It's a little more complicated than that. The removal of MSRP and launch of this product at such a stupidly high price for retailers pretty much let online retailers set the price for boxes of this set. And because the internet is full of stupid people, the idea of $200 boxes being the norm (and anyone charging more being depicted as gouging) spread like wildfire before the set was even released or retailers even knew what they were going to charge for them.
I don't blame Hasbro for anything aside from removing MSRP. If they hadn't, the MSRP for this would've been in the area of $300 and retailers would probably be a little more confident about ordering it because they wouldn't be losing as much money to the online sellers.
Why on earth should this set be $300 a box?! That's absurd!
Cards in this wouldn't be as expensive as they have been pre-ordering for had pricing not been through the roof. This should be like $4 bucks a pack max and $100 a box.
This isn't a masters set.
And let's face it, the only thing that makes this not a Masters set is that WotC chose not to call it one. But it most certainly is.
In what way? Reprints are meh at best and it has a bunch of Legacy light wannabe cards. This isn't a masters set at all. It's an overhyped standard set that's legal in modern.

It does seem a tad bit high. They very well could and probably will print more as this set is "print to demand". I've noticed prices creeping down on booster boxes as we speak as well.
I think it's WAY overpriced. Not much here tells me this should be much more than a regular box. These pack prices are pushing prices of the singles to silly levels. At least they are coming down a bit, but false perceived scarcity will ruin this game. Charging $10-12 a pack to draft this set is really a punch in the face.
No one should be charging $10-12 per pack to draft this. $8-9 is the expected price.
But hoping boxes drop too much below $200 is foolish as they never should've been that low to begin with, considering what retailers are paying for them. This product is a nightmare for game stores that don't focus mainly on Magic. Despite being print to demand, there might be artificial rarity due to a lot of stores just not ordering much of it because it's impossible to actually make a profit on it.
Sadly $30-$35 seems to be the norm around here.
This is Hasbro setting the secondary market. They are taking all profit away from retailers. Not a good move for anyone.

I like the set, just the price seems too high. I'd have sold this at 150 and printed more.
