MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:

If Knight isn't considered the second white tribe, then I'd say Cat definitely should be not only for the Puss-in-Boots reference but also the traditional animosity between Cats and Faeries. And hey, we might then see more Cat Knights a la Balan, Wandering Knight. Dwarves as a RW tribe are also perfectly possible.

Most Magic sets like to have a couple distinct tribes in addition to Humans per color. Theros for example had Cats and Centaurs in white, Merfolk and Sirens in blue, Minotaurs and Zombies in black, Minotaurs and Satyrs in red, and Centaurs and Satyrs in green. Amonkhet had Birds and Zombies in white, Birds and Naga in blue, Minotaurs and Zombies in black (sounds familiar...), Jackals and Minotaurs in red, and Jackals and Nagas in green. Some tribes are represented in two colors, especially as a drafting theme, while others are mostly kept to one color with the occasional multicolor bleed.
So for Eldraine, perhaps we can guess which two tribes would be most appropriate for each color?
W Faeries, Knights U Faeries, Merfolk B Hags, Ogres R Dwarves, Ogres G Elves, Wolves
Each set also has general needs that have to be met for gameplay reasons, like large fliers in white, blue, black, and red and a variety of big and small creatures in general. Not to mention, every color needs options for evergreen keywords, like flying, first strike, and trample. Small white aggro - Cats, Humans, Soldiers, Knights, Samurai
White healing - Angels, Cats, Clerics, Wizards
Small white fliers - Birds, Spirits
Big bottom-heavy white - Elephants, Giants, Oxen, Rhinos
Big white fliers - Angels, Archons
Small blue evasive - Merfolk, Nagas, Ninjas, Pirates, Rogues
Blue fliers - Birds, Drakes, Faeries
Blue utility - Artificers, Merfolk, Rogues, Vedalken, Wizards
Big blue stompies - Krakens, Leviathans, Octopuses, Serpents
Big blue fliers - Sphinxes, Djinn

Black graveyard - Skeletons, Wizards, Zombies
Big black fliers - Demons, Specters
Small red aggro - Devils, Dwarves, Goblins, Jackals, Pirates, Satyrs, Viashino, Warriors
Small red burn - Devils, Goblins, Shamans
Red utility - Goblins, Satyrs, Shamans,
Big red stompies - Boars, Giants, Minotaurs, Ogres, Orcs

Wel also know the conflict is Rowan and Will searching for their missing father the king Arthur figure.
Oh, okay, so Rowan and Will are basically the princess and prince of Eldraine's Camelot. In that case, Eldraine's King Arthur should be fairly true to the source, appearance wise. That's a relief.
Oh Fairies, Merfolk and Humans for sure (we already have seen pictures of merfolk creatures in the set). Wolves are very likely. There is at least one fairytale with a giant and magical plants. Ah and other magical beasts like Unicorns etc. Dragons are very likely, too. I can see something like Constructs, Golems or Scarecrows. Some normal animals like birds and cats are possible, too.
Depending how far they like to go I can see some demons, kobolds etc. I can't see any sphinxes, angels or hydras.
Based on the needs every set has, yeah, I could see Giants being a proper tribe. Since Angels and Sphinxes are unlikely, I could see larger Faeries playing their role. You know how the Zelda series has Great Fairies that play the approximate role of Angels? I picture larger Faeries being like that. Even Demons could be supplanted by black Faeries. And really, what better world to promote Faeries as a WUB tribe than the Fairy Tale world?
I also think BR Ogres are likely. We might see more GW Cat tribal, too. After all, Cats play a role in fairy tales. Could BG be Hag or Witch tribal, I wonder? Of course red could have some witches as well, but it's something different for BG than the usual graveyard shenanigans. And hey, Cats are often familiars for witches! Which of course means we could see some black Cats as well.

What I wonder is which types are going to be fleshed-out tribes in Eldraine? Innistrad took classic movie monsters like Dracula and the Wolfman and turned them into entire tribes. Will we see multiple Giants or Wolves? I think we're all expecting Faeries of course.

I think it'd be more a matter of you want one of the frames to define the set. The storybook frame will be the big thing Eldraine is doing. I say save Sagas for Return to Theros, they're perfect for the enchantment theme. You can adapt stories like the Argonaut, the Trojan War, and The Twelve Labors of Heracles.

Perhaps it's "Draw N cards, then put N cards from your hand on top of your library in any order." That way, white can exchange less useful cards for more useful cards without actually gaining any cards. For example, a white Divination could say "Draw two cards, then put two cards from your hand on top of your library in any order." Basically, white's equivalent of looting. Since white is allowed cantrips, it could also get something like "Draw three cards, then put two cards from your hand on top of your library in any order." Basically a white Brainstorm, but at a higher mana cost. Say, 3W?

Enchantments can represent many things in fairy tales; blessings, curses, quests, events, etc. GW could also be the primary pair for pairing, leaving room for RW to focus on something a little more combat-centric.
I first proposed GU as the primary storybook colors, but the mechanic appears to encourage ramp, so I opted for the two colors best at ramp. Much like DFCs in Innistrad, of course there will be storybook cards in every color, but I suspect we'll get a greater volume in RG.

I hope Faerie tribal is the WU draft theme. They're small fliers, so they already fit WU, and fairy tales often have good fairies in them, like the Blue Fairy, the Fairy Godmother, The Three Good Fairies, and Tinker Bell. Also see fairies in The Legend of Zelda.

I expect Sagas to return with Theros following Throne of Eldraine. Sagas would be perfect for Theros, as a distinct enchantment type that can easily represent myths, legends, and odysseys. And hey, what better way to follow up the Fairy Tale plane than with the Greek Mythology plane?

I'm guessing cards with the storybook mechanic enter the battlefield with, say, a tale counter on them which you remove as part of their ability cost. Thus, it's by default a one-shot effect much like the old Myojin cycle from Kamigawa, but thanks to War of the Spark's proliferate you will actually be able to reuse the story effect by putting additional tale counters on the cards in question. That said, I expect green and blue will have the largest number of cards with this mechanic.

I definitely see a succession crisis underlining the story. The name kinda spells it out.
If the set isn't about Faeries though, then why did they use Faeries for the art as opposed to, say, knights or a royal? Assuming of course we're talking Arthurian legend and not something more fairy tale-focused.
