Why assume that the Canopy cycle, if ever finished, would result in each color pair drawing a card when sacrificed? What if the cycle had different functions when sacrificed?
The issue with that is the cycle would almost assuredly have to include Horizon Canopy. If they did, GW wouldn't make sense as the "card draw" pair.
They could just throw that out and make a new cycle inspired by it, ala Death Rattle, but said cycle would likely be marquee duals, unless they were significantly created so that they're not absurd (at least for Standard.)
Is Skymarcher Aspirant better than any of my current non-top tier white 1-drops?
Nah on bodyguard.
Yeah on Woe-Reaper.
Yeah on Soldier.
Probably on Student?
Your aggro decks would likely be better served by taking out Accorder Paladin than any of the 1-drops, though. (and I personally rate Lone Missionary here, FWIW, else I'd just snap-recommend that.)
Note on this one: Cube is 450 unpowered and doesn't run any superfatties (9 mana+ creatures) except Emrakul, the Promised End although I do run several 7 and 8 drops.
Void. Void's already been doing better in 3-0 representation and overall than Abbey did in the months that I ran it.
Glotus is likely better but honestly could go either way. Golem does tend to look silly vs spot removal but is great vs non-spell removal (187 creatures/PWs, etc.)
What do you see in dakra mystic that would make you want to play it in cube?
Dakra Mystic is awesome in a U/B/x Reanimate deck, but it also plays well in a blue control deck to control what your opponents draw. I like it a lot.
That being said, I decided to switch it for Willbender now. I just wish he had a bigger body. Paying 5 mana for this effekt + a 1/2 body is a lot. The morph mindgame is on though
Yeah, I ended up cutting it because blue's dumb and super-tight but I liked it when I ran it. It usually played as "If I have a better card, I keep it. If yours is better, bin it." And as you said, it worked better with reanimation types of things, but even in generic blue decks, I was a fan.
EDIT: Also, thoughts on Sidisi, Undead Vizier vs Silent Specter in a cube (there are morphs included, but the cube is too big to have an actual "morph theme")?
TBH I'd rather still have WG Ajani but I'd also much rather have Sidisi than Silent Specter (I've actually been decently happy with Sidisi lately, but I may be biased as 5-mana in black is shallow right now.)
Why so little love for the artifact haters? They can be played proactively (compared to the 3drop equivalents), which plays better in agressive strategies (red's main theme).
I ended up falling out of them because they were going against the main strategy of the deck - in that they required sacrificing resources to deal with something. When I need all of my resources to bleed out as much damage as possible, sacrificing them to deal with something was no good.

You always draw a card off of it, unless for some reason you vote for the other option and the other person obliges.
