yeah, maybe later i'll do a search to see how many people came up with a version of spectacle. there's going to be a lot, we've been waiting for that one awhile...
Ambush Tigers2GG
Creature - Cat Beast
Flash
Partykicker 2(Each player may pay an additional 2 any number of times as you cast Ambush Tigers.)
When Ambush Tigers enters the field, each player puts a token copy of it onto the field for every time they kicked it.

2/2
Flameblast Phoenix1R
Creature — Phoenix (U)

At the beginning of the end step, sacrifice Flameblast Phoenix.
Whenever you attack with three or more creatures, return Flameblast Phoenix from your graveyard to the battlefield tapped and attacking.

iiw: Create an EDH general AKA Commander. I know, I know, this challenge has been done plenty of times. But here's the twist: Also create two "sub-commanders" that are meant to be played with your commander. Each of the sub-commanders should be a legendary creature that shares one or more colors with its commander or is colorless. They are meant to be cast from the command zone just like their commander.
Damage dealt by sub-commanders contributes to the 21-commander-damage kill rule and is not counted separately but collectively.
The "respawn" cost is also shared. Whenever your commander or one of the sub-commanders returns to the command zone the cost to recast each of them (all of them) is increased by 2.
^similar to the idea of the Partners from the Commander 2016 set
Heliod, The Fallen 2WB
Legendary creature - Human God Coward
Lifelink
Last Strike (this creature deals combat damage after the regular damage step.)
Whenever an enchantment enters the battlefield, exile ~. Retuen him to the battlefield under your control at the beggining of the next end step.
Uiro, Flurrying Wind1WG
Legendary creature - Human Monk {M}
Triple Strike (This deals first-strike, regular and last-strike damage.)

how many designers over the years have independently come up with last / triple strike? countless. well, now it's finally showed up in Unstable, almost obligatorily...
Astral Possession3UU
Sorcery MR
Skip your next turn. Target player other than you takes an extra turn after this one. You control that player during that turn.
i also created, but haven't posted here, a card pretty much the same as Cruel Entertainment, except it was both blue n black. and it traded control of an opponent's next turn for that player's control of your next turn, instead of any two players.
prior to the original innistrad n its werewolves being released i had an idea in my head about a mechanic that turned on and off based on whether you cast 2+ or 0 spells each turn.
Faerie Aerie is somewhat like a sorcery i made called Ophidian Swarm that for 2GG made three 1/1 Snakes with haste that each draw you a card if they damaged an opponent n they died at end step, but didn't fly of course.
i also made a minotaur called Lord of the Labyrinth a long time ago that worked much like Archangel of Tithes

Twinsplit2GU
Sorcery (R)
Put two tokens onto the battlefield that are each a copy of target creature, except one copy has no abilities and the other copy is 1/1.
Yawgmoth's Domain4BB
Enchantment (R)
When Yawgmoth's Domain enters the battlefield, exile target player's graveyard.
You may play cards exiled with Yawgmoth's Domain.
i designed that to be a slightly simpler version of Yawgmoth's Agenda without the overly expansive drawbacks. Hedonist's Trove ended up being more nerfed, that's fair, but is sadly more wordy than the Agenda rather than less
Might of Selesnya4WG Enchantment
Convoke (Each creature you tap while casting this spell reduces its cost by 1 or by one mana of that creature's color.)
Creatures you control get +2/+2.
Metamorphic HydraX1GU
Creature - Hydra Shapeshifter (R)
Metamorphic Hydra enters the battlefield as a copy of any creature on the battlefield, except with X additional +1/+1 counters on it.

Gain control of target spell. You may choose new targets for it. (If it's a permanent, it enters the battlefield under your control.)
Now for a why haven't they printed this spell yet.
Demand2UUU
Instant (R)
Gain control of target spell. You may choose new targets for it.
Simple enough effect, blue is known for theft, and is king of stack interaction. So why not, Wizards? I'm basing the cost off of Desertion and Spelljack. It beats Desertion in most cases. But it can't stop field wipes like Spelljack can, hence the higherU requirement at Desertion's cost.
Will of the Firemind 4UR
Instant
Gain control of target spell. If that spell has targets, you may choose new targets for it. (Permanent spells you control enter the battlefield under your control)
this idea is based on speculation over what the Magic Origins semi-core set might contain:
Liliana, Apprentice NecromancerBB
Legendary Creature - Human Wizard (M)
Whenever another creature dies, put a loyalty counter on Liliana. Then, if Liliana has six or more loyalty counters, transform Liliana.
Remove a loyalty counter from Liliana: Regenerate target creature.
2/2
//// Liliana, Planeswalker
Planeswalker - Liliana (M)
<+X>: As an additional cost to activate this ability, exile X creature cards from among graveyards.
<-X>: Return target creature card with converted mana cost X from a graveyard to the battlefield under your control.
like some others i guessed that Origins would have legends that transformed into planeswalkers. Liliana, Heretical Healer & Liliana, Defiant Necromancer just got revealed, and her -X ability is very close to what i imagined.
i also considered using the pronoun "her" on the legendary side of my version, but i ended up skirting that issue and used her name instead of the word "it." note that Liliana, Heretical Healer uses the feminine possessive pronoun in self reference.
I was working on a custom set and I made a mechanic called insanity, which was basically dash except the creature was sacrificed eot instead of returned to hand. I now have to think of a new mechanic to define my insane cultists...
sacrificing instead of returning to hand is a better way to go, design space wise. etb and attack triggers pair better with the more evoke-like version of this mechanic. (Skizzik might be considered the first card with this ability, only reversed. or it could be said Sneak Attack gave all your creatures this ability...)
the idea tho seems to have been thought up by just about everyone at some point:
Berserk 2 - (B/R)(B/R)(B/R)(B/R)(You may cast this for its berserk cost. If you do, it enters the battlefield with two +1/+1 counters on it and gains haste and trample until end of turn. Sacrifice it at the beginning of the next end step.)
Berserk R (You may cast this for its berserk cost as though it had flash. If you do, it gains haste and trample until end of turn. Sacrifice it at the beginning of the next end step.)
Rave (You may cast this spell for its rave cost. If you do, it enters the battlefield with haste and "At the beginning of the end step, sacrifice this creature.")
Berserk (R/G)(You may cast this for its berserk cost as though it had flash. If you do, it gains haste and trample. Sacrifice it at the beginning of the next end step.)
Accelerate RRR(You may cast this
card for RRR instead of its mana cost. If you do, it gains haste and “Sacrifice this permanent at the
beginning of the next end step.”)
Hellridden X (You may cast this spell for its hellridden cost. If you do, it gains haste. Sacrifice it at the beginning of the end step.)
This ability only goes on creatures, although I suppose I could probably put it in an artifact or enchantment.
Also I need a new name for Hellridden. Help suggest bros!
Inspire 1R (You may cast this card for it's Inspire cost. If you do, it gains Haste. Sacrifice it at the beginning of the next end step or if it would leave the battlefield).
You may pay R rather than ~'s mana cost. If you do, ~ enters the Battlefield with haste, trample and "At the beginning of your end step, sacrifice ~.".
