Does the damage from the copy, token or otherwise, count towards commander damage?
I ask because mtgcommander.com States the following:
Being a Commander is not a characteristic [MTG CR109.3], it is a property of the card and tied directly to the physical card. As such, "Commander-ness" cannot be copied or overwritten by continuous effects. The card retains it's commanderness through any status changes, and is still a commander even when controlled by another player.
Yet in every commander game when a commander is copied or a token copy generated, regardless of who controls the original commander, the players continue to treat such damage as commander damage. I pointed this out yet every player says otherwise, including the judge. Yes, I know, it’s not sanctioned. Just illustrating a point.
So what is the correct, standardized, rule on this?
