The picture with Ajani in the front and Jace in the background is interesting. They are getting some kind of a power up. Maybe Niv-Mizzets doing or some kind of released Guild pack magic. Could lead to some kind of Emblem mechanic that enables Planeswalker ulti/loyalty abilities?
Unless it is the other way round: planeswalkers lending energy to whatever is on top of the Steam Vents building genkidama style.
I expect them to be walkers with only negative abilities that flip to creatures when exhausted.
It fits the story, and keeps the games from becoming insane grindfests.
or just walkers with negative abilities.
Why make them more persistent than regular walkers AND make them extremely awkward to flip unless they all have -1 or -X abilities?
Which would still make the more durable than regular planeswalkers.
Just imagine swinging on an opponent to kill one of those walkers. Creatures connect and now your opponent has a brand new creature to retaliate with, not to mention that you can just flicker that creature with justiciar's portal and you have a brand new planeswalker at your side.

Have t o say that the "Proudmoore" walker doesn't seem to have a mono-white color scheme. WU may be? But that would put too many Azorius planeswalkers in standard, especially if both Dovin and Teferi are still Azorius colored.
I wonder if we will see more mono-colored walkers in order to make them better playable in a limited environment that might not have all the color fixing the previous 2 Ravnica sets had.
I mean, for pre-release they gave some guild-seeded boosters together with the regular ones, right? For this one there isn't any specific information about that and having an overabundance of multi-colored planeswalkers could make it hard for players to make them fit in their limited decks.
Same for draft. It would suck to have a planeswalkers-matter set and not find any planeswalker to pick up that fits into the colors you are drafting without having to splash extra colors just for them.
With every booster seeded with one planeswalker, I doubt we will see the guildgates making a return in the basic land spot and if they did, this time we would have 10 different gates instead of 5.
Walkers that only have 2 abilities and only lose loyalty would fit the flavour of having their power diminished by the Immortal Sun, I assume.
But would you like to see all those characters die like flies because WotC has to prune the character roster and make it all about the Gatewatch forever and ever?

That makes 12 unknown (1 of them is the new planeswalker with the shield magic)
It is safe to assume that every planeswalker featured in the mythic edition will make an appearance, this brings in:
Elspeth, Daretti, Sorin and Dack.
Samut could be there somewhere (she has all the reasons in the multiverse to want Bolas dead) and so could Garruk (who got a new art that was used in a poster iirc).
Narset, may be?
I would also expect Nahiri in there (if she learned from Nissa that Bolas plotted to free the Eldrazi, she is going to be majorly pissed at him).
One of them is surely Dovin, but seems I missed him (somehow)
Which leaves 2 spaces for brand new walkers?
Unless those 2 are Arlinn and Ashiok.
All this brings me to think that having them in masterpieces with their stained glass art would make much more sense than having 36 random underpowered planeswalkers show up from nowhere.
Isn't it veeeeeery convenient that we already have 36 living (if Elspeth in the underworld is still considered a planeswalker, then yes, she is "alive" at least on other planes) planeswalkers already? 37 if you include the new one.
I wouldn't be surprised to learn at this point it was something like: 20 Uncommon, 10 Rare, 5 Mythic, 1 Box Topper.
inb4 WotC comes up and says: 36 planeswalkers?
There are 16 in the two mythic editions already, so you have only 12 here because another 8 are in the THIRD mythic edition.
I can see this going down 2 routes:
1) getting Tibalt levels of disappointment from most of the planeswalkers, pretty much working as glorified sorcery spells (only loyalty spending abilities usable once or twice at most) or not making any decent impact on the game.
2) In a standard environment where Oath of Teferi is still legal, getting superfriends control in addition to monored (and variants) and Teferi control (and variants), making Standard an even more unplayable mess (at least for Arena).
