Now, to ask all ya'll, is there a coalated list of each type of counter that has been used on a MTG card? Stuff like charge counters, quill counters etc. I can't really think of a way to MagicCards.info the search without a lot of bleed over from counterspells.
I´m so sad I missed the deadline this round... It was an AMAZING theme for an MCC, being one of the most amusing ones in a long time (no merit disregarding about previous rounds at all.)
I hope everyone who made it on time still having a great month! (I'll be following it closely)
You're in, Moss. Grats! (I hope to make it too sometime before year's end. I bet those Pro Tours must be the most exciting experience in the CCC forums!)
@Koopa: I think it was a great chance to force our lazy butts to move from our comfort zones and to explore/learn about the "less popular" formats of the game. This definitely was a good oportunity to expand our personal design spaces, at least for a while, and to breath some fresh air (I've even checked out a couple of these formats for the very first time!)
Current MCC was greatly oriented too, IMO. MCC is getting pretty fun and defiant lately (me likes.)
That seems like the best reason to participate, to me. You can't improve the weak parts of yourself if you don't exercise them.
%100 agreed. ME, c'mon... Give this a try and polish your weakest designer side.
EDIT: FOr the record, flavor has been the hardest part for me, since I'm not an english native speaker. I think I've got better, but still needing to improve.
I think the MCC Hammer thing is... "cute". The only issue I could see is the fact that, in case the one who singed in with it forgets to clarify his original username at the end of the OP, and any of us wants to PM him/her for any particullar reason, well... We just don't know to who direct our PM. Beside this trifle, I think it's fine. I don't see it necessary (unless I'm missing something), but neither I feel it's a problem.
If I may offer a piece of feedback for future judgings? I don't mind getting a bad balance score, I knew the costing would be pretty controversial no matter which direction I went. But it would be nice when you call a design broken to give some reasoning behind it.
Oh, buddy, I wouldn't recommend you commenting on this publicly. This user seems to get a bit sensitive somehow (it seems to be better if commenting on his/her statements about the MCC through PM.)
Shame on you for not posting this thread as MCC Hammer.
Well, that would be easily fixable if MCC Hammer could have mod faculties (wich I think would be a little problematic since, theoretically, many non-mod users are able to sign in as the hammer), or if a CCC mod couldbe able to sing in as MCC Hammer while conserving his mod faculties (I'm wondering if that would even be possible?)
Yeah, I must recognize that, even if spezza19's card is one of those cards that does not seem like a "serious" design, it's so cleverly made that you finally say: What the heck! ... It's a ton of fun!
I'm not a commander fan (even when I'm making a Karn deck myself), but I just imagine how funny a commander game could become once this hits the table, and it sounds really hilarious (specially the part in wich everyone starts begging for a couple of tokens )
EDIT: Well, here comes the mean part of the post, but I wouldn't have given the perfect score, since the round isn't %100 EDH aligned (so Spike and Timmy have nothing to do with it), but would still have given a high score for sure.
Well, the fact that designing a card themed around the commander and all the things attached to the concept (commander's identity; command zone, etc) will automatically derivate in a low score regarding viability... well... kinda sucks. It would have been great to have a month/round focused on this, adapting viability parameters to the proposed scenario (cutting Spike from the formula, making an extra-juicy vorthos round.)
I've just posted my card, wich I'm very proud of, but still being frustrating the fact that there's no way I could get a perfect score or even less. The result: I'm going to change my entry to a card that has both, constructed and casual appealing, to at least still having the chance of a high score.
Seconded, GM. I do exactly the same while searching for threads I want post in here, in the CCC forums.
Anyway, it would be SO cool to have a "sub-sticky" tool for official game/contest threads (that creates a second list of stickies above under the main one)
As long as it has a Rupture Spire styled sac effect (When ~ enters the battlefield, sacrifice it unless you sacrifice a creature.) or something similar a land will qualify.
Probably a silly question, but the card must be a card that has to be "casted"? What about a land, wich would have to be "played"? I'm asking cause I've got a cute idea for a land, but lands aren't casted (doh!)
Well, I usually make use of the database at gatherer.wizards.com.
//gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?action=advanced&text=+[counter">+[on]+![+1/+1]+![-1/-1]+![countered]&type=+![instant]"]here's a pretty accurate search including charge counters, but no +1/+1 or -1/-1 counters.
//gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?action=advanced&text=+[counter">+[on]+![+1/+1]+![-1/-1]+![countered]+![charge]&type=+![instant]"]Here's the same search without the cards that uses charge counters (wich happen to be a lot.)
Finally, here you have an exhaustive list of counters from our beautiful wiki.
I hope this helps you, Baconcatbug

Who's the smartass now?
You just made my day.
On a different matter: Well, that would be easily fixable if MCC Hammer could have mod faculties (wich I think would be a little problematic since, theoretically, many non-mod users are able to sign in as the hammer), or if a CCC mod couldbe able to sing in as MCC Hammer while conserving his mod faculties (I'm wondering if that would even be possible?)

Sad Panda is sad.
