Heh, yup, almost all my strong suspicions were wrong. *sigh* Welp.
Vaimes, sorry, man. That sucks when you don't enjoy playing scum.
Tom, your roleplay is almost always one of the most fun things of any game, and this was no exception. <3
Chris, thanks for being persistent and patient. Sorry for tunneling, and especially sorry for actually making you mad. Certainly wasn't my intent. I look forward to actually catching you someday.
Killjoy, the game was fun, the role pm flavors were pretty fun; I enjoyed the gender shifts, and the small backgrounds were fine. Names were quite well done. Yeah, votecount flavor wasn't spectacular (but it never has to be; that's not the point for most players), and you didn't hit flavor on every EoD/SoD post...but that's unfortunately sometimes unavoidable. You were present and responsive, and you posted votecounts and handled replacements and any concerns timely. For your first go-round, I thought you did just fine.
My one complaint, as I think was already mentioned, would be calling Wisp's role a "Friendly Neighbor", mostly because both those words have specific mechanical meaning within the game, and neither of them actually meant that mechanic (leading to Wisp's (now) understandable confusion). I'm pretty surprised that Proph didn't recommend that you change that.
One note that I'll post as a preference thing (for anyone who mods): I'm lazy and don't have the best memory, so I like being able to go to the OP of the thread to see the player list (especially who replaced whom or who flipped what role). To that end, when I mod, I try to put my player list front and center in the first post, then put rules in the second, and then put any start of game/start of D1 flavor in the third post. But that's just my personal preference.
Like ??? cases are more or less built on personal interpretation. This is not an interpretation.
If you need an essay from me on why he’s scum, I’m not going to do it, because it can be summed up (and has been multiple times) as “he is not town.”
And if you’re worried about the 0.001% chance that he’s town who somehow scumslipped, the game isn’t going to end. Saving him for endgame is suboptimal in so many ways and I don’t see how I’m the unreasonable one for wanting him dead last week.
I...just don't really see it as a definitive scumslip. Could it be? I suppose, but I think it's just as likely to be indicative of town, who is-barring mechanical results--rarely completely sure.
How is asking about Will’s native language any different from asking a newb partner their mafia experience?
It's more Will's response, sounding apologetic and slightly nervous that makes me think it's genuine. I don't think a scum buddy has any trepidation in responding there.
The best path, if you think I’m scum, is to kill Rod and then me. But you won’t have to, because the game will be over.
If you kill me first, you’re just going to pointlessly tinfoil other worlds and make it that much harder for town to win.
A) I don't think you are or can be so certain that Rod is scum to say the game will be over, b) why would we kill Rod if we think you're scum, and c) I think it's most telling that I don't get any sense of urgency or conviction from your posts (prior to now, specifically, when you're on the verge of being lunched, of course) that makes me believe that YOU believe Rod is scum. You take many, many opportunities to tell us that you think Rod is scum, but you're not pushing for his lunch, I don't see any scrutiny of the rest of his posts from you, trying to find additional evidence...you're just like "oh, and Rod is scum, btw."
Oh yeah, Will and Shadow had that whole "is English your first language" exchange that didn't even sort of feel like theatre. Pretty sure that clears Rod.
I am rolling my eyes really, really hard.
Really? 202-204 you think comes from buddies? I just feel like Shadow, specifically, doesn't take that route to establish "we don't know each other, never talked to each other".
I'm with Tubba: if your case is more than "he slipped in 980 lolscum!", then I'm happy to hold off to hear it.
Oh yeah, Will and Shadow had that whole "is English your first language" exchange that didn't even sort of feel like theatre. Pretty sure that clears Rod.
That's L-1 for Vaimes. I'd really like to hear from him before we move forward. Unless "lunch Rod" is his legacy, in which case, we're probably good to go.
Chris, I feel like you dropped off the radar. Come back and participate in case this isn't end of game.
@Cantrip
I’m gonna need you to be more specific.
Honestly, I don’t play that way. Anytime I make a reads list I hate it, and I don’t have confidence in it.
I don’t think it’s Chris, or you. I’m sceptical of Last and hoped the claim would have been proven one way or the other by now, didn’t like Will but haven’t minded Rod so far. Vaimes should’ve posted more than this, both quantitatively and qualitatively.
This has probably helped you very little.
Eh...if it's all I get, I'll take it. It at least gives me a feel for where you stand, generally.
How DO you play, exactly?
What didn't you like about Will? I thought he felt pretty natural for a (maybe?) first-timer.
Vaimes, what would you say has been the most alignment indicative post you've made this game? I ask in part because a review of your iso leaves me pretty underwhelmed, which I don't think is the norm for you. I know you've been real life busy, but...
This shin spunk is...refreshing? Like I don’t feel the overwhelming urge to lynch him like normal.
@Shin wrt Tubba, I can’t actually describe that read very well; but he’s doing very off the cuff Tubba things that I associate with his town persona. Wrt Lng, why ask if you can join the wagon instead of just joining it?
I’m not supremely impressed by Lng’s response to pressure, wouldn’t mind some more questions/votes directed his way.
@Cantrip
tbh I expected a way different response from your opinion, this both and what you say dont really add up, I thought I had a general understanding of the post from your response, but clearly not
on actually reading the post, its hard to say if this is w/w, or w/v, like if this was any other than maybe a strong wolf, I would think its unlikely w/v, but it kinda feels more like a conversation between two wolves
Shrug? All I can say is that I made that read when I didn't know if Shadow was scum, and at the time I was more focused on whether Shadow's actions were more likely malicious or if he was just trying to figure Shin out. Looking at it again, it could certainly be possible w/w interaction.
Tubba, can we maybe get a liiiiiiiitttttle more for D3 from you other than a question to Wisp that she'd already answered? A few takes, a reads list, something?
I find myself in the frustrating position of wanting to lunch just about everyone.
Vaimes for low content/effort, which is indicative of his scum game.
Chris because he's a good player and has been wrong on a lot of points this game, which makes me think it's more likely he's scum being sneaky than town being bad.
Rod because he's tunneling a player that, despite my own misgivings, is probably just town.
Wisp because of her frustratingly lax play and claim flubs.
Tubba because he hasn't contributed much at all.
Pretty much the only one I don't feel like lunching is Vezok.
Which means it's Vezok, isn't it?
I haven't looked at any more interactions yet. I will, though.
EWP: I like that last post from Wisp, but...
Wisp, are you relying solely on my notes, or are you looking at the original posts? Obviously you haven't yet for the one you bolded regarding Shin, but...it feels odd that you'd just take my perspective and treat it as gospel.
Well carp. That's just dumb. Never mind, I guess. I'll almost certainly never put that role in a game and actually refer to as "Friendly Neighbor".
Vaimes, sorry, man. That sucks when you don't enjoy playing scum.

Vote: Vaimes

Also, pretty sure Chris isn't scum based on interactions, my paranoia and desire to be right aside.
Also, pretty sure Wisp isn't scum.
Grape/Vez has felt strongly pure.
So. Vaimes or Rod.

What do you think of Vaimes' 338 (easy link up above in my 1541)?
