist in a form that does anything to it.
I'm almost surpised no ones started throwing fireballs with it. "Dome you for 20?".
Sigh. Still congrats to the Mr. Hall of dallas.
He definitely navigated the meta well.
Which I feel like is more important than anything else right now in standard. Navigating the meta well.
end rant.

It's pretty ridiculous but at the same time you can take out their devotion and it really helps against the Shrines. If you let it get outta hand though, it's going to be over quickly. They can drop their hand, garruk, get a new hand, drop it again. Silly...

I'm waiting for these G/R decks to throw in a clan defiance as a one or two of. Am I the only one who thinks this card would be bonkers in this deck.

Your extreme amount of sarcasm is noted.
The Boros player playing this round is awful...
Currently Playing:
I don't even know right now.
Will be interesting to see how well slower decks do in general since aggro seems to be everywhere.
There is no excuse for missing a Chandra's phoenix trigger.

Cash? Credit? Gold? or Jace?

Esper will meet its Downfall(hehe) against aggro. That much is clear
........................
I would think so. I've seen Kibler sideboard it in his Fear the Reaper deck.
