I think these brackets are wrong: the first four players in admirableadmiral and Moss_Elemental's brackets are the same. Beside that, with 16 players, each of us 4 judges should have 4 players to judge and not 5. It's like the first four players have been counted twice, mistakingly bringing the players count up to 20. I'm going to wait for admirableadmiral's reply to start judging.

As someone who is trained in environmental toxicology, I might have some kind of allergy of people using hazard and risk interchangably, and that might have unconsciously influenced me ;). Point being that the future is actually the most hazardous concept of all, for it contains everything that could possibly harm you ever, so naming it that is an awkward proposition if you follow this etymology.
Giving up the known for the unknown increases the probability that you will be exposed to something that can harm you as you give up the basic foundations of life (your cards that you've stared at for the past few turns) that you can rely on to predict your future. This increases the risk through ignorance, but not in fact, the hazard. The hazard has always been there, its not really a scalar concept.
Anyway, enough with the lecturing. Well done on your card, I still liked it most.
Yes, I considered risk and hazard synonyms. I'm a chemist in real life, so I perfectly understand what you say. Probably it's just that even though I'm half English (my mother is English and my father is Italian), my native language is Italian and English is only my second one. I know it well, but not as well as to think about the little nuances. Thank you for the explanation and the congratulations.
On an unrelated note, my judgments for the first round of November are done. I repeat here what I wrote in the notes at the beginning of my post: the only case I'm going to listen to a complaint is if it regards an objective error on my part, such as a wrong sum of points. For the rest, as Moss_Elemental always says, I don't want to hear any complaint.

Hazardous Future2UR
Enchantment (R) 2, Exile Hazardous Future: Take an extra turn after this one. At the beginning of your next upkeep, discard all the cards in your hand, then draw that many cards. “Who knows what the future holds in store for you? The only way to discover it is to let go of everything and just take the risk!”
Congrats to bravelion83 for winning, and thanks to everyone who participated in the October MCC.
Thanks to you Ogonomany for organizing and thanks to all the judges! This month I'm joining you as a judge and I'm quite excited for that. I didn't think I would get a round 3 and a win in my first two months of participation, it's been a surprise to me! I'm obviously very happy for that!
On a related note, now that the judgings are over, I'd like to specify something about my card: the design started with me trying to find a nonblue effect to pair with the extra turn. I thought of "wheel" effects as in Wheel of Fortune, but I didn't want you to dump your hand and then draw seven out of an empty hand at the beginning of your extra turn. To avoid that, I then chose to have you draw the same number of cards you discarded. I checked on Gatherer and found Shattered Perception, so the effect was still red. That has been my inspiration, and in fact that was meant to be the red part of the card. I didn't even know the card Tolarian Winds at all before the judges brought that up, so I was surprised when I saw that all of them thought that Tolarian Winds was the inspiration for my card. It was not.
Finally, the intended flavor I had in my mind was that you had to give up what's certain (the cards you have in your hand right now) for something unknown (what will I draw in their stead?), and giving up the known for the unknown is the risk I talk about in the flavor text and also in the name. That was the hazard and that's why I called it "Hazardous" Future. I just wanted to explain this because maybe it wasn't as clear as I thought it to be.
Anyway, thanks again to everyone and I can't wait to judge in the November MCC!

I'm hoping that there's some really obvious explanation that I'm just blanking on, so please enlighten me, friends.
What purpose do the "holder" posts serve?
They sort of keep your place in the thread, also giving you a place to put in your ideas and notes as you're working on your design (at least, that's what I usually do when I make them). Then, when you're done designing, you edit your holder post to include the actual card you designed. Don't feel forced to do that in any way, you can simply post your card when you have it and everything's fine. Hope this helps.

I'd also like to thank the organizers and the judges who put their time and effort in this. I had a lot of fun with these challenges and they were also quite hard in my opinion and I don't mean this in a bad way. I'll surely be back next month. I wish good luck to all the finalists.

Not a complaint, but in the spirit of fair game I have to point out that the sum of my opponent's (JimmyGroove) scores is 39, not 29.

I just wanted to say that I completely agree with your judgment about my card, in fact while designing it just looked like an uncommon to me too, I spent two days trying to come up with something else to add to make it feel more like a rare, but I wasn't able to come up with anything good. Everything I thought of seemed like useless complication for too little gain, and I chose to go for simplicity and elegance. Maybe this is one of those cases where giving up on one of the challenges would have produced a better design.
By the way, making it an attack trigger just like the reference card was a completely intentional choice by my part and was exactly the point of the card in my intentions.
I have to say that when I saw the judgment I didn't expect to advance, I've been quite surprised when I saw I did. Looking forward to round 3!

• The two public custom sets I've been part a part of the design team for:
"Brotherhood of Ormos" - Blog post with all info - set thread - design skeleton / card list || "Extinctia: Homo Evanuit" - Blog post with all info - set thread - card list spreadsheet
• "The Lion's Lair", my article series about MTG and custom card design in particular. Latest article here. Here is the article index. Rather outdated by now, and based on the old MCC rubric, but I'm leaving this here for anybody that might be interested anyway.
• My only public attempt at being a writer: the story of my Leonin custom planeswalker Jeff Lionheart. (I have a very big one that I'm working on right now but that's private for now, and I don't know if I will ever actually publish it, and I also have ideas for multiple future ones, including one where I'm going to reprise Jeff.)
