What's so bad about "futuristic fantasy?" FFXV and even FFVII did it quite well without deviating too far from the genre.
If anything I think a visit to a "modern" Kamigawa would be interesting, to see how the transitional progress happened following the Kami War.

It's just a matter of personal preference. I'm not a fan of futuristic fantasy. Never have been. Likely never will be. I'll take the feudal, 'Warring States' period Japan over a fantastical-futuristic Japan any day of the week. Yakuza-shinobi? No thanks.
The very title kinda even puts me on edge as it reminds me of garish 21st century streets lit with corporate advertising.
I bought my first MtG deck as a kid with my brother during original Mirrodin and I was pretty confused at the differences between the Invasion singles I had collected so far and this weird metallic planet.
I've come to 'slightly' appreciate Mirrodin since then for bringing back MtG's archetypal villain Phyrexia but I'm still not much of a fan of futuristic fantasy in MtG.
During Kaledesh all I wanted to do was to see the rest of the plane beyond the metal and filigree of the big city.
I accept that my tastes could very well be in the minority but if we return to Kamigawa and it is indeed futuristic and neon-lit, I'm likely gonna mentally flee to the furthest reaches of the Takenuma Swamp.
Hello darkness, My old friend.
That being said, I would fully support others' enjoyment of it and not all sets need appeal to my own tastes. There are more non-futuristic planes than otherwise, and I think I just have a vendetta against artifacts.

It just rumored today and almost instantly there’s a whole bunch of supports to this being legit
and for those who hate this major set change from old Japanese mythology to a tron/cyberpunk plane reminder the kamigawa we all know (that we drafted at the time) was 1000 years ago in the lore this is present era
I kinda hope not. While I'm all for returning to Kamigawa, I'm not a huge fan of mtg being too 'futuristic'. Kaladesh and New Phyrexia are as modern and technologically advanced as I'd want to go and sometimes even they push the boundaries too far in my opinion.
