Interest this month seems to be lower than normal. Would people prefer that we just re-do signups and someone else handle this month (that is, is there that little interest in the storyline I'm trying to provide that people would rather have someone else come up with a different storyline)?
Eskimo_Rage has requested a replacement, so the first person to PM me will get that slot. You'll need to post R1 critiques and a card for Round 2, and your base color identity will be WUG (from which you'd have to either drop two colors, drop one color in place of either red or black, or go to WUBRG for your Round 2 card).
In any event, I believe the organiser simply didn't believe it would fill up as rapidly as it did, which was an unfortunate miscalculation, but nothing more. One can only hope anyone considering using a similar format in the future will learn from this.
Exactly this. I'm used to giving a week for signups and only hitting 32 by the next-to-last day. I was somewhat tempted to throw in a second block of 32 signups, but didn't because I was highly doubtful that I'd get more than a quarter of that block.
I keep forgetting that my months are popular despite (or maybe because) their being "let's experiment with the format" months.
As usual with this sort of advice, what I say and what your fellow contestants choose to critique on may be two different things, but I'd be okay with the second case if you're using a keyword. If you're not, then you're better off sticking with making sure that both cards actually have that mechanic.
