Today’s story was the first of the latest Innistrad stories (so far) to not have pacing issues.
The story was good though it didn’t seem to explain why Chandra ‘dressed to kill’ in a formal gown.
If she (as a +1 or small cadre) accompanied Sorin at the festivities in the barely hidden guise of ‘witnessing’ the occasion, then I could be convinced of the change in appearance.
But that’s not what happened, nor has it been explained why or how she got the dress.
If anything, she’s about to lead a bunch of human allies and soldiers into battle.
I mean, who does that IN HEELS??
That and the flavor text with Arlinn being the one to object to the wedding. Having the flavor not match the story is a weird way to avoid spoilers from having the set come out before the story.
RIGHT?!??

Looks likes all those wanting the other archangels to be reborn/return will be disappointed.
let me put it this way
is liesa evil from the demons/revenge thirsty from her death…… not even close it looks like she severely regretted doing that and even saved a human and killed the demon she made the deal with. (Well not kill more like prevent him from resurrecting at all)
I smell a easy redemption arch for her and also reunited with Sigarda and helping her and the Gatewatch/Arllin and somewhat sorin to stop Olivia and her wedding in crimson vow.
I definitely see her helping in Crimson Vow, but less of a redemption arc. I don't think she really was shown to need redeeming in the first place. She did something Avacyn didn't like, but Avacyn was not infallible, Avacyn was blinded by the drive to wipe out the darkness without compromise, Leisa had the same goal of bringing goodness, she just tried to be smarter about it.
As someone who identifies as black/white I get this angel and I agree.
Darkness is a tool, that can be controlled for good like any other.
It’s like Commander Waterford’s death at the hands of his victims in the Handmaid’s Tale. I still believe there has to be a process to ascertain guilt and keep everything measured but I can’t deny that there’s power in our darker selves, power to do much good.
Sometimes- nice just ain’t ‘nuff.

I dunno why but these Innistrad stories seem kinda Campy so far.
I think it’s due to the passing and lack of depth to some of the wider storytelling elements.
Everyone has heard of or knows one another already. Character knowledge or motivations are sometimes left unexplained or vague.
it’s like the unfinished sketch of visuals/scenes meant for a movie (or Netflix show…) to flesh out more fully with derper dialogue, combat and world building.
The internal Arlin conflict wasn’t bad, though the resolution seemed a bit simplistic as every werewolf obeyed regardless of their upper hand.
I haveca fart time believing that all Teferi really ended up doing was literally slowing down the sunset. I think he could’ve been more than a match for a few werewolves.
He’s an archmage and with an oldwslkers’s arsenal of tricks n skills. Still powerful despite the mending. He could’ve been a real match for Sorin as well.

I understand for brevity’s sake why they can’t go into greater detail on the Gatewatch’s travels through Innistrad but as someone who’s had GM’d a D&D campaign that visited the plane, let me tell ya, a lot can happen over 6-7 days of travelling; especially in a realm of gothic horror, where ‘light only exists to cast a shadow’.
what inns did they stay in? How did the Gatewatch feel returning back? Did they seriously up and leave Thraben a post-apocalyptic death-trap post-Travails, even with a necromancer and pyromancer in tow??
The least they could’ve done was clean up the mess before they left.
Animated and gathered the battle’s dead & given them a fair & fiery Rest.
That would have saved the surviving villages a lot of refugees to manage and take care of and preserved the city and its property for the survivors.
Maybe I’m getting too old for this game but one would think these would be things rational people would do and consider if the rest of the worldbuilding is to be believed.
I’m also disliking how all the planeswalkers seem to know one another without explaining how. Yes they know people who have interacted with the characters in question but wouldn’t that be make for some interesting dialogue and story material.
I’d love to hear of these briefings, even if only through breadcrumbs. It reminds me of the interaction between Nissa and Nahiri on Zendikar.
Nissa witnessed the influence of Nahiri on Zendikar but we never saw Jace conclusively determine that the Travails was instigated by a bitter member of The Three. And if he did, did he tell Nissa??

My guess is that it has something to do with the Celestus, since that ***** fixes the balance between day and night. The ritual to bring back the day will probably fail based on Olivia's ambush, but it will generate enough light energy to ressurect Liesa.
I like this theory. It’s simple yet perfectly demonstrates how Green can sometimes infer what problems and solutions are without fully understanding both their details and/or consequences.

It looks like Olivia wrecks everything by killing the headwitch, then casually invites the cast to her wedding, leading the gang (or at least the story) to the great nuptial celebration/story conclusion.
cuz it’s all about her.
Not gonna lie, I really love to hate that woman.
Just…SOMEBODY STAB HER WITH A STAKE ALREADY!!

Yup! Though maybe it wouldn’t have been as bad since there’d be no insanity-causing cosmic horrors.
Like a planar Dark Barony with angels to enforce the vampires will, and killing as they did.
