...I'm a blue player and I want this banned. The only problem with dream halls is that it creates card disadvantage the cards you play have to count more than omniscience. Omniscience allows you to set up and dig way easier than dream halls. Sure dream halls comes down faster, but the actual execution of the spells is harder to pull off, you have less of a margin of error. Omniscience just doesn't whiff nearly as hard.
If you aren't winning with Dream Halls, then you are doing it wrong. I think we've already discussed this a million times and no one's position is going to change. Playing Black Lotus is only a one-time effect so that must be bad.
Well I built a Horde of Notions deck that abuses it as a 2nd combo. 3 different combos to prevent any loss of 1 combo. Also, I have 4 pieces that are used to try to protect Omniscience and Conflux is usually the 1st thing I tutor for after it resolves.
This. MoM doesn't get there if you don't have a slew of tutor and draw spells to back it up. Like I said before, I think Omniscience needs to interact with the format a bit before we can come to anything conclusive.
You also need draws spells or tutors to take advantage of Omniscience unless you already have game winner in your hand. Then again MoM is same thing. In fact, you only really need a Jace Archivist to get to your wincon most of the time.
Btw, mind over matter and dream halls are pretty comparble to it. You can't knock it until youve abused the hell out of these. All of these enchnatments require good deckbuilding and basically mostly bulit around it.
So no one really claims its bad. Basically, you need to build around it sort of like Dream Halls and Mind Over Matter. These are almost auto-wins since most blue combo-control decks are built to protect and set up their combo. However, they can be stopped by who gets their combo out faster.
For me I've just sticked it into my Bant Enchantress Deck and went 2-2 without having it built around it (i.e. playing it fairly) to support comboing out.
As for infinite mana combos, some are very obvious to see yet impossible to stop sometimes. For example, Phyrexian Altar activations can't be responded to. Others are pretty easy to stop. However stopping one usually means the other combo player wins.
