I never put smutt on my Tumblr because it's the closest thing I have to a personal website or portfolio for graphic design and illustration. My friend bioandroid.tumblr.com runs a smutty blog called sugardick (the name of which makes me laugh every time for some reason) if anyones interested in that sort of thing. Beefy guys and bears galore.
By boyfriend got me a bottle of the George Takei cologne Eau My.
Yay!
Awww that's sweet
Re: Tumblr - Mine is in my sig as well, although I'm pretty sparse on updates for the time being. I'd like to make it something more and have plans to in the near future.
Been dealing with depression due to my current life situation lately.
In brighter news, though, me and the boyfriend played Standard for the first time since Scars rotated out at the Theros Game Day. He ran Mono-B Devotion and I ran Mono-R devotion. Neither of us did well, but that was a given since we built our decks at the last moment. Regardless, it was really fun and nice to play Magic again, since we have to hide the cards from his hardcore Christian father and step mother that think they're tarot cards.
* Xenphire sighs
Also, the new Commander decks are really fun - I'm loving them.
Mine does We went to his first Grand Prix earlier this year, and most recently the Theros pre-release. The flavor of the set has him geeking out and between the two of us we've pulled three Xenagos, the Reveler which helps Currently we're building Soul Sisters (Modern) and Manaless Dredge (Legacy) for him, and potentially getting into Standard.
Only Blue can edit the original post, but truthfully it's severely out of date. Since Blue is really busy, perhaps we should think about creating a fresh Gaymers thread - this one's been around for ages, now, and we could afford a new one Blue did say he didn't mind someone more active taking over the next one.
I went over there and posted this in response to that judge's comments:
While I can see why not everyone would like "Roger, Sliver Queen", to use Josh Dearing's artwork in the same breath as "Neo-Nazism", "Gay" and "border humor" really shows how culturally devoid that judge is. It's just another example of a side effect of an over-the-top state of political correctness in the country; wherein, people get off by standing on their moral pedestals and calling an ace a spade when they don't fully understand what they're looking at. The comment is basically a self-fulfilling prophecy in that it invokes some sort of underlying controversy with the humor - a controversy that was never there until the judge created it for himself. I'm not posting here to say that "Roger, Sliver Queen" should have won, because there is some fantastic talent here; I'm posting to ask for that judge to pull his head out of his ass and bite his tongue if he doesn't get the humor of a piece instead of trying to make assumptions and conjure controversy stemming from society's asinine need for political correctness. I for one appreciate the inherent nod towards the LBGT community, and if you can't laugh at this piece then never watch Rupaul's Drag Race (which happens to be a fairly popular show; if American society can run with Rupaul without twisting it into something it's not, then what's the issue here? Just ignorance, really).
I haven't really thought about the gayest card in a while. Rakish Heir perhaps?
I think you guys should make a new thread with a new lead poster. I come to Sally once in a while for spoiler info but I am so busy with school and ...well school that I haven't had a chance to maintain or develop any friendships in here.
I hope you guys will find someone to host the next thread who can be a little more active. Love this place
Hey there, Micah - Glad you're still lurking a bit. The thread just isn't the same without you, haha! I hope that school and everything is going well for you
I'm so sorry to hear that I know the feeling - I had started a new job here in Houston not long ago and it turned out to be a very well-disguised pyramid scheme.
Tell me about it. Alberta is currently experiencing the Aquacalypse. Calgary, FortMac, Red Deer, Canmore/Banff. Edmonton saw a bit of evacuations, but luckily our river valley is really deep. I crunched the numbers and there's virtually no way for the downtown/Strathcona core to flood the same way Calgary did. And, incidentally, all the polar ice could melt and the city would still likely be just fine.
But as much as Edmonton dodged a bullet, the rest of the province got slapped hard. Almost every major population centre was under flood watch in at least one district. Terrifying.
I've heard about the flooding up there D: I'm glad you guys are alright. Stay safe, don't drive where there's water over the road, etc. You know, the obvious and usual stuff.
Are you alright? Do you require cuddles? (A boy can hope, dangit)
I can talk the boyfriend into letting you cuddle with us
Things are okay down here in Texas. The boyfriend and I are getting a place together in the near future! It'll be really nice since at the moment we only get to see each other a day and a half out of the week.
We got Duels of the Planeswalkers 2014 and have really been enjoying it. The decks in it can be ridiculously fun. ExpiredRascals talked me into trying to make a Cube, and some of the decks in the game have given me some inspiration for a peasant cube (Eldrazi Ramp, for example).
And, I'm moderating Magic General, now. Not to toot my own horn, but I think I'm doing pretty good. Three weeks ago when I started, I was logging in to 14-17 PM's every morning. I'm down to 0-2, now. It feels good to kinda clean up in there.
On a completely different note: Do many of you guys have Steam or use Facebook, and would be interested in adding each other? The clan here is really dead these days, sadly, but I like a lot of you and it'd be neat to chat or game. If any of you are interested, don't hesitate to send me a PM or post your Steam info if you have it (I don't expect you to post Facebook info here in public). I have Denya on Steam and we chatted the other day for a bit, and it made me think about this
Got to the Grand Prix and registered. The food stand was even worse than normal at GP's. A burrito was like $9, so we didn't eat until we were done at the GP, because the parking garage toll was $10, and there wasn't any re-entering if you left without paying again.
me. Opened my packs, saw the foil Deathrite Shaman, but from how everyone was talking around me, it sounded like we had to trade decks three times. The guy to my left pulled a foil Voice of Resurgence, and he ended up dropping, too.
We bought 4-5 Modern Masters packs and pulled all jank 'cept the Goyf. Sold the Goyf for $75 to one of the vendors, but held on to my DRS. Got the Mimick Vat, Yosei, Rune-Scarred and Karmic Guide for my Commander deck, so I finally have important parts of my combo engines, again. Upgraded on the Guide, though. Got the judge promo Karmic Guide for $20. Also got two Blinkmoth Nexus, so now I only need one for those. Got Jereme some stuff for his Brunna EDH, aka Ultramega Voltron Angel. Found an awesome hole-in-the-wall Mexican place, and we're ordering about 50 cards for his EDH deck for $12 on TCGplayer.
me
Oh, we did a Sealed 2HG. He ended up playing Rakdos with a green splash, I was playing Selesnya with a blue splash. He had Rakdos's Return, Necropolis Regent, Rubblehulk, Legion Loyalist, Sire of Insanity. I had Supreme Verdict, and Skarrg Goliath. Our 8th rare was Tajric, Blade of the Legion but we didn't use him; the pool couldn't support playing him in my deck. I ended up with a control route and the bf was heavy aggro.. He was using Bloodrush on my flying creatures and voltron'in 'em up while I protected his. Went 8-0. Was pretty sick.
Grats on the decent pulls, guys None of the stores in my area were doing any kind of release event for Modern Masters, so I haven't gotten to crack any packs at all. Truthfully I just wanted to crack 2-3 packs for the fun of it to see what I get, but I also don't want to pay the $11.50+ a pack all the stores here are charging. Too bad I'm not still in Omaha, as the big store there ran three drafts for $28 a draft.
Well, on the bright side I'm going to be headed to Grand Prix Houston with the boyfriend next weekend. The promo playmat and card for the event are pretty sick:
It's RTR Block Sealed Day 1, and draft Day 2. Since I don't have anything close to a complete deck to compete with, this was pretty much my only opportunity to actually attend a large event for a while. Apparently we get a free RTR sealed event on Friday for pre-registering, so I'm hoping we can make it down there for that.
Any other Gaymers going to be at the GP?
...I just realized Gaymers consists of like 5 people these days
Personally I'm all for the changes mentioned. I think the old rule really cheapened the value of legendaries by letting you play one just for the sake of getting rid of any your opponent(s) controlled. From my perspective, being able to do that defeated the entire point of the card being a permanent. With the exception of Uril the Miststalker and Sigarda, Host of Herons it only does good things. I've argued in the Rumor Mill that it wasn't exactly like everyone who plays Commander plays with those legends in their deck so as to be able to answer them so I felt it was largely a moot point. I also tried to make a point that if they're that much of a problem for Commander and the change to the Legend rule effects EDH in a negative manner because of it, then that is merely a sympton of a bigger problem. There are definitely ways to get around them, though.
I'm mostly glad for the changes because as a Legacy player I thought it was ridiculous to see Jace, the Mind Sculptor being countered with other Jaces. I just can't stand by legendaries and planeswalkers simply being tossed onto the battlefield as a form of removal for other copies. It never sat well with me. Maybe since people will have to actually play removal for Umezawa's Jittes and JTMS, the price on them may come down a bit as it's no longer a case of needing them to counter other decks to make room for other match-ups in the sideboard.
How about Modern Masters, though? There's been quite a few new Modern Masters cards leaked today. Aether Vial was upgraded to rare, and Ryusei, the Falling Star was upgraded to Mythic (surely because there are so few Red rares/mythics being played in Modern and the rest made little sense to upgrade to Mythic in his place). I'm glad to see Arcbound Ravager and Sword of Light and Shadow as well as Sword of Fire and Ice being reprinted.
I'm not too surprised that is Doug's stance on it since creative has given us a few nods in the past, especially with certain Vampires I enjoyed his answer to the question (and hey, Doug himself is pretty cute :p).
Looks like for YMTC4 so far Consuming Contract, Revenge of Necromancy and Eldritch Rites are in the lead. I like all three, but I'm still rooting for Eldritch Rites because it's so ridiculously easy to recur sacrificial fodder for it. Consuming Contract will be really difficult to build around with the last mode and Revenge of Necromancy relies on one of the weakest strats out there: Discard. I don't think Eldritch Rites will end up costing more than three mana due to the requirements of other cards on top of needing the mana to flashback a spell, whereas Necromancy will definitely be overcosted and Consuming Contract will probably be reasonably costed for it's inevitable major drawback.
Anyway, now to pass out while playing Pokemon X
