Gavin did another video today and this time it looks like he is gonna talk to a member of the counsel of colors (the design team that figures out what each color can/can't/could do) with today being Jules Robins who is in charge of red. Nothing too big but at the end Jules says we will see a red card in Ikoria that will use botting (impulse draw) in a way that never been done before. https://twitter.com/GavinVerhey/status/1244667378786426880
Personally I've enjoyed seeing the different version they been doing so I'm curious about what this might do.

Ikoria getting an ebook before Theros.

Them saying "We missed the window for release" "we hope to find a way and time to release it" was a pretty clear sign for this, otherwise they would have just said the book was delayed. The fact you didn't see this coming is on you.
not when it’s the most requested to receive one. Not when it’s demonstrated its popularity twice. Not when it’s tried and true. This is the first visit to Ikoria. It has something to prove first.!
While I agree with the Ikoria part of that statement I can't imagine, of all of the planes of Magic, that Theros was the most requested one. I think that's your bias for the plane shining through. Considering how much influence D&D already takes from Greek myth I can imagine that for most people Theros was pretty low on their radar for a D&D sourcebook. Especially when compared to much more unique planes like Zendikar or Mirrodin or Kamigawa. Or even Dominaria which, while not necessarily unique, definitely has more clamor for it to have more lore brought to it and even opened up to become a fully fledged campaign setting.
But the original article with the James Wyatt Interview actually stated that Theros was the most requested/popular plane for a DND book. I don’t have the link to it on my phone but that was my source for that statement.
For context Theros being requested was AFTER the plane shift series started with BtZ and they knew they would be making one for Dominaria and Ravnica (if the Ravnica book hadn't been already in the works).

You mean like Bulucomon or some such? Yeah, kind of. It's mind blowing that that franchise is still going.
Regardless of whether it looks like Yu-Gi-Oh or Digimon or some kind of Mega Gallade, I get the distinct feeling the art direction so far is intensely influenced by these other franchises. It saddens me that WotC feels they can't afford to stand apart from other franchises in this regards.
I think the art type on the poster is going to be for showcase card's only, but I kinda get your point unfortunately I think in the next 5 years we'll have a set with a heavy sci-fi theme, it's only a matter of time till WOTC does it, I know it
With a ship that can travel planes no doubt, a robot thats flavored as a golem and maybe something like the borg?

They have struck it down since it eats up too much design space.
Prowress doesn't eat up too much design space. It doesn't interact well with a lot of set themes. It makes you nerf cards rebound and jumpstart if you're going to use it a lot on limited cards. It needs lots of noncreature cards. It would get silly in limited with stuff like infect. It's also weird being an evergreen keyword that stacks. Lifelink and Deathtouch were changed to not stack. It also gives you multiple bonuses per spell if something like "Artifactfall" "cast an instant or sorcery", or Constellation is in the set.
Thats kinda what I meant it eats set design space, sets often have themes they want to support (as you kinda pointed out) such as landfall, Constellation, play an artifact/enchantment/instant/sorcery that prowess trends on since it eats up the basically the common "play a thing this gets +1/+1". And when trying to make a theme come across "cast an artifact" in Kaladesh or "whenever you cast an instant or sorcery" for the Izzet is a lot more telling on what your gonna find in the set than "non-creature spell".

All these weird creature types make me think we could potentially see a new mechanic focused around having a certain number or more of different creatures. Almost like a reverse tribal.
Instead of wanting a bunch of the same type of creature, you want biodiversity.
They did something like that in Modern Horizons with changeling, which this set could add too in the same way RG lands in the graveyard and UR drawing a second card themes in sets have been showing up.
Funny enough this might end up also helping out tribals decks since they will be printing a bunch of odd-dual types that could be slotted into tribal decks.
Hound that generates fetch counters "Whenever you cast a spell with X in it's mana cost" do something Cycle of cards that is a reimagining of an old, popular multplayer cycle There's a creature that generates mana you can ONLY use to activate abilities 8 non-evergreen returning mechanics Whale Wolf,Cat-Dinossaur Tokens Single legendary card that brings back and uses experience counters
Of note I believe the returning mechanic are including what ever Ikoria has as well.

It’s probably are little friend here from the key art of Ikoria
I don't think the "face" of the set will be a commander exclusive card
Good point, but it's WotC we're talking about here. Don't forget the "face" of Throne of Eldraine was only featured as seen on marketing materials in the Planeswalker Decks.
Rowan was still in the set though?

Badgers are mammalian and Dinosaurs are not. Fake leak?
Oh yeah totally fake, no way in game of dragons, wizards and living magic fuel could we ever see badger dinosaurs.

Well I'm expecting 14-15 new Legendary creatures from C20, and 20-35 from the regular Ikoria set, Theros had 37 and Throne of Eldraine had 20 (counting the brawl commander decks legends)
There's only 27 legendary creatures in Theros. I don't expect Ikoria to have as many uncommon legends as the plane of epic, mythological heroes. Like I said. I'm pretty sure we're going to see 4 commanders in each deck which makes 20. I'm sticking with my guess of around 30 and no more than 35 across the set and the commander decks. Don't forget we're getting 70 new legends designed specifically for commander at the end of the year.
Theros is noted for wanting more than normal legendary creatures, they typically have 10-15 legendary in a set so 30-35 with the commander legends sounds about right.
