Back from GP action!
Since I don't play T2, I brought a troll deck (mono black control with Chromatic Lanterns and Door to Nothingness) and actually doored someone during the main tournament. I eventually switched to side events, rocked chaos draft and spent the night getting drunk and playing Commander. Awesome!
@ BYOB: never played on cockatrice and the time for my semester thesis has come, so can't help you there. Although, I'd probably choose Onslaught/Tempest (or Saga)/VI, build a Rifter.
Tempest Rifter, spontaneous list, borrowing off my Legacy Rifter (Tempest/Onslaught/VI)
Considering I have access to both Cataclysm, Decree of Annihilation and Apocalypse, I could also run Astral Slide/Exalted Angel, cycle the angel to safety and nuke the planet. Fun times!
Saga would trade Humility for Fluctuator and more cycling lands, and can either use VI for Tutor/Wrath of God or shift into another core set.
Edit: after sleeping a night over it, I would really love to run Life from the Loam with cycling lands. Also, color fix through shocklands.
BLARGH.
No net for the entire day thanks to university WLAN going haywire thanks to preparations for today's movie night.
@ Battle of the Stars: Im not really into either of them. I prefer Dr. Who (so many amazing episodes! Especially love Blink and Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead) and any Terry Pratchett novel I can get my hands on.
@ Lovecraft: absolutely awesome. So much inspiration for nightmares to throw at my RPG group ...
@ Magic: GP Bochum incoming! Time for another Magic overdose.
@ Panoptic shenanigans: Beacon is, in my opinion, too expensive to load onto the mirror. Boomerang on a stick is a great idea though. We could also load the scepter with Fire//Ice for repeated tap/burn/draw. Or Brainstorm.
@ today's Uncharted Realms article: WOOOH! *drools all over the keyboard*
Go Dimir!
No, I've got it! The prerelease event for Dragon's Maze will be sealing everyone inside of a giant booby-trapped maze and whoever gets to the cup at the center wins extra prizes. It's like the Triwizard Tournament, except there's a huge chance of being eaten by rabid manticores.
Do want!
I assume the story they began last wednesdey with the crazy Izzet researcher trying to ring 7 belltowers at once, mind-blasting half the city in the process and eventually stumbling over hidden force-lines will somehow play into this. I mean ... hidden magical lines you only see when you toss insane amounts of energy around - and the Izzet currently are beefing up their power grid?
Woohoo - I survived lab week without blowing something up!
Upcoming: Tribal tournament on first December week-end. Since I love to tap islands, I'm considering either U/B wizards (with Circu, Dimir Lobotomist and Shadowmage Infiltrator) or an Esper Sphinx deck. Any recommendations for other fun tribes or cards I could take along?
Back from France and still a bit spell-shocked from all that Magic. My Heartbeat Combo didn't too well on the main event (I don't actually play Modern), but it was a blast to play and combo-kill unsuspecting opponents.
They count. With as little entries as I've seen so far, I'm excepting just about anything....
Well, going to give it a shot, then. I never carved a pumpkin before, as Halloween isn't exactly a Swiss tradition. Nonetheless, yay for pumpkin soup with curry and chopped off fingers!
Sorry can't help you there. While I may try my luck on any unfortunate pumpkin getting too close to my tools (ie acrylic paint, superglue and sharp knives), I suppose external pumpkins don't count.
I cannot overemphasise how much Dryad Militants kick ass in this deck. Actually. A 2/1 for one, multicolour (gets the New Alara buff) and hoses flashback. So stoked this thing saw print!
Hate that guy with a passion. It royally screwed the first iteration of my Modern Epic Experiment/Heartbeat dual-combo pile as I looped the entire deck with Psychic Spirals. Can't really loop when the exile pile is bigger than when playing Doomsday!
@ Gatecrash: if the trend of turning the planes we visit upside down (see Alara, Zendikar, Mirro-uh-Phyrexia II) continues, I'm afraid there won't be much of Ravnica left when we're through. I assume Niv's experiments will eventually trigger something, but as with everything involving Murphy's Laws and insane amounts of energy, something WILL go wrong.

Wait ... what?
BTW: there's another GP nearby (3 hours by train) in 2 weeks. Unfortunately, it's T2, my weakest format. Turbo-Fog or Epic Experiment?

Oh, and ...
Boo!
Happy Halloween to all of you!
