"Thank you for everything. I must return to Estark now, but I'm sure we will meet again. Good luck with those bandits" he said receiving the gem. He wanted to try out the new spell, but he didn't dare gathering more mana in his current state. He grabbed the remaining Ornithopter scroll in his satchel, summoned the thopter.
Fortunately, he remembered how to fly the thing without watching Kassim. He got on, happy to have a nice long flight to rest his body.
OOC: Assuming nothing happens, I will continue by posting in Saffi and Hans.
OOC: If you're wondering why I held the goblins back, I was worried there was going to be 4x Lightning Bolt, 1 Shock with the 5 mana (2 my turn, 3 yours) you had, and I didn't want the Lavamancer to come in for one and kill me.
From one knee, Vorin couldn't move a muscle. He was fortunate to be conscious. His head was buzzing and he felt as if there was no energy in his body at all. There was a loud buzzing in his head. After about 30 seconds, he managed to stand up woozily and shook his head gently until the buzzing stopped. He was clearly standing gingerly and looked like he might collapse any second.
Felix may be an expert in red mana, but Vorin could not take this advice to heart. His tribe of elves were known for being ruthless, but not because they are excessive. The elves are precise and exact in their attacks, and then they leave. Unnecessary over-extension could be fatal, and Vorin knew it.
As he recovered, he look over at Felix with a great deal of pride. Felix, one who he had revered as an extremely powerful mage stood in front of Vorin, defeated by a novice. He saw the scratches and minor burns on his opponent and simply lost respect. Vorin had walked into this fight ready to lose and learn something, but Felix held back, even when Vorin asked him not too. His information was beyond useful, but clearly this man could teach him nothing more about his condition. In his mind, Felix became an eyeblight.
Vorin finally spoke up after gaining some of his energy back. Though Felix seemed inferior now, his tone did not change. The ability to deceive eyeblights was extremely important in the training of young elves, so Vorin sounded completely sincere. "Thank you for taking the time to train with me. I really should return to meet up with my partner before I go..." He paused, realizing he might be able to gain something out of the situation he was in. "However, I would love to learn to do this spell you were talking about a moment ago. I need some new, powerful tricks. Can you teach me?"
Vorin watched the goblins fry and felt somewhat indifferent. They had done their duty and given him just enough time. He knew what he had to do, and was somewhat surprised that Felix hadn't beaten him too it. Red mana was about sudden eruptions of power and uncontrollable energy...Vorin just wasn't sure if his body would be able to handle it.
As Felix attacked Vorin's goblins, Vorin prepared an attack of his own. He shot a large incinerating blast at Felix, which drained his strength. Before he had a chance to recover, he took out a different gem from his satchel and attacked Felix with a small blast of electricity.
(EOT: Incinerate and Shock. You=6)
Suddenly, all of Vorin's mana returned to him, and Felix was left weak and completely exposed. Vorin breathed deeply and gathered more mana into his body. He began to prepare another incinerating spell in each hand. As mana was draining, he remembered what Felix said about how the mana could be eating him up inside. He felt the muscles in his arm contract tightly. He grounded himself with the blast in his hand, suddenly unable to move. He paused to think, but then realized he had paused and fired the blasts at Felix without another second of hesitation. As the mana left his body he felt a sudden feeling of relief, but then collapsed and fell to one knee, still conscious.
(Untap, play Mountain, cast Incinerate x2. Game?)
Vorin gathers more red mana into his body and sustains it. As the mana floods through his veins, his core begins to tense up. His face scrunches up, but he quickly regains his composure.
The two remaining goblins are angered by the death of other two and look at Vorin to charge once more. Vorin orders them to stay back and guard him, as he doesn't want them to be annihilated like the others. Plus, as his body was becoming weaker with pain from the red mana every second, he did not want to be unprotected. The goblins appear to ignore this order at first, but Vorin reaches out and physically stop them from charging. They begrudgingly stay behind.
Vorin is shocked as Felix seems to gather red mana from nowhere, but smiles at the familiar spell he casts.
Ignoring the lavamancer, Vorin conjures some more red mana to match that of Felix. He extends his arms, and without thinking, releases the mana to summon two more goblins. The three goblins see the charred remains of their friend, and they charge directly at Felix.
Vorin became slightly disappointed that Felix wasn't gathering any red mana, but he passed this off momentarily, confident that red mana would come.
Seeing the whipping winds of the desert, Vorin gathered up the energy from the oasis to protect his summons from any coming storms. The relief from red mana was very soothing to Vorin.
Without exerting much more energy, Vorin summoned another goblin. The goblins started momentarily at each other, then charged immediately towards Felix.
"D-don't hold back" Vorin stuttered at first, but said the rest of the phrase with confidence.

Vorin reached for his satchel and paused for a second before gathering his mana, trying to recount everything Felix had just told him, but then he stopped himself. He remembered to be impulsive and without missing a beat instinctively drew upon some red mana. Hyper-vigilant of himself, he notice that as he gathered the mana, he pulled his hands into his body and drew his elbows into his sides as he drew upon the mana. He felt the red mana rushing through his body and began to understand what Felix was saying. Green mana is impulsive, and spreads through the body like a forest, slowly and gradually, but the red mana rushes through his body like a wildfire.
Realizing he had been pausing for a few seconds, and that Felix was standing there waiting, he quickly grabbed a gem from his satchel, extended his arm fully, and conjured a small goblin at his side.
As the mana was released, Vorin winced slightly, but tried to ignore any pain he was feeling, to prove his strength.
The goblin clearly recognized Felix from the earlier encounter in the desert, which Vorin had all but repressed, and charged Felix immediately.
Vorin understood and he nodded to show it. He had never really learned green mana either. The elves only taught him elven lifestyle and how to fight.
He thought for a second, then finally responded. "Right, then can you show me?". He reached towards his satchel with an eagerness in his eyes. "Take a few moments to spar with me. Is there an arena in this town?"
Vorin's was rapt throughout Felix's entire explanation. He was shocked that the mage knew so much and took a moment to contemplate each of Felix's three possibilities.
"So pretty much, I just need to become stronger, right? Either train my body to use the mana, help my body rediscover green mana, or become strong enough that I can find a way to reverse this process?" He looked back at Felix and there was a long pause as Vorin thought this over more.
"So can you help me? I've never met a red mage like you before. We passed the test you use to test new mages, so can you train me like you would them? If only for a few days...I don't think I can get any better just flailing around with red mana as I am."
Vorin was slightly shocked at Felix's willingness to talk.
"Red mana is new to my body" He said somewhat shamefully. "I am an elf deep from the Gilt-Leaf Woods." There was some pride in this statement, as he seemed to be forgetting that it was true a lot, but as he continued the story, be began to sound shameful again. "I used to be a master of green mana just like the rest of my tribe. Not long ago, I was ambushed by a tribe of flamekin. They left me for dead, and my body was burned and scarred. When I regained consciousness, the green mana in my body was completely gone, and I could no longer access it. However, something took its place in me, and was keeping me alive. There was this new burning sensation, and over time, I began to turn it into red mana and mastered a few red spells. However, my elven body rejects this mana. My body aches every time I gather mana, especially for a drawn out period of time. Every since I've started using this mana, I've been searching for powerful red mages, those who could teach me to control this mana, and teach my body to use if efficiently as opposed to rejecting it."
Vorin was confused at the comment...wasn't Felix there? He shook it off and nodded. What happened by the totem had been so bizarre, and he wanted to focus on what he knew wasn't a test or an illusion.
"Felix, I came back to ask you for some training...I've been feeling red mana radiating from you since we arrived" (Vorin was gazing at the red headband Felix has been wearing). "You must know something that will help me master this red mana that is eating away at my body. I haven't learned to use it correctly yet, and I'm sure a powerful mage such as yourself must have something to teach me."
Vorin slowed down at the end. He wasn't used to asking for help, but he had been rehearsing what he would say since parting ways with Kassim. Of course, he couldn't help but sound awkward.
Vorin also turned away and walked back towards the village. He was glad he had completed the long grueling task. The red mana was beginning to feel more natural, and the fact that he had used it successfully validated him.
However, he still had a lot to learn about this mana, so walked back towards the village, his mind set on encountering Felix...
OOC: CK, if you want to end this, we can. I don't mean to drag it out, but Vorin would really like to meet up with Felix.
