i tried my version of marchesa artifacts last night, i was completely underwhelmed by spellskite. the best use i had for it has been using it as a 5th artifact for time sieve.
the only time it is usually good for me is to prevent the stray path of exile on marchesa, but the deck seemed stable enough to just shrug off the commander tax. anyone else in doubt about the card?
It's a toolbox card. It's not always going to be the best card on the battlefield, but when you need it you'll be glad you have it. In a 4-5 player pod once people learn what you're doing, they're going to be gunning for Marchesa or other important creatures like Arcbound Ravager nonstop. Also it obviously depends on the people/decks you're playing with. Some people run more or less removal than others. You may also not realize it, but people may be holding on to cards just because you have Spellskite on the battlefield and they can't target what they want to. It's one of those cards that you know is working because they aren't casting spells at your stuff - they know it'll be redirected to Spellskite.
Nice work on this, Plush I've been looking to update my budget Marchesa build, and being that I love Artifacts this looks really fun. I think I'll be using this as inspiration for my update I'm also building Sydri but I was shying away this for a minute due to having two heavy Artifact decks if I did, but it seems like they'll both be playing way differently than one another. Anyway...
As for a card to cut for Purphoros, God of the Forge: If the main post list is up to date, I have to ask how much you're swinging out. I'm looking at the list and Hammer of Purphoros stands out the most. I don't see this as a list that really gets much advantage from giving it's creatures Haste, even considering the Dethrone triggers from Marchesa Picturing myself playing this, I see myself putting a lot of creatures in play but mostly for the sake of combowombo for value and not attacking very much. I could be wrong, so please correct me if that is the case Otherwise I feel like Hammer is the weakest card in the list right now.
