I lucked into several paper copies of Ob Nixilis, the Fallen early on when Zendikar first came out and thought it was such a sweet card. However I never could seem to find the right deck to make them work. I forgot about them and they sat untouched in my binder for months. Then one day I was mentally trying to think of ways to abuse Primeval Titan and Ob came to mind. Maybe Valakut is the better more reliable way to go. But what's nice with Ob is that you are doing the damage and you additionally have the option to swing for 15 or 21 or 27. The problem with him sticking seems to be helped by his immunity to doom blade which looks to be the top removal post rotation. Good plan, or just a less reliable way to abuse titans?
I've been trying to make a decent B/G Ob deck for some time now. Although I can't really imagine it being super hardcore, I'm sure it can be decent enough.
I'd definitely run 10 fetches and Harrow is always cool in there. Even if they remove Ob, he could still deal a good chunk of damage without swinging.
Yeah, the deck I'm doing right now is sort of a Valakut clone deck with black instead of red. Its some basic ramp, some basic black removal, and then obstinate baloths, ob nixilis, Primeval and Grave Titans, and Avenger of Zendikar. So the pressure is not completely on Ob as there are several win cons Ob being the coolest...
I have a black/green Turboland deck that uses Ob Nixilis. Just look at any Turboland deck, and replace the blue cards with Ob Nixilis and some removal. It might not be worth playing without Pulse anymore, but there's always Doomblade and Consuming Vapors.
