I haven't tested him yet, but this is what I think: Experiment One has a pretty relevant ability that makes him harder to kill, which is a big plus. It is also not that hard to give him 2 counters most of the time.
I agree, the Regen has been quite relevant for me in multiple cases.
I can see going for a 3/3 Split together with 4 Dryad Militants.
So I've been brewing and doing a little play-testing with Stompy again (I just have too much fun) and I've been thinking of taking it to some events. I'm curious about everyone's opinion about running Dryad Militant in the main? I know it's been found in basically everyone's list and I have been running 4 since I built the deck. But after testing with a storm player he keeps telling me that while Dryad is a good card he thinks it does best in the sideboard. It might be because he's salty about having to deal with it pre sideboarding, but it's got me thinking about the card. I like that it basically shuts down Snapcaster Mage and hinders storm, plus if played early enough it shrinks goyf and throws off delirium. But are there other uses that I'm over looking? I've been privy to keep it in because from my understanding we have a lot of control in our local meta.
Gigantosaurus is probably not good in our deck, but its nice to see some big green creatures with a very restricted mana cost. Makes me hope for some fun stuff for this deck in the future.
Doesnt the bow seem way too slow for lifegain though; its a 5 mana investment for 3 life. May be too late already. Fair point about the big creature decks. I dont have the bow either, was just curious what people are using it for.
Hey guys, bought into modern with stompy and am going to my first modern tournament on saturday.
Im running a very similar list like the one posted in the first post. ( except no Canopys and some Dungrove Elders instead of Rhonas). My Sideboard is also very similar to the one posted ( Got some Chokes, Unravel the Aether and a Thrun in addition to that ). I have no idea what the meta is, so Im going into it with a fairly stock sideboard.
Now to the actual question:
1. Are there any basic sideboarding guidelines around?
I can also generally figure out what cards seem good to bring in, its way harder for me to figure out which cards to get out of the main though. I usually would remove some amount of three drops for sideboard cards.
2. For what matchups is the bow in the sideboard?
3. Against lists with aether vial, is it worth brining in all the natural states and pithing needles I got, even if I know its the only target for them? ( e.g. some Humans or Spirits build? )
Thats all for now, looking forward to the tournament and happy for any help

Could you post your main aswell?

How many Horizon Canopies do we play until it hurts us?
Do we maybe want one Pendelhaven?
Im currently running 19 Forests and 2 Treetops. Looking for any upgrades.
Its a 2/1 for 1 which we can play in green.
And it looks very much like a kavu to me.

Quick follow-up question:
Whats your affinity sideboard plan? We got Gut Shot, Creeping Corrosion, Natural State and Pithing Needle.
I assume we take out some 3 drops the Dismembers and some Vines of Vastwood maybe?
