These dark blue borders are a sweet idea. If they were to do something like that, suddenly all my critics would vanish (the holostamp is really not distinctive enough imo).
I'd be fine with them looking like magic cards, being mechanically unique, featuring other IPs, etc... as long as they're part of their own format, and the blue borders would be ideal to notify that.
And just like Silver borders which are sometimes accepted in EDH, you could see some of these cards being played in "normal" EDH if the table is ok.
That'd be a win-win, really. Heck, having Sauron fighting Ronald MacDonald alongside Rick and Spongebob Pants actually sounds like fun, what I DON'T want to see is a Collected Company dropping a Thalia and Bilbo Baggins into play in any of our traditional formats.
I know but here’s the thing though.
now some you refuse to believe this but Mark said countless time silver border point to print stuff mechanic wise impossible to print
Everybody just needs to let it go and move on, it’s over, mtg is finally joining the crossover trend. If you can adapt keep playing if you can't quit.
The fact is you see most of the post online being negative but your gonna hate this but no matter where you go it's always minor no matter what website you go. Why do you think TWD secret lair is the best-selling one in the first place, and why Some of the complaints barely get heard till around a year later.
Why are you gatekeeping people's opinions?
I'm not, I'm just saying this war is going nowhere, neither side is winning it's just “fire with fire” as they say.
so I apologize if I sounded like I'm gatekeeping I definitely don't want to do that. I'm my defense the same can be said for positive stuff about it everything as well

Wow, people are so hurt by this, basically the equivalent of 10 years old arguing over which is the better console. You remind me of the bullies which used to mock other kids because of their hobbies.
And it is going to be even more shocking when this products have a large success and you see new players coming with their UB cards.
When all is said and done this products will bring new players, hope they are engaged and get more in to magic, I am going to welcomed them because sharing a hobby is nice, looking forward to teach them about the 25 years of magic history.
this on endless levels
and Easily a would allow the crossover cards and to go one step further maybe even make new commander decks with them
it Just accrued to me people are defend legacy/vintage why defend 2 formats that I hear is practically a ghost town of people in all stores outside tournament play so where do these legacy/vintage decks come from if barely anybody plays those formats anymore?
as i mentioned several time BFZ and forward story’s have been thumbs down vast majority
and are member count here and other sites with approximate grand total of MTG players nearly every single one is >1% of all players to be 1% it has to be around 350K since there 35 million PLUUUSS players And that so with all complaints are you absolutely positive it's the vast majority of the community?
I've thought it through and I'm taking a break from the game and from the lore for a while.
We'll see how long it lasts as my investment in the game is pretty ingrained by now, but I can't help thinking that I possibly care about and prioritize Magic's setting and storyline at a deeper level than the staff (or at least the upper management) at WotC.
And that's not healthy.
There are loads of other franchises, series, and fandoms that do just as good, if not better jobs at developing engaging and consistent narratives.
Simply put: This game is not for me.
your choice but like I asked earlier why defend the storyline when ever since BFZ going forward especially war of the spark aftermath story it’s vast majorly is “boooooo”
the one and only reason it got interesting again is the phyrexians are finally coming back.
To be honest the story in MTG only got bad the moment the game put more focus on Planeswalkers as critical to the story. Alpha until Gatewatch was the best time story-wise. The new stuff just seems so...Marvel.

People here seem to not get that not every product is for you. I hate lord of the rings but im not going to tell everybody I play with that they can't play with me and my friends even though the cards they have are official black bordered magic cards. Not allowing those people to play with you potentially gets rid of their only way to play magic.
Selfish.
Exactly for me
And as for the “not every product is for you” thing forget it every time we point that out to anyone on the internet they always call it a excuse even though it’s true
actually you know what the mtg fans have blood on their hands why defend the mtg universe when recently vast majority of people are saying they hate the lore for sets since BFZ with the whole gate-watch thing
It would be so wrong to not allow the “universe beyond” cards in game stores/play groups of commander just because some people can't accept fact that mtg is finally after 20 years joining the cross-over trend in a form of black border and countless companies have done cross-over
basicly It wouldn't be fair for the new players of this generation of magic that’s why I’m willing to adapt if this is what it’s becoming
so you want a solution just convince the rules committee to make two different commander formats one with the UB cards with mtg cards and one without UB cards
To me the concept isn't bad (though why Warhammer 40,000k and not Warhammer Fantasy Battles or Warhammer Age of Sigmar? Can we get guns on Ixalan now?). The problem for me is how saturated will it be with these products? and will it take the place of our yearly Commander product? (I hope not, Its our way of getting other story characters).
To me, its great until it gets to the point that at the average gaming session that I'm playing against more non-Magic Commander decks than Magic ones.
I'm with that I can accept crossovers as long as it just doesn't overthrow magic (which it shouldn't in my opinion)
and the commander decks i don't think we need to worry about that for one the standard set is doing those slightly weaker ones now
and im gonna throw the honest thruth it was right there in front of your portal three kingdoms isn't that technically a crossover set? (its pretty much this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Kingdoms isn't it?)
well I'm gonna be honest here I can somewhat adapt
the Warhammer 40k (and maybe a couple of others) thats probably as close as we're gonna get for a space-themed/Sci-fi set plus it is one of the most popular miniature games in the world
and honestly, I'm mean, forgive me but I would like the Godzilla monsters again but with more proper power and toughness because they felt tiny and didn't fit me
Seems like Magic is just gonna become like that old Marvel/Image/DC game Overpower.
They say these won't be Standard legal, as if that wasn't already a "D'uh!" - but I just hope these cards aren't good enough to sneak into Legacy or be prevalent in EDH. (I assume they won't be Modern Legal, like the Walking Dead cards.)
I already got bad news for involving commander
commander decks is how warhammer 40k is crossing over
and can you give another example that isn't the cheese stands alone/Barren glory? and Super-Duper Death Ray/Flame spill? (Trample on instant/Sorcery impossible in black.) and pretty much nothing else from Unstaple and forward?
in other words, I'm aware of this, Maro mention this Unstaple and Forward is somewhat more on test pilot territory
Edit: target Minotaur example it’s not black because you picked a card with 4 different arts
I know but here’s the thing though.

plus every time they claimed this is gonna killed it they have been wrong every single time

mtg joining the cross-over trend is just gonna be joining the list of “claims of mtg is dead but doesn't list”

it takes quite a bit of money for wizards needs to pay the IP to even join
