*** BACKGROUND ***
As some of you know, I've been toying with a ETB-themed deck featuring Roaring Primadox, and my first FNM didn't go so well. I began reflecting on the results and realized the deck was lacking key elements, so I went back to the drawing board. I realized that Roaring Primadox was being misused. He's not a card that you base a deck on necessarily. Instead, he acts as a compliment to a decklist that would be extremely powerful with him on the field but could also be strong without him. To this end, the best fit for Roaring Primadox is in a tempo deck. That is, not a deck that's purely aggro or purely control, but a mix of the two much like Delver.
This is by no means a Delver deck. It is extremely creature-heavy which immediately separates it from Delver. So how is it tempo if it lacks instants and sorceries? The answer is the synergistic effects of the creatures and their effect on board state. Alone, these creatures are ineffective, but with three or more on the board at one time, they become very scary to our opponent. Left alone over time, they overwhelm our opponent and leave him with no answer as we capitalize on our card advantage. Indeed, that is the focus of this deck - to generate significant card advantage over time by making strategically favorable attacks. If you like attacking with creatures that have first strike, trample, and deathtouch all on one creature, killing beefy creatures with puny 1/1 tokens, and being able to control the board state in general, you're in for a real treat. I present Tracker Tempo.
*** DECKBUILDER'S NOTES *** Ulvenwald Tracker - the most important cog in the machine. This guy will inevitably attract a lot of attention from our opponent, which could be a blessing in disguise as that leaves some of our other dangerous creatures unchecked. This creature adds a large degree of strategy and control to this deck as will be revealed in subsequent card descriptions. Young Wolf - great fodder for Ulvenwald Tracker, especially since he comes back as a 2/2. Great for pinging with our Primadox to remove the counter, and easy to recast at 1cmc. Nightshade Peddler - deathtouch for our creatures when combined with Ulvenwald Tracker's ability is nasty. Pairing Nightshade Peddler with a token from our Attended Knight and fighting our token with an opponent's fatty is even nastier. Bouncing Attended Knight to our hand with Roaring Primadox and replaying it to get another token and soulbond with Nightshade Peddler for another fight is outright ridiculous and may cause our opponent to flip tables. Nearheath Pilgrim - when Nightshade Peddler isn't around, Nearheath Pilgrim is a great second option, particularly when paired with Attended Night, Roaring Primadox, or Emancipation Angel. If all else fails, pair it with a token before you fight with an opponent's creature to gain one life, or two if Rhox Faithmender is in play. Attended Knight - 3cmc for a 2/2 first striker that brings a 1/1 with her is incredible value. Paired up with Rancor and a Nightshade Peddler makes her practically unblockable unless our opponent wants to block her with five creatures. Emancipation Angel - as discussed in shinbatsu's recent thread, this card is amazing. 3cmc for a 3/3 flier that pings a permanent back to our hand. The WW in the cost could prove a hindrance in the early game, but her power cannot be denied. I personally looked for room to fit her into this deck as she would synergize well given her evasion. On top of that, she makes our Cloudshift that much stronger. Imagine a blocking scenario where we would need to block with two of our creatures, one being the Angel and the other an Attended Knight, that will die without intervention. Since our opponent's creatures have been declared blocked, no damage will go through (assuming no trample), so we then Cloudshift our Angel, she returns, then pings our Attended Knight to our hand to be played next turn, generating a token in the process. No creature dies. In fact, we gain the advantage by generating another token! Mentor of the Meek - every creature in this deck except for Roaring Primadox and Emancipation Angel has power 2 or less. This is a fantastic card-drawing engine, especially in the late game as we get more mana on the field. Rhox Faithmender - a severely underrated card in my opinion. Fantastic against aggro, he can present us with massive amounts of life gain. Toughness 5 makes him extremely difficult to kill as an attacker and blocker and immune to Whipflare and Flames of the Firebrand. Load him up with a Rancor and he's swinging for 3 and gaining six life per turn on his own, not to mention the life gained from whoever Nearheath Pilgrim is paired up with. With this guy and Ulvenwald Tracker in play, he changes the board state immediately and becomes a clock with Rancor and/or Nightshade Peddler on him. Roaring Primadox - 4cmc for a 4/4 makes him extremely valuable. His ability to ping a creature to our hand every turn is icing on the cake. Synergizes amazingly with all the ETB effects in this deck, not to mention extremely helpful in moving around a Rancor or soulbond creature should we want the effect on another creature. An excellent creature for Ulvenwald Tracker and great on the offensive. Cloudshift - should our opponent attempt to mow down one of our creatures with a spell or ability, the joke's on him. Ideally this should be kept in hand to combat such a tactic, and our opponent will be wiping egg off his face when he attempts a kill on our Attended Knight only for it to be Cloudshifted, bringing it and another token with him and allowing us to pay 2 mana to draw two cards with Mentor in play. Above all though, this will most often be protecting our Trackers. Rancor - not a lot to be said here. The best creature enchantment ever printed is absolutely necessary in this deck. Gavony Township - excellent land for the late game to give our creatures +1/+1 counters.
Other possible considerations: Geist-Honored Monk - expensive at 5cmc but excellent for late-game with her flying token generation and power/toughness equal to our creature count. Precursor Golem - another token generator that will be rotating soon but is monetarily a very cheap card. 5cmc cost that generates beefier tokens than our other token generators, but at the cost of all tokens produced by Precursor Golem being vulnerable to spells like Vapor Snag and Flames of the Firebrand. Strangleroot Geist - serves us well with Ulvenwald Tracker, especially since we could bounce them back with our Primadox to remove the counter. GG is a turn-off but with dual-lands I'd be less wary of it.
Sideboard considerations: Knight of Glory - pretty much a shoe-in as at least a 3-of. Can give black decks nightmares. Exalted doesn't hurt either. Safe Passage - protects our low-toughness creatures from Whipflare and the like. Diregraf Escort - protection from Zombies.
Other "protection from" creatures - Riders of Gavony and Mirran Crusader come to mind. Acidic Slime - adding 3 or 4 in the sideboard to combat artifact- and enchantment-heavy decks is advisable. I had this in the mainboard to begin with but I'm not convinced the removal will be necessary there. Oblivion Ring - likely unneccessary in this deck since we are good at removing creatures, and artifact/enchantment removal is taken care of by Acidic Slime. Could be an option if Ulvenwald Tracker generates too much hate for us to depend on him. Also useful against indestructible creatures. 3cmc makes it a closer choice with Acidic Slime. Fiend Hunter - the WW cost is a drawback but he could be useful, particularly against indestructible creatures.
On the chopping block or chopped: Nearheath Pilgrim - I go back and forth on this one as lifegain is covered by Rhox Faithmender and this deck has enough of a control element to possibly negate the need for more lifegain. He's a great 2cmc alternative to Nightshade Peddler if we don't have one on the field though, and works well with our higher power creatures. Ring of Thune - an excellent choice for pumping our white creatures, particularly Rhox Faithmender, Emancipation Angel, and Attended Knight. We lose the counters if we have to Cloudshift, but it's still a powerful card. The vigilance is also an asset. That being said, it is a slow card, and I continually go back and forth on this one. I think the lack of speed is okay because it serves as a clock and that's acceptable given the theme of the deck. Could replace Nearheath Pilgrim at the 2cmc slot. Avacyn's Pilgrim - I'm thinking that we actually don't need ramp in this deck, even with only 22 lands. I had him in my initial iterations but recently swapped him with Young Wolf.
Not-so-budget additions: Thragtusk - just read the card. I would add two and take out an Attended Knight and a higher cmc card. Plop this guy down with Primadox out and your opponent is in big trouble. If Rhox Faithmender also happens to be on the field, keep an eye on your cards as your opponent is likely to flip the table. Restoration Angel - better than Emancipation Angel due to flash, 1 white to cast, better strength/toughness, and flickering our creature instead of pinging it, at the cost of only 1cmc more. Sublime Archangel - makes any creature-heavy deck immediately better. Sunpetal Grove - dual land that could allow us to play WW or GG creatures like Strangleroot Geist and Fiend Hunter with more confidence.
i gotta say your description for each creature in the deck is down right cinematic and motivating. By all means test this deck, you gotta let us know how it turns out.
on paper, you get two thumbs up from me on this.

Think you can make room for some Prey Upon? Its quality when you don't have a tracker out or need to take down 2 in 1 turn. Also I think a good card in the 2cmc slot would be Timberpack Wolf or if you're looking straight ETB effects Timberland Guide could also fill that slot too.

I don't care for Timberland Guide here as I feel we will have more important creatures to bounce. I really want some Prey Upon but I have no idea how I would fit them in.
But, I would rather see Cathedral Sanctifier here than Young Wolf. Would be hilarious with primadox. Gain 3 life every turn!
Nightshade Peddler is a nice touch. And Fight Bear, gotta love it!
EDIT: My gf just reminded me about that, quote "cute little bug with the +1/+1 counter". Oh no, you have to take it to hand and replay it every turn, dealing +1/+1 counters to everyone.
That follows the theme I had going in the previous thread with Primadox ping. Only problem with those is that we need Primadox out for it to be effective. I've built this deck to do well without him on the field.
Cathedral Sanctifier would be cute but Young Wolf is best here because of the card advantage he provides. We hook him to a Nightshade Peddler and throw him at a fatty, trigger undying, and end up with a 2/2. Then if we happen to have Primadox we just bounce him back and continue the process.
When I eventually run this deck I will be including two Thragtusk as I got one in a fat pack and have another in the mail from shinbatsu. So it won't be the $10 budget deck seen here but there will only be two cards that are the difference, and I can't resist the urge to put him in here.
I feel like Timberland Guide should still be considered to help out your mana curve. Attended Knight has been a constant underachiever in my experience so I would personally probably run timberland guide over her. It would help the mana curve but that is just my personal take.

I put this deck together on MTGO (cost was less than 5 tickets, and I believe if you do some smart shopping could get the cost down to less than 4).
I had a lot of fun playing it in the Just for Fun room but I wasn't getting consistent wins against some of the random decks I encountered. Nightshade Peddler was an absolute beast with the soldier tokens and Tracker and Rhox Faithmender with a Rancor was great too. However if those pieces weren't on the board it was easy to lose ground against faster aggro decks or other more controllling mid-range decks. Mind you I didn't play any matches, just single games so perhaps after sideboarding those matches might have played better.
One card that I found hard to play was Emancipation Angel. Maybe I just need more practice with it but everytime I drew the card or wanted to play it, I would lose tempo (or at least I thought I would lose tempo). Mentor of the Meek was another card that I found hard to play mostly because I always tried to keep two mana open for Tracker's fight ability and I rarely had more than 4 or 5 land so I couldn't take full advantage of his card drawing.
I'm considering replacing the Emancipation Angel and/or Mentor of the Meek with Borderland Ranger so I can get more mana on the field. Will help with Primadox tricks I think as it will allow us more open mana for fighting or even activations of Gavony Township
would conjurer's closet be a good option to subtitue emancipation angel? grant it its 5cmc but colorless and a guarenteed blink for another etb trigger at the end of your turn i think its worth it, especially if you don't have Primadox on the board

Closet works well if you can get to 5 cmc reliably, buy really shines with like Captain of the Watch or something that isn't feasible to cast over and over.
Primadox only works well with low cmc creatures otherwise your creature count wont expand until you get excess mana to pay for recasting and new castings.
If I were to take out Emancipation Angel it would probably be for Strangleroot Geist due to the CA it provides and its synergy with Mentor and Primadox.
I have felt we are lacking in bigger creatures that can stand on their own. I think if we were to take out Mentor we should replace it with Soul of the Harvest.
Might be something to look in to, but in that case I would shelf the undying creatures.
You could still bounce the Wolf back with the Primadox before Crusade hit the field. And you could use it after Crusade as a quick cast creature for the +1/+1 counters.
Loyal Cathar would also be interesting to use. Early game it fights, dies, and comes back. Bounce back with Primadox. Rinse, repeat. After Crusade, it's even better. Bounce back with Primadox, cast Loyal Cathar, Crusade triggers, add +1/+1 counters to creatures, before combat fight Cathar against big creature*, Cathar dies and re-enters the battlefield, triggering Crusade again for another counter, swing with Rancor enchanted creatures for big combat damage.
The drawback is his double-white casting cost, which could be a pain to work around. Something to consider at least.
*Since fighting isn't combat, it's not affected by summoning sickness, correct?

I should have read Loyal Cathar first. It returns to the battlefield at the beginning of the next end step, so it wouldn't activate before combat. With the fight mechanic, it could be used on the opponent's step, however, which would trigger the Crusade and beef up creatures for your turn.
Could be worth a try.

I m a huge fan of budget decks and the primadox idea sounded very fun. I really liked the first build in this trend but Rancor is just too expensive in my country, so I took a few steps on my own. Also I m not very fond of lifegaining in this build and mentor is a hell of a draw engine, but I prefer using visionary.
Im feeling uneasy about the lack of finishers and protection against boardwipes in this build. Maybe some ramp with borderland ranger?
I would really appreciate some suggestions.
You are starting to trend toward the build in my other thread. Id take a look there for some tips.
Also, I know Rancor is relatively expensive, but it makes a huge difference in the deck and is very much worth it, especially with it's synergy with Tracker. It really is a necessity.
