I don't really think this is where this god should be. Maybe in a midrange controlish deck that wants to discard cards for extra value and wants an indestructible creature, but I can't think of any.
IMO the best way to beat a Titania is to turn 2 Ankh of Mishra them. The best way to beat Vial is also to turn 2 Ankh of Mishra them, but less so. I'd never cut Ankh.
2-0 Vendilion Clique
2-0 Maelstrom Wanderer
2-0 Skithiryx
0-2 Titania (Zuran Orb on both games!)
Titania is super fast! Lost both games on T4/T5 to Zuran Orb + Titania.
How can we beat this? I only have Phyrexian Revoker, I think.
Against Titania you have to hold burn to control her and have artifact hate (the R, sac, destroy trgt artifact guys and the destroy target artifact and deal 3). It's not an easy match for you, thats why before partners Ttiania didn't care much for Zurgo.
I use Reckless Abandon with the same mentality as when we attack with 3 creatures to have 2 of them die and deal 2 or 3 to the opponent. Most of our creatures, if not all of them, are disposable. Also, it makes it easier to deal with Anafenzas and Zedruus...
I haven't been having problems with control decks. Ill test tomorrow against a very good Keranos player and bring my 2c after.
Reckless Abandon....hmm. Never saw that card before. I want to like it........that sorcery speed though. Still, one for four damage deserves testing, though I'm inclined to believe it's a level below Collateral Damage.
Tested a bit more today with a newer version. Went 6-4 over a Sidisi BUG delirium and 2-2 against a Jori En list.
35 lands is too few for me, I'll go back to 36. Cutting most of the 4-drops was the right call, and overloading with 2-mana, 3-damage spells felt right. I wanted to test against some more decks today but didn't want to go to the store where duel commander people hang.
I'll post an update tomorrow b/c it's late, I'm tired and I don't want to grab my deck box...
Having unhasty 1-drops makes for worse topdecks mid-game. The reason Zurgo works is that you have always a good 1-drop w/o them clogging your draws later.
Vexing Devil is a 1-mana 4/3 that sometimes super-Lava Spike people. They feel they are gaining value away when they let you have it and trade it for a creature but most of the creatures on this deck is small and would have been eaten for free. It lets you swing with the team unafraid. Also, when you go t3 Vexing Devil into Goblin Bushwhacker people cry.
Valley Dasher is a hasty drop 2 that doesn't trade with t1 dork. T1 Zurgo into hasty 2-drop is one of the best scenarios for this deck. If he connects for 2 you are happy enough b/c eventually they will block him and that means some other creature will go through.
Tested again last night a couple of matches. Been using this deck to test all the other decks as i believe it will be one of the pillars of the format - or at least one of the most common decks around. People are still undervaluing his speed and aggressiveness.
Vexing into Bushwhacker was the best t3 ever for me so far. l also went hard on to the dome burn spells. Lava spike and Flames found their way into the 99 and caused fear and panic whenever they showed up.
The new 20 life total benefits Zurgo, but my friend says that Anafenza and Doran will dominate the aggro theme, devouring Zurgo in their way. Let's see what happen.
l'm gonna try a more burn spell-heavy version to go over the ground.

It's much better than the instant speed one.

Any way, this is url=http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/zurgo-11/]my list[/url] that I've been using as a way to make people feel bad about their choices in life.
