I'm hoping to achieve some land destruction with AT, GQ, Wrenn and Six, and Pillage in certain matchups. Sometimes I have to mulligan because of the mana base but with the new mulligan rule it hasn't been too bad in play testing.
Even having one Ghost Quarter is extremely greedy. Having two in that mana base is just ridiculous.
I'm just riding with Assassin's Trophy. It cleans up most of that stuff at instant speed and is still relevant against other decks. I will say that U am a little more interested in Abrupt Decay lately.
The first live run went very well. I was shocked. I also initially wasn't a fan of the idea, but Jeskai had done it to decent success (when Lightning Bolt was better positioned), which is why I didn't think it would be a huge problem. I don't know how the guy I saw on Facebook did it with 24 lands, but I went to 25. It seems unbelievably greedy to run any Field of Ruin in a 3-color deck. In any case, I'm going to continue tweaking it. It seems pretty nice against Tron and control builds. I'm looking to test against Phoenix and Humans next.
I agree. Based on a list someone else is also currently tweaking, I increased the number of Field of Ruins I've been playing to three, and it has been fantastic! I don't know why I was so scared to try it since I've done similar things with Jeskai. It was recently posted on the FB group, and I've already seen that SSpeigel is not a fan of it, but it's been really sweet for me.
Three of those jund players were top calibur players in the pro scene. Think the jund results are skewed
I seriously don't understand this logic. Are you telling me they beat up chumps?
This is the way I see it. They piloted what most pros consider to be an "underpowered" deck for the format, and a good percentage of them did fairly well against top flight competition.
Leyline of the Void becomes significantly better with the London mulligan. Just based on how I'm seeing sideboards built now, I think we should already have switched over Leylines any way. The London mulligan will make it so that we don't ever need more than three (possibly only 2) Leylines.
It's really cute and really close to being something I would want to play. That whole having to "survive until combat" is a drag for me in a big way. It's probably the fairest way to bring Cabal Therapy into Modern, and it's probably actually somewhere between decent-to-good, but to me, it's a pale imitation.
Jund is probably the worst deck in Modern that is a playable deck, GB isn't too far behind it. I would not recommend playing this deck or any mid-range deck if you are looking for wins or competitive games. I would also not recommend Jund or GB if you suffer from depression or have suicidal thoughts.
Just look at this thread. I scrolled back a few a pages, there is nobody on here celebrating anything. Entire weeks go by without a single post. And when there is a post, it is someone suggesting something new for the deck, that is only immediately shot down, with good reason usually. I've been playing this deck for a long time now, hoping that something would make midrange playable but we are beyond that now. Nobody wants fair games, they want infinite loop or instant kill. Playing anything else, you are just wasting your time. Move on to some other deck, that is easier to play, like Burn or Tron.
Close this thread. It's over.
That's because we're on Facebook and Discord.
GBx decks are far from dead. They're just not the top of the food chain any more, and probably won't be ever again. I'm fine with that. Otherwise, why so salty?
Why can't we run 1 or 2 Kessig Wolf Run to deal with problematic flying tokens which mostly probably our weakest match ups?
Skarrg, the Rage Pits seems better to me if you're going that route. However, making colorless mana is not where you want to be. There are occasions when even Twilight Mire is a pain in the ass and that makes two of our prominent colors but not red. So you can easily get hosed with bad opening hands. Not to mention, this way seems like a very roundabout way to deal with tokens. Why not play Grim Flayer instead?
I don't believe that's the case any longer. Tron, Scapeshift, Amulet, UW Control, and Lantern are all poised to be good now and all have positive matchups against Jund. Burn is still good and I believe that matchup slightly favors Burn. Affinity has morphed into a harder deck to beat with Hardened Scales. Jund has a positive matchupu against Storm, but that isn't overly prevalent right now. Humans and Spirits are probably 50/50 - Jund does well against creature decks but those 2 decks pack a lot of disruption on the bodies, which brings the matchups closer.
Lantern is a bad matchup?? How??
Also, Tron is definitely 50/50.

EDIT: Scales Affinity is one matchup where Kalitas is far more useful than Huntmaster as well.
True. If there are multiple replacement effects, the owner of the object chooses which one will affect it.
