It seems everyone is generally supportive of this announcement to different degrees and the detailed analysis provided, but is anyone strongly against this ban? And if so, why?
So far this appears to be one of the most acceptible bans to the community, like eye of ugin or summer bloom.
You had a bit of a perfect storm here.
1. Most players do not like Combo.
2. Most players do not like Combo that they 'cannot' (they can, but its harder) shut down with hate.
3. Most players hated Eggs already.
4. KCI won far too much for a fringe deck, a lot like Amulet.
Add those up, and its easy to see why people are accepting of the KCI ban, and actually are happy about it. I'd rather the deck not been murdered, I think it could have lived on as lower power, but it is what it is. Something had to be done to it, and now Eggs is dead forever.
The bigger question I have, is to those who actually REALLY think SFM is too good for Modern. I see it on Twitter too, and just cannot wrap my mind around it.
In no world, do I see SFM as actually being too strong. Like none.
PS: No unbans is probably since they not UW was in second place.
PPS: Stirrings and Opal are being watched.
All in all, a fine update.
Based on your earlier post about Arena, I have to say you've taken this very well.
Honestly, I just want information, transparency, and the ability to at least pretend they are being honest with us. I get that from this announcement.
As to Arena, I can play Best of One Xerox Burn and abuse the fact they will almost always give me 2 lands thanks to the algorithm (the same deck does NOT work out on MTGO lol) and I can play Wilderness Reclamation Nexus on Standard MTGO. I may even brew up a UG Taking Turns/Growth Spiral deck for Modern.
All in all though, just taking out KCI is not going to change my view on Modern, so I'll just mess with Standard/Arena and see how things go till March.
but still unfair. I don't need explanations how more unfair helps fair. I see only turn 3 unfair is fine, now we have turn 4 unfair too... Yeah great
Since when was winning on turn 4 not allowed for the format? Don't they explicitly not want wins before turn 4, but 4+ is A-OK, regardless of type?
since twin. Time to see reality
Curious, when did you start playing Modern?
18 years ago. And twin is with pod my baddest experience on so long time of magic. Even eldrazi winter was less frustrating to me
Modern...didnt exist 18 years ago.
However if Eldrazi Winter was less frustrating (meaning you enjoyed it MORE when you only had 2 or 3 competitive options) well, I'm going to guess you dont like Remand.
To me, Summer Bloom == Ichor Wellspring in terms of ban elegance. I think that was your suggestion all along, and personally its the favourite I've seen. Dont kill people's decks.
twin did not only reduce diversity amongst blue decks, it was also reducing diversity across Modern overall.
Both proven false over actually looking at the top 8 data. Not sure why you repeat this.
If this was the case, the card would have been unbanned long time ago. Remember; Wizards has much more access to the data. Day 1 to Day 2 conversion rates, MODO metagame shares, mwp's. Also someone literally posted some scary day 2 Twin percentages not so long time ago.
I know you think Wizards is the devil here, but they are not. They may know something more than us.
LOL.
If you actually believe that, I envy you.
I wish I could give Wizards the benefit of the doubt, but not in this way.
To be fair, As Foretold, Electrodominance, and Wilderness Reclamation are all pretty daring cards. Teferi, Search, Light Up the Stage...there are risks being taken.
The fact you can play it at pseudo instant speed, turn 3, when mana is still tight, to protect the cast of twin, is what separates Twin, from Kiki.
I mean if we want to pretend that these minor edges ( 4 mana, RR vs RRR, starting turn 3 instead of 4) don't actually have a huge impact, well the proof is there, 3 years of it.
Free Wins matter, and Twin had it's fair share.
I don't think we even disagree really, but it's ability to attack instantly off the end step is also why Copy Cat is bad, in comparison to Twin.

We all know that their 'rules' are not hard and fast.
Spirits
Probably not. I mean from the Twin players POV.
I'd rather they try a 2RR 2/1 Kiki.

Bruh, come on.
Turn 3 EOT - Pesterminte/Exarch, tap you down, Untap, Twin.
Spirits
Well the argument is if unfair x is fine, and kills on Turn 3, how is unfair y, which kills on turn 4, not fine?
