I also can't just make the switch between control and Jund quickly any more even though I've played Jeskai flash and control builds longer than any other Modern deck. I think you need to give it some time if you're interested in becoming a competitive control player. UW miracles seems like one of the strongest decks to me. I just know I can't take it to any event that lasts longer than 4 rounds because I will personally lose my mind.
I probably didn't need the basic Mountain in retrospect. What I noticed in the run up to the GP was that everyone seemed to be expecting a huge rise in big mana decks (specifically Tron) to combat Dredge. To beat a potential rise in Tron, people seemed to leaning heavily on aggro. I didn't really get it since I hadn't seen Tron numbers rising online or anywhere else. I did see a huge uptick in Burn and UR Phoenix decks though. I didn't see people playing the mono-red Phoenix variants but I was aware of them as well. That's why Kitchen Finks and Huntmaster seemed particularly useless. They do next to nothing impactful in other matches and aren't all that overwhelming against what I'm expecting. Collective Brutality, however, was a boss, and it was amazing throughout day 1. Day 2 the metagame shifted a bit. Even without a rise in aggro, I just don't think Kitchen Finks and Huntmaster are all that good any more. There isn't a single match up where I'm thinking, "Man, I wish I had a Finks right now." I really don't understand why Jadine is all aboard with it, and I'm glad it's kicking ass for her. That's just one train I refuse to get on until something changes.
Kitchen Finks sucks. It's relatively slow and mopey in the few matches I would be willing to bring it in. You could be on the brink by turn 3 on the draw against aggressive decks. Against slower and/or controlling decks, it's just a random 3/2 for 3-CMC. It's not exactly threatening. The same feelings extend to Huntmaster of the Fells too. I was glad I cut it completely. I added a third Collective Brutality to my sideboard in its place.
I would also consider at least 1 Grafdigger's Cage in your sideboard. There has been a resurgence of Collected Company decks as well as a high number of decks casting things from the graveyard (Dredge, Bridgevine, UR & mono-red Phoenix, Mardu Pyro and Snapcaster decks).
I'm really not sure why you're so high on Kolaghan's Command. I've rarely made good use of more than 1 per game unless I was playing against Affinity.
A huge two-thumbs-up for two Alpine Moon. I could've used them way more than the Nissa, Vital Force and Surgical Extraction that languished in my sideboard. I'm almost convinced that we shouldn't try to interact with graveyard strategies reactively. I feel a third Anger of the Gods makes more sense than ever sleeving up the first Surgical Extraction even if you're terrified of Dredge or UR (or mono-red) Phoenix.
Finally, I very much prefer the 25-land builds by a wide margin. I tested 24-land builds in the run up to GP Atlanta, and the consistency issues with openers and the initial few draws reared its ugly head again. I think I just prefer conservative consistency than slightly more explosive openers.
@chaos021 What was your record? Didnt know you were also playing at the GP.
Titanshift is indeed very rough. I believe its the worst matchup we have, even worse than Living End.
Day 1 was 6-2. Ended up 9-6.
Both of my losses on day 1 were TitanShift. Day 2 I surprisingly lost to Humans twice, G Tron (just couldn't get the aggro starts) and Bant spirit (was really tight and just came down to top decks in game 3.
No way does that get unbanned without a major power creep in the format.
They'll go with something after like SFM, which probably won't do much for midrange on a long term basis.
As fast as the format can be, I'm not so sure Punishing Fire would be that bad. The funny thing is that I actually think it would push Burn up a few points against certain archetypes.
The only card I felt that I really wanted at GP Atlanta was Unmoored Ego but in Jund colors. Everything else about my build and sideboard felt surprisingly good. There were only two matches where I felt completely hopeless from start to finish and they were both against TitanShift. That match up used to seem better to me so I'm not sure what happened. The sequences I ran into were nutty though.
@SSpeigel, I've also been having trouble with Humans lately. I don't really have my bearings lately with Jund. I'm glad Jadine is crushing with it, but I feel Jund is really weak right now.
I think that's going to depend on how good its matchup with dredge is. Dredge being good hurts the fair decks. Tron will probably have a huge comeback after the meta overcorrected itself
I'm thinking Tron with 3-4 Relic of Progenitus main deck would be a pretty good place for Tron to start and not that unreasonable. I just keep seeing so many angles where things line up poorly for my current build of Jund by the time GP Atlanta gets here.
Seems like they could seriously dilute their deck with bringing in all that hate.
4x leyline and 2x angers, along with 3x scooze seems like it could be winnable. Unless 3 surgicals and 1x spellbomb seem like enough
The few Dredge pilots I had convos with basically said that they don't necessarily bring all of it in. They guage how much they need based on the matchup. We're the ones who have to play around what they're doing anyway so I feel like we're at a disadvantage.
I thought I posted this as a response already but I guess I didn't send....
Do any of you feel like Leyline of the Void might be a trap? The dredge decks seem to be packing a ton of anti-hate (4 Assassin's Trophy and 4 Nature's Claim) in the sideboard.
I guess my only question concerning Nissa, Vital Force is this: Does she do anything in other matches? Seems like she would be decent in midrange mirrors as well, but I don't know how much help I need with that and if I'm as willing to risk 5 life there.
I also keep hearing whispers in the wind that Dredge is on a murderous come back, but I've yet to see anyone online playing it. Is this the same for everyone else?
I think in midrange mirrors the same realibility is true when it comes down to bob: it likely just immeditaly trades with a removal spell. Therefore I am also not too frightened about possible 5 dmg, as the attrition based matchups overall don't primarily shape around the life totals.
Dredge is the real deal again. Its the reason I play 2 Angers in the side now. This is also pretty handy since there is still enough other decks to hit with it. Not sure how the situation online is, but caleb schere, which plays it itself now, said something like that the situation is worse online for dredge as people are preparing for it, but not yet on paper magic. It might that due to that you haven't seen it online.
In the GBx mirrors, there is Assassin's Trophy now. It could be an easy blowout to take 5, land Nissa and then watch her get blown up.
That makes sense, but usually the trends come in reverse fashion (start online and bleed over to paper).

I have always hated Choke. I think it's not that good against UW Miracles. It's somewhat decent against Jeskai Miracles though. Even so, it doesn't kill your opponent as tjd2191 said.
That's currently what is sleeved up. I've been rotating a few cards in the configuration though. Recently I had one Collective Brutality in the main deck in place of Tireless Tracker with the idea being to keep my 25-land configuration and somehow get to 10 legit removal spells (I'm not counting Kolaghan's Command). It worked out kinda nicely, but control seems to be rampant. With that card being the weakest link, I took it out for Tireless Tracker. I still want to add another Lightning Bolt and Collective Brutality. I may dump a Scavenging Ooze and the sideboard Huntmaster for them. I'm also thinking about cutting a fetch land for another Raging Ravine.
