An idea I've been toying around with. I think it might have potential. I'm not sure if the Gyre Sages are a good fit though. I think I might take those out for some arbor elves now that I think about it. Earlier and more reliable ramp.
I have a similar deck... I tried using the Gyre Sages in mine, and they turned into being almost useless cards for me all the time. Elvish Archdruid serves as more than enough mana generation, I think.
Anyway... The Geist and Wolf are awesome cards in their own right... but, I think you should really consider Arbor Elves, they fit the theme of elves, and they help ramp you a little bit. Also, you deck looks like it suffers from similar to what mine does: Not enough removal.
That said, I'm not sure what I should put in place of my Spire Tracer... I like the card... but, not enough.
Yeah I know what you mean. I was thinking maybe some rapid hybidizations buy at the same time it can be pretty so-so too in my experience. I want to like gyre sage but it just feels like she needs to perfect of a set up to be worth it.
I've been having alot of fun with Gyre sage but I run 4 increasing savagery. I'm also running 4 fathom mage. I run Akroma's Memorial instead of Rancor, as my deck often goes big.
I've been toying the idea around of making an Elf deck for the longest time this Standard season and this has me thinking. You could do the Primal Surge->Craterhoof Behemoth, but to protect your guys for the ramp I would feel you would have to run some protection like syncopate/plasm capture. I don't really know if it's a good idea if you flip that with Surge.
Or maybe use Gridlock for a more controlling build? You should always have tons of mana, tap everything down their turn, then swing in the next? I'm not really sure. But it's certainly interesting. Gyre Sage seems difficult to evolve with since all the elves would be 1/1 or 2/2 until you get Biomancer online.
I did some play testing last night with it at almost full capacity, just missing the archdruids and the lands. It seemed to do okay, like has been stated before the biggest problem is removal. Hands of Binding works pretty well so long as I can get through but once they get a couple fatties out it loses its steam and I resort to using my simic charms for psudo removal. Any suggestions for true solutions?
You played JESUS?!?! I heard none of his guys stay in the graveyard, and once you think you have him beat he ALWAYS comes back to win within three turns. I like...WORSHIP him.
I defiantly don't have the mana base available to run Bant lol. I'm a poor schmuk and buying my 4th biomancer and the archdruids is gonna be a bit of a stretch. I'm not planning on taking this to tournaments, just some tabletop magic with friends. I do like the idea of Bant elves though.
oh I am poor, well a cheapskate although my car just broke down so there goes my money.
I just like building decks sometimes I design ones I can't afford.... Although I enjoy the challenge of building with montery restrictions as well.
Beck is a good choice... Soul of the harvest does a similar thing but on a big creature. you need to keep fueling your hand to just dump creatures onto the battlefield.
I don't really have to worry about running into any board wipes in my meta, most people around here like turn creatures sideways. My biggest issues is dealing with big fatties. Since Hands of Binding doesn't work unless I get through, which is why I'm really considering putting in Spire Tracers in place of the Young Wolves.
4x Arbor Elf
2x Craterhoof Behemoth
4x Elvish Archdruid

4x Master Biomancer
4x Rancor
4x Spire Tracer
4x Zameck Guildmage
2x Cyclonic Rift
4x Simic Charm
Land:
4x Breeding Pool
13x Forest
7x Island

Pretty explodey, but the problem is that leaves the deck without any removal, or way to get creatures through until you resolve that spell.
My 180 Modern Bordered Only Cube
Basically Trostani's summoner is an elf if you have a deck that gets 7 mana fast and also runs Master Biomancer that is 1 heck of an army.
White also opens up Village bellringer shenaigans and you can use Call if you have to. resto angel is also pretty amazing as always.

Arbor elf + forest + verdant haven... all of the mana
there is one problem.... Supreme verdict how likely are you to run into one?.

I think my deck needs more removal so this doesn't happen again.
The 4 on his wurms is numbers and not counters like it is for my creatures. 22 attackers to my measly 13 defenders.
