A whale collects and doesnt play or plays modo/arena where are always player.. At this point papermagic is a collectors item first and a game second. Have you ever checked baseball cards or stamps
I was "cracking" packs of baseball and football cards maybe before you were born in the mid to late 70's. Also dabbled in coin and stamps as well but they didn't hold my interest long. Still am sitting on lots of cards that spiked in value in the 90's then tanked after they did what WotC is doing right now. I've seen this before, its happening again. I am a player of Magic first, a collector second. Lots of whales that play out there to flaunt their collections. Hey its their money. It doesn't mean I have to like it though.

In my pov they do good buisness rn. Ofc it upsets the poor, but they will spend less in their lifetime than whale in a week, so who cares?
Until the low end and middle section consumers outright quit buying and the whales can't peddle or play with anyone but themselves and the whole game collapses on itself as the whales grow bored and find something else. So yeah, the whole 80 to 90 percent of general playership cares about this if they are truly paying attention.

Classic short term vs. long term planning. It will catch up to Hasbro/WotC sooner than later. Pretty soon the whales will get full enough, take their money elsewhere and the whole thing will collapse. Maybe then we can reclaim the game via an ownership that is driven by fans and a playerbase. I'd like to also bring up that if you buy 100 packs either sealed or the singles from this set you are part of the problem, not the solution.

Scariest part is "Out of Stock". Yep 100 dollar boosters sold out. Push the envelope again next round 200 dollar boosters, 1000 dollar boosters, 50,000 dollar boosters. Again why the hell not? Morons are evidently buying these.
Commander legends better not be above $10 a pack when it’s release (there’s a foil in all the packs is where the worry comes in)
Don't worry, they will be. They are going to milk Commander players as hard as they can. And Commander players will gripe as they buy it all up.

Well well, what do we have here? Hang on to your seats, for the low low price of $92,5 each, you can get 4 VIP boosters!
Fancy a draft, anyone?
100 dollar boosters? Why the hell not? Sanity has left town.

If the packs are more than $15/pack I don't see this set selling too many boxes or packs any time soon. We are in a global recession but Wizards are ramping up the products this year instead of scaling down, between Core 21, Secret Lair drops, Double Masters and we just had Ikoria come out that's about 4 new sets of cards in just 3 months, let's not forget Jumpstart, whenever that will come out.
Funny enough with box’s at 300 that actually makes packs about 12.5 when a single one is 16 so it's better to get a box as crazy as it sounds
Crazy??? Its always been that way. Individual booster price is always better when you buy a box over individual packs. Now I can understand if someone doesn't have 300 bucks to pop down on a BB. The problem is a BB shouldn't be 300 bucks for just 24 packs. Catering to whales is going to catch up to WotC and Hasbro faster than they think.
I'm a math master dude I know it's overpriced regardless box or individual (and I'm aware you could just be messing with me as well by the way)
I'm just saying you would have paid 12.5 per pack vs the 16 both prices are still obnoxious per pack since you can see
(of coarse we still don’t know what's in this yet)
Try not to get upset, I was just questioning your "crazy" comment. Anyone who has ever bought anything has figured out that you pay less per unit if you buy in bulk. It never sounds crazy to save per unit when you buy in bulk. And it has always been that way for Magic boosters, unless you were being sarcastic (remember the interwebz doesn't pass along that sarcasm). And I agree 100% that even at $12 per pack the price as you say IS obnoxious. WotC isn't going to make this chock full of high dollar reprints at Rare, we know it. Wishful thinking for high value at this point is the extreme not the norm. This set will fall somewhere on the M25 to Ultimate Masters spectrum.

None of those are real surprises and could easily be a fan's guess.
The thing is the one email named the set, named the Summer time frame and named the double rares and double foils as well. That is WAY more than a fans wishlist, that is insider knowledge. Of course it could have been faked. We will see.

Its funny how they keep reprinting the expensive cards in expensive product and repeat year after year.
Would be a lot more interesting if every reprint set would have reprints we did not have before.
Those Urza Land reprints are *massively* overdue.
Agreed. I have a feeling we are going to see Oubliette as well. About time right? 27 years in the making. What they choose to reprint will never be enough in my estimation.

but the set itself at the price it was intended to be sold (let's call it "theoretical msrp") was great.
I have to disagree. Intended to be sold and price point it actually sold at were far different in my area. It may have been "great" for you. But it absolutely sucked for me. It should have been offered by big box stores at around a $6.99 "MSRP" and it would have been OK. After tax I am looking at around 10 bucks a pack at my LGS with a possible return of a lot of crap 25 cent rares. I won't do it. The reprints for some of these cards will not drop significantly enough with this type of distribution to benefit me as well. I'm glad it worked out for you, for me not even close.

Because that's physical impossible everyone who plays eternal formats gets singles
.....From someone else who has bought sealed product and paid Distributors that have paid WotC/Hasbro. You can't escape it unless you don't buy. Buying Secondary still supports WotC/Hasbro plain and simple albeit through levels/layers. Its like people who buy drugs from a local dealer and think they aren't supporting the huge illegal drug cartels and illegal drug makers. They are. Same applies here.

If people played Unglued draft, people will played anything draft.
I imagine drafters sitting down at the breakfast table drafting Lucky Charms cereal, or opening a bag of Potato Chips and drafting single chips with their friends. Just a weird mental image I get. Nothing against drafters here.
Am I the only one who can not refrain from comparing new products to Mystery Boosters? This was a reprint set done right, with apparently a great limited environment, reasonable booster price, etc...
Since this set wasn't released at box stores. My LGS hoarded them, asked for 8 to 9 dollars a pack, even for the free boxes they got. Reprints were good but they did not get into the hands of people like you and me, so that is a total fail in my opinion in that aspect.
