So, we are getting a boost in power level for colors. We saw Ball Lightning and Lightning Bolt. Then, what would be the chances of saying Phyrexian Arena coming back?
Personally, I think it's the card to put Black back on the map, along with The Rack and some decent discard spells and we might find black at the top tables with Arenas on the board, just like the old days. Really, I think that's compeltely plausible.
And, I also see Plow Under coming back, albeit that's more of a stretch, but still a nice thought. Something to go well with Blue... I like Counterspells and Plow Unders in the same deck.
OH GOD pleeeeeease reprint Phyrexian Arena. My Apoc playset is collecting dust in an old pile and they're just begging to be played again.
My B/r Rack deck would be soooo happy :).
Maybe if Arena doesn't make it back, we could definately see some sort of variant on it. Black is definately excellent at drawing cards at the cost of spending resources (mainly life) to do so, and Arena fits the flavor of black so well :).
I don't think it will be back because they don't want to print cards where you lose life. New players supposedly hate losing life and this set is geared toward new players. I would like if they reprinted it though because it is the next best thing to Bob.

Dirty ape... Few things for me to point out.
1: The set isn't being designed for newbies
2: Nothing would stop them from printing cards with life loss as costs. Don't like paying life for it? Don't play black.
3:When they talked about new players and life they meant that new players don't like paying life to make a land functional. In other words pain and shock lands didn't work for them.

Do we actually know that?... I haven't read that anywhere.
...people on the speculation forums tend to know a lot of things that never actually happened/end up happening.

Agree with CrimsonEdge. Besides, if newbies don't like loosing life for things, they can trade me all of their Arena-varients for cheap. Cheep-Cheep-Newbie-Chicks.
Oh I hope they do, it would really make my day. I don't think it's anywhere near too powerful, and if L-Bolt and Duress are making a come back, I see no reason why Arena can't. It would definitely help to make Black a power again, and not just a splash color.
