Hi, MTGS residents, I just made a new deck and, although I'm not strictly new to magic, I still have a ways to go before I fully understand the various strategems and tactics, especially where type 2 is concerned.
Anyhow, I made this deck and I'd like to get your ideas on how I could improve it and what not. It started off as a mono white weenie that was successful in casual games, but then this guy I know had this mana ramp/lifelink homebrew with Wolfir Silverheart, Wurmcoil Engine, Vault Skirge and various mana rampers. As you can probably guess, it beat me. So I splashed in blue and came up with what I have here.
The cards in the deck are cards I currently have, and while I might be willing to buy new cards based on suggestions I get, I'm by no means a professional, so suggesting an entirely new deck that involves 4x Snapcaster Mage, 2x Sword of War and Peace, 4x Ajani, Caller of the Pride, etc. is not strictly helpful.
So that's it. In a few casual matches, it's been stellar, but those don't really tell me anything about how it would do against the current meta, and I haven't been able to face up against the guy who inspired these changes yet. I am apprehensive. But if all things go well and this ends up being the deck I hope it is, I'll take it to an FNM or something.
All input, positive or negative, is appreciated. Thanks.
I like it very much! My only suggestion could be to try also Wingcrafter and/or Tandem Lookout in order to get the most from a potential Exalted creature. Maybe you could keep out Doomed Traveller if you don't play against a deck full of burning spells, and Leonin Relic-Warder if your opponent's Artifacts and Enchantments aren't problematic...
Hmm, I really like the idea of having two Wingcrafter to replace the two Doomed Traveler since one of my main weaknesses seems to be defending against fliers at times and he fulfills the human requirement for the Champion. On the other hand, Doomed Traveler is a great chump blocker since he dies and gives me a flier so I'll have to play test it.
Not sure about the Tandem Lookout, however. The draw would be nice, but by turn three, I need to start getting my beaters out.
