**Miko arrives. If Burkhard doesn't knock on the door she does.**
Miko - "Here is what we have to say: Varel filled a sphere with his memories of Felix's death, which he feels will confirm that his sister was not the one that killed him. We also know the name of a mercenary group from a hundred years ago that was involved in the event - the shadow walkers. The sphere is single use, I saw Varel activate it in a way that looked like filling it with memories, but none of us can identify items. Your opinion?"
Miko - "I thought you said he had hesitated before deciding not to show you, on account of it containing secrets he felt were irrelevant to the situation. But it is relevant, so perhaps he spoke the truth of being willing to share the diary if he truly thought it would help?"
Miko - "This is going to be long and in multiple parts, so please let me speak to the end.**
**She turns to face Burkhard and Darla**
Miko - I don't see how her speaking to him in person makes anyone's task easier but ours, and she sees it to. First, Darla, the wood witch doesn't appear to have any proof besides her late father's words which is good enough for her but certainly not for Varel if he won't even accept her words. We're going to need to produce our own answers.
**She points at Burkhard.**
Miko - Burkhard, this was her grandfather. She's old. She either waited this long to have enough power to face him or to have few enough regrets to die if she didn't. And, even if we assume the scion hasn't done anything like this since, locking up the wood witch will solve as many problems as cursing people for something they did generations ago. The satisfying of one person's desire for vengeance. Perhaps it will also satisfy your desire for justice, since few stomachs have eyes. The wood witch isn't going to curse anyone else, and putting her in prison will do what, exactly? Her curse isn't even common knowledge."
**Miko spins around and points at the witch**
Miko - "Wait. I have something to say to you too. I know what it feels like to watch someone kill a member of your family, and I have personal experience with being on the sacrificial altar if not being the one left behind. It's not the same situation, but I'm closer than most. I'll probably never get to kill the one responsible, he's made many enemies more capable than I, but I'd like to do it.**
**Assuming everyone was kind enough to let her keep tal- nah, Miko keeps talking anyway, staring into the wood witch's eyes as she does so.**
Miko - "If I had the power to stroll over to his country and kill him right now I would. I know how you feel. But if it comes to pass that I find both him and the power to kill him half a century after he'd already given up his vile ways I would like to believe that I will have the strength to realize the man I want to kill is already gone."
**She throws up her hands**
Miko - "BUT! Maybe the woman was still performing heinous acts sight unseen and this vengeance has stumbled into justice the only way it ever does. Maybe the best thing to do is to kill the sleeper so her innocent brother can move on with his life. Or maybe he isn't innocent at all, a partner in crime that knows full well why he suffers and what he's done to earn it. We know none of those things! Do you know where we could start looking if we wanted to know what the actual situation is? I am not someone else's pawn!"
**The fennetian woman is finally silent, breathing heavy, intense breaths that eventually slow to a crawl.**
**The woman looks down at the suit again. Cursed? Is that why she felt like it was calling to her? Or... hrm. Her predecessors were also cursed, she supposed. Perhaps they could overturn that stigma together.**
Miko, to seamstress - "..Yes, I think I will keep it. Thank you for the warning."
**She turns to Burkhard**
Miko - "I agree, but would like to change my clothes first if you don't mind. I'll only be a moment."
**The woman motions to her body - it seemed to be struggling to fit inside the electric blue blouse she was currently wearing and it looked like she had hastily sewn more material onto her trousers quite recently.**
**Miko finds a box bound by twine beneath some of the cheaper suits. Hrm. She removes the bindings and looks inside. Within lay an outfit consisting of a long black vest, jet black trousers, a silver sash with 1" black zig-zaging lines at the ends, and striped shirt that alternated the black of a starless sky with a deep tyrian purple. On the vest's back was a stylized sun consisting of an inner purple spiral and disconnected silver lines with a distinctive brushed look. The outfit also included a pair of long socks whose colors matched the shirt, but they wouldn't be visible on the boot-wearing Miko. '200g' was scrawled on the back lid. Miko checks her pockets. She could buy this. Something felt right about it.**
**Miko Wyberg, a late arrival to Varel's mission, smirks at the offering. New clothes for a new life? How fitting. She'd need them fitted in the more literal sense as well - Misty's old clothing no longer exactly fit, the woman's body having shifted to be more like Ginko's former self. She hadn't had the chance to learn her new measurements. Misty's strength remained, however - Miko greatly appreciated being able to walk long distances without collapsing.
The woman checks her pocket to confirm her current funds - she had sold the "lucky" coin and a salad bowl she had sold on the way to the marketplace for a mix of coin and pawnables. Another stop on the way had turned that all to coin, along with Misty's old staff. Miko still had memories of needing one to walk, and in an uncharacteristic burst of emotion had decided she'd wanted to be rid of the device. Or was it uncharacteristic? She hadn't really taken the measure of her mind either.**
**Cee projects his voice into the market place, asking some folks from directions they aren't looking at 'what's the ghost guard?'; neither he nor Arl had ever familiarized themselves with the town nickname for the Sylvan Sentinel's facility.
Or at least, he starts doing that until Mirth shows up on his hidden rooftop with a clipping of the most recent paper.. that directly mentions the ghost guard.**
Disembodied Voice - "Right, Sentinel's place."
Arl - "Sounds like a plan! Good work everybody. Hopefully we won't need to question you again Dabba."
**The girl gets off the ground and dusts herself off. She waves at imaginary rooftop peoples before walking out of the ally, taking care to not look too happy for Dabba's sake.**
