Ria, this is really really really really minor, but you're missing a period at the end of the "This is where all Mafia games will take place" description of the sub.
It may have been that way for a while now, to be honest.
Pretty much. I want to transition to a rolling-blogpost style up front, so when a signup opens, I'll make a post. You can archive the signups as normal, & I can edit the post up front to make note of the game being underway.
Mafia subforum is now under Outside Magic directly, right above "Other Forum Games"
While I am here, I'd like to propose making new game signups a feature on the front page. Does anyone have an issue with this? The logistics are still being debated, but the FP is going to get a serious revamp & I'd like our awesome Mafia community to get some real estate & exposure
Did Ecophagy not post the Clan Contest Mafia setup to the Setup Archive? His co-host is limping along trying to run the game, while we have a system in place to avoid exactly that
The playerbase pretty much has to agree to that being desirable, though, or it's just a massive swing in policy that may well the culture.
Which entails some big talk about finding many examples to point to so a firm line can be drawn, to give players & staff something they can agree upon as a guideline for how to behave, & what can be expected to be moderated.
& after all that, people might still not sign up for that game. . . because it will take a while for the dust to settle & the lure of a Big Game to be felt again.
Those are some serious cards to put the table. Cracking down on spam may indeed shorten some otherwise ++y gamestates, but there are surely other factors contributing to lengthy days?
Since apparently all anyone wants to play is minis, it's hard to see that being a problem.
Fixed that for ya, it's just
Has anyone analyzed the swing for smaller games? I like a mini every now & again, but I definitely like large games more. . . the only real difference I see between when big games were the go & now are the Epic Day Lengths.
No more than Salve players are all like [X]. They banned Seppel, if that means anything to you
. . . but yes. The culture is different, the community much smaller & far more insular; personal conflict is kind of a matter of course as these guys have been trying to kill eachother for a decade in some cases.
They've moved away from large games, because GGery really only has ~2 dozen players to begin with, & so the last few have been very quick games rather like the ones Dragonheart91 mentioned (last game had 18 players, lasted barely 3 days).
To make them having an awkward phase while they make an adjustment to figuring out what is OK here ('cos yes, Salve's reputation is Nice Nice Ironmod Land), I've created a MEAN GAMES subforum in the Red Zone (if I can't FTQ REVENGE of Pick Order Mafia, I'll just wait my turn on the specialty list) where the twain can meet, so to speak.

9 roles, each pair of heads shares a single gimmick account. It's pretty amusing so far.

I might be crazy, but is there a reason the Secretary is not on the Council proper

I'll stick a redirect from MEAN GAMES to this sub, so there's a more direct connection backward. Cross pollination
