The simplest path between two points is a straight line, and as such to that end, the answer is simply to build a better deck, and learn to improve your own abilities. Learning comes with time, I suggest rather than obsessing over the L, to simply make the L work for you. A loss doesn't feel like a loss if you learn something, no?
