2nd question. Do we have any volunteers who want to create the new screening test for our reviewers, based on roles from old setups/old setups? Something that hits all the high points -traitors, alignment switching generally, cults, third-party win conditions, etc.
I could take a crack at it after the holiday. Maybe toss in a brief 'how to be a good reviewer' guide as well.

The Golden Rule of forums: If you're going to be rude, be right. If you might be wrong, be polite.
I think this is a tricky issue because potential solutions cause new problems, and I'm a firm believer that more rules you pile on and the more you formalize things, the more people take things too seriously and the less fun things get.
Dude, Zionite...you're acting like these forums are primarily about mafia and they're getting banned for messing up in the Debate subforum or something. Mafia is not the primary concern of the site's administrators. Yeah, it sucks, but it's not the admins' who don't care about the health of mafia games, it's the players who didn't care about the health of their games enough to intentionally do stuff to get themselves banned.

Already made some changes thanks to Kraj, so everyone can relax.
I think the game has the potential to be a very solid Normal setup after reworking, but I definitely won't recommend it as 'awesome enough to be worth wrangling 30 players".

Moderators are always forced to walk a wimbly-wombly line between applying good judgment and being fair. Applying good judgment means considering all the factors that might make something OK in one situation but not in another; being fair means being consistent. This particular situation has even more gray area than most, so the easiest solution may be to draw the line at personal attacks like the rest of the forum does. That being said...
I think the key factor is the big picture rather than the specific incident. Isolated incidents of calling someone stupid in a mafia game probably aren't an issue; after all, sometimes players are being stupid and sometimes it's because they're mafia lying through their teeth. Sometimes the only accurate way to describe and call out a lie is to point out how plain stupid it is. I think it becomes a problem when 1.) it's a new player who could very likely be turned off from the game by being ridiculed, and 2.) when the personal attacks become common in a game and the overall tone becomes highly combative.
Just my 2 cents.

I dont mind flavor but i really feel that we may run into a problem in which we get a really crappy game made out of a decent opening scene. Thoughts?
I'd be quite happy to donate design/review services to the winner of such a 'contest'.
About the PCQ, I agree with the idea that games should fire off "as needed" rather than one after the other. How about combining with the original FTQ concept a little and use it to actually speed up the queues? Say, demand for an extra game is identified and either a large game or a mini is chosen to meet the demand. If a mini is chosen, then any player signed up for a mini can submit there setup to be PCQ'd. If large is chosen then specialty or normal is also chosen (maybe take turns?), and the players signed up for the respective queue are allowed to compete. The PCQ winner uses up their slot in the queue.
This has the effect of speeding up the queues while also having all the same benefits of the PCQ. The one thing it loses is not just anybody can submit any game for any PCQ vote. BUT... 1. that's what the FTQ is for, and 2. it gives minis and normals a fair shake at getting fast-tracked.
I'm not a fan of alignment changes that could happen, as they are inherently swingy, but alignment changes that are certain can be planned and balanced. My opinion anways.
That's probably the crux, right there.
In CropCircles' Final Fanstasy VII game, there were 3 potential traitor roles with conditions for turning such that one and only one of them absolutely was going to become a traitor at some point, but which one was left to how the game played out. Perhaps it was partly due to the general mayhem of that game, but the system worked out pretty well.

In other news, I've cleaned up the player activity list in the Hosting/Signups thread. I've removed the names of people who had no notes and organized the list by requested replacement, forced replacement, and modkill. Hopefully this makes it easier for game mods to utilize the list.

Not to be a dick, because I do appreciate the recognition and compliment very much, but you've basically said, "The 'us vs. them' mentality on these forums is entirely the fault of the mods... except for the mods who are counted among 'us'." That doesn't seem like a very fair assessment to me. On one hand, it could be that me, arim, and rianalnn are simply better at communicating forum issues in ways that are pallatable to you because we understand your point of view better. On the other hand, it could be that the mafia community here is a rather tight-knit and insular group who maybe feel like site-wide issues don't really apply to them.
Whatever the reason, the notion that the staff here are doing anything other than serving the community as best they can really bothers me. Even if I strongly disagree with extremeicon in this case, I still know he's a damn good moderator who's doing what he believes is best and whom I've been proud to be on a team with for years.

That said,
A big reason I quit playing is because I was tired of poor setups having a bigger impact than how people played on the game result.
