I've won so many games on the back of a timely Clique. Ob Nix usually warms the bench in my group. I agree that he is a sweet beater and can win games out of nowhere (especially if you build around him), but for my group I think he is the appropriate cut. He'll be replaced by fat too so I don't feel bad about losing a top of the curve finisher.
I think I'm going to go with AP for the time being. I absolutely hate giving my opponent choices.
As I've been examining my black section I think I can make another fat cut.
Which of these should be eliminated:
Ob Nixilis
Shriekmaw
Puppeteer Clique
Bloodgift Demon
I'm inclined to cut Ob Nix for AP and keep Disciple of Bolas in as he interacts so well with AP.
Also, I mentioned this a while ago and didn't get much support but it appears if opinions might be changing:
Fleshbag Marauder v. Lilliana's Specter
I noticed that wfwtlf is running Fleshbag and not Specter, and I think I'm going to emulate this move. Fleshbag is an edict on a stick and has so many interactions, and is easy to cast, while Specter is a difficult to cast overcosted beater. Maybe I'm being too harsh on Specter, but I think I prefer Fleshbag.
But wouldn't it play significantly worse against aggro/midrange due to the the fact that they have more creatures and Desecration Demon doesn't have trample? In my cube most decks tend to be aggro/midrange and tokens is a thing, so I feel like Desecration Demon would usually end up being a dead card. Have you playtested it?
Edit: eidolon, Just looked at your list, and saw you play it. Have you played Abyssal Persecutor before? If you have I'm assuming Desecration Demon has played better for you?
Another question: I just acquired a Mana Drain (YESSSSS) and I'm looking to cut some fat in blue. Which of these should be axed for the most broken counterspell ever?
Time Spiral
Keiga, the Tide Star
Sphinx of Jwaar Isle
?
I'm also running Upheaval and Consecrated Sphynx but I don't think those are even close to getting cut.
I see him as a sometimes (30% of the time?) evasive regenerator.
While shifter can't regenerate he can beet for 4, block a titan, and still has evasion. The green mana he requires isn't a huge deal either. How is he less valuable than River Boa?
I had Skinshifter as a placeholder for Goyf. I finally got my hands on a Tarmogoyf but shifter has really played well... I need to make a cut to slide Tarmogoyf in.
Get a gold bordered master series one and sharpie the edges. If you are careful it can be done very well. I have masters series Wasteland, Force of Will, and Grim Monolith and people rarely recognize the signature, and when they do are surprised by how real they look. Saved almost a hundred bucks going that rout.

I could always cut Wolfir Avenger too.
