I run:
time warp
temporal manipulation
capture
and temporal mastery
I think its the sweet point. Having the miracle is huge when you are playing with top of the deck tutors, and can easily set up for the win when you've got 3 other extra turns to search out. It becomes very easy to chain together turns until you can ult something/doubling season.
Wow rector would be really interesting in this. Granted with no real sack outlet its a little bit weird, but the enchantments in this deck are pretty important.
Yalpe, I think as you get to 3/4 players it is super dependent on your playgroups play style. My biggest problem is people assume I'm about to go into endless turns so they don't want more than one walker out, but they don't head hunt certain walkers that hard. If your group insta kills all walkers then yeah you are in trouble. I think you did the right thing dropping veil for extra turns.
Steb- The deck is surprisingly good in almost all environments. In 1 v 1 the planes walkers can often get massive board control. In multiplayer they usually get picked off because people fear walkers- But it can still easily string together extra turns/win with doubling season.
I can understand not wanting too many extra turns. One of my playgroup members hates this deck because it usually wins by taking tons of extra turns, but really I'd drop chain Veil for temporal mastery in a heartbeat since you're already pretty all in on the extra turn plan. I think I'm gonna be cutting the veil myself at this rate. Seems so strong but yea, hasn't won be a single game or really done anything impressive.
I've found stranglehold to be one of the most crippling vs this deck so far. So many searches including lands, and extra turn cards.
My playgroup isn't a big fan of the extra turns thing though lol, since sometimes a ton get chained together. I've won two games so far with doubling season for an immediate ral Zarek ult.
I can't endorse the miracles enough though. With top and all the ways to stack the deck it has been wrecking people. temporal mastery makes stringing together those valuable extra turns all the more easy.
Despite how good doubling season has been, I haven't really gotten the chain veil to do much of anything. I guess usually the board isn't established enough to justify the mana cost vs. playing something from my hand.
As suspected the miracles are incredible in the deck. Lilliana +temporal master+ sensei's diving top can get silly. Really impressed with how amazing Vess is in this. Deck is immensely fun, and its ridiculous how OP doubling season is. I won my first commander game ever by way of ulting ral zarek instantly with a few walkers out and getting 4 turns.
Just a ton of fun. I do have a rules question though. How does a card like oath of gideon work with doubling season btw? My assumption is the walker gets double counters +1, and not +1 then that gets doubled.
I don't even think it would be occasionally. You have library, sensei's, jace, inquisition, vampiric tutor, oath of jace etc. to stack a miracle to the top, and way like sphinx/sensei's to draw it on your opponents turn, potentially squeezing in an extra turn without spending the mana on either your turns, which could make for massive impact. You can also give another player an extra turn on the fly, which in some cases could win a game if someones getting out of hand.
I'll be trying it, I think its well worth sneaking in somewhere. Similarly terminus seems immensely strong.
Another question- Why don't you have temporal mastery on this list? Seems broken with cards like sensei's, vampiric tutor, and to a lesser extent imperial seal and Jace putting it back on top. In multiplayer you can also sneak in an extra turn out of nowhere if you have a way to stack/draw it like with top. Do you just not feel you have space for it?
Also terminus, holy crap that card gets sick with top/vamp tutor.
Fortunately for the most part, the high cost of this deck isn't a big deal since I am coming from a completed cube, that has one copy of a lot of the more expensive cards, minus the very obscure ones I mentioned.
Makes sense about beast. It probably has better synergy with some of the plane walkers ults too, like tamiyo's.
I'm basically building this(I have a foiled out cube so I already have most of the cards, and picked up a few of the cheap cards today).
What would you replace the following with:
The dual lands(I have proxies for them but wondering if there are serviceable alternatives)
Imp seal(see above)
the tabernacle(no sexy proxy, and expensive)
the abyss(see above)
temporal manip/capture(see above)
time warp
temporal manipulation
capture
and temporal mastery

Question about this build. Is beast within considered an irreplaceable staple in commander or have you tried song of the dryads?
