screw owl, fevered visions is a wincon enough. owl is basically just wasting a slot to speed up the clock visions already creates. The beauty of fevered visions is that it is both a win con and turbo in the same slot which opens up a few more slots in your deck for other cards like more fogs or utility
Ulamog is what I'm seeing in the BCx eldrazi decks, but I'd consider it one of the big 3(4?) since it also has a debilitating attack trigger. One swing could race our clock and the second is lethal. Of course Emrakul is the scariest because it has pseudo haste and can't be countered or targeted by spells, but Ulamog comes down 5 mana sooner and can still smack our permanents on the cast trigger. Regardless of which it is, I think Jester's Cap is our best option against it, and we don't have a chance if it comes out too quick.
Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger is practically unbeatable for pretty much all the lists I see in this thread. It would take a big change in direction (or paths) to beat it, and even that isn't a perfect answer. Path won't even be a versatile answer since it can't beat Emrakul.
nope none of that stuff. I just took a page out of my friends standard control deck that won with altars and land drops. I think the deck is possible in 2 colors so I'm just going UW.
Any thoughts on Academy Ruins? I thought it seemed pretty obvious with Jester's Cap and Howling Mines, but a lot of the lists here don't have it. I've also been testing Altar of the Brood instead of Tutelage as a win con since it can also get grabbed by ruins and is cheaper to drop, so you can more easily throw it down while holding up instants, and its pretty satisfying to cast it turn 1.
I'm a big fan of Sun Droplet as a life gain card. It's like Dragon's Claw but just better pretty much all the time, and once you get multiples your life total shoots up.
I haven't seen any mention of Day's Undoing in this deck yet. Is there any particular reason why? Are we just avoiding ******* up the mill win con? I feel like refueling our hand is pretty darn strong as well as recycling our graveyard which increases our fog density, even with the downside of letting our opponent draw a new hand. What do you guys think of adding Day's Undoing and going to eldrazi, manlands, or planewalkers to finish a game?
edit: I'm also interested in what people think of kami of false hope + emeria, the sky ruin as a hard fog lock. The downside is obvious that kami is bad vs instant speed removal, but the upside is that if you get it online, a lot of decks have to concede to it.
It would be interesting, but I'm not sure if it would be good, if we made an esper list utilizing Bloodchief ascension to gain life and eventually win the game, using creeping tar pit, batwing, and countersquall to stack it up. Actually, Spiteful visions stacks it as well.
Also, is venser's journal just bad? I really want it to be good here...
