@Vivien v Garruk- Idk I have issues with Vivien being to similar to Garruk since the only difference is I *believe* Garruk does kill his hunts (though the example we saw he bonded with a monster not sure if he ended up killing it or healed it after). We only seen mono-green Garruk a few times as well, his origin story with his father being killed and him summoning beasts as an adult to kill the Sheriff who killed his dad (and he had the beasts destroy the town as well...so basically the first story we see with Vivien) and then him trying to kill Liliana after she killed one of his bonded beasts. I mean you could literally swap out Vivien out for Garruk for those stories, heck you could swap out Vivien for Garruk in this story. Also add in with Garruk retuning to being mono-green card-wise they will be really similar, thought thats a whole other issue they share with other walkers.
Garruk doesn't kill his hunts (before the veil curse), he was pretty much a druid that bonded with beasts he defeated(from what we know).Actually the only time we see hin killing a beast was when he summoned a beast that got tainted by the veil curse and ended up withered and in agony (was more of a mercy kill)
The start of Garruk animosity with Liliana was due to her death magic, his bound with his beasts can pass through curses/magics and probably feelings this is why he felt the death of one of his beasts and walked in to investigate... The later conflict was more of a Green Vs Black throwback (to old magic)(he went after her for vegeance, and answers)(he asked if it was her doing, and eventualy he would make her pay) and after he got cursed he went after her to kill her or exchange her life for a cure.
.... Garruk didn't kill innocents when going after his father's murderer. The worst his tamed Kavu did was break spears and knock a soldier away with its head.
I'd say your assuming too much on mono-green Garruk. Nothing says he didn't kill people and gain one of the first big thing he does is go after Liliana for killing one of his bonded beasts. He might have not hurt innocents like Vivien did on Ixalan, but he was willing to seems to kill people who crossed him or his beasts.
He went after her because of the death magic that he probably felt and to take vengeance over his pet. The assuption of hin killing ppl that crossed his way is possible but not supported by the comics: He did destroy Jace's elemental sentry on Ravnica, but once he came face to face with hin and bashed hin (use of violence) he imediately apologized for it.
There is only one time in the comic that we can speculate of hin killing people and thats when he delivered a warlord to the Gorgon (when he could not summon his beasts), but again we can also speculate that he ordered some wild beasts of the plane to help.
Again replace Garruk with Vivien here and I see similar results going on and again I dislike how similar to each other the two are in what roles they can fill in stories and cards.
Well old Garruk would probably stay away from Ikoria's cities and would probably hunt a big monster to bound, the rest would be pretty much the same once he meet Lukka and the odd aggressive monsters next to the Ozolith.
Did the book specify the entity as a walker or just a being or entity? The reason why I ask is that we now know that disembodied planar entities exist and can hide upon planes, manipulate people and sometimes even posess them. Sorta.
While I don't have enough info to say that's the case here, it would be interesting if this was a red-aligned disembodied worldsoul similar to the Black one in Dav (hereafter to be refered to by me as "Spooky") or the Green Bog Entity.
If it was a planeswalker then perhaps it was Oko or even Ramaz?
Well it was just a introduction imo. They didn't really gave more info than the voice. Could be nice if this end up being the former Worldsoul of a destroyed plane.
And about Ramaz i think it is possible but i m not even sure how canonicaly they consider hin, but again, he did manipulated chandra in the past, and it looks like he is about big monsters (in his deck in DotP, and the animation with the Wurms)
This makes me think of Ashiok and his time on Theros. Ashiok made everybody have that curse soo it could feedoff of the nightmares from Theros.
It is a bit odd for it not be related to dreams but then again the PW guide says that the nightmare creatures are belived to not only feed from flesh but also from fears. But ye quite don't fit unless its goal was to make the humans have more fear thus making "better" "nightmare fuel" in their dreams.
(note: also nightmare-beasts of ikoria are "natural", i m not implying that because there are nightmares it is Ashiok)
But no evidence on what corrupted the crystal imo it will be a new "villain" that will work tho Lukka and we will have a slow plot development on that.
( Just don't ask me what it was )( You just don't argue anymore )(i find it nice that Lukka is a "nice" guy overall and wanted to protect jirina. Yes he was a villain but a manipulated one and with good motives in his mind, would be nice if he went RW in the future (plz not another RG))

Not Kavus but Baloths
