EDIT @void_nothing: With setting up July, I had forgotten I still was in the competition for June. Any news on that? The judging deadline has passed and only your own judgments are missing. I'm sorry for bringing this up. Only asking because I'm personally involved.

UPDATE: July will continue here as usual due to me mixing up dates. August will begin DCC, CCL, and MCC on Nexus.
Does this mean there will be a July MCC here and that a host for it is needed since July 1st is tomorrow? If so, I am totally available and willing to do it. It's not the first time I did it at the last minute. And just so everybody knows, I would also do only three rounds like Eventide Sojourner did on June when we all were convinced this site would have closed on July 8th, for the same reasons that they did it this month.

So, round is over, right? I want to make sure before I make comments.
I already had my scores from both my judges, that's why I felt safe commenting on the judgments. Also, I see all judgments are in by now, so I think you should be safe too if you want to comment.

It's a little wordy (well, a lot, actually - MSE has ten small font lines, including the reminder text)
I know. I already knew before submitting the card. I always work in MSE to design my cards. This is why I didn't put flavor text on the card. I willingly tried to use name and mechanics to convey flavor, because I knew I was already at the limit of microtext, even though ten small lines plus two breaks is still allowed in the M15 frame (see Animate Dead from EMA). I consider that the limit, both as a player and as a judge.
...and Mythic. I'd bring it down to Rare, as it doesn't have the 'grandeur' that one would expect for that rarity, nor the power level.
Just wanted to point out that I put this at mythic because of the multiple ways to cast it for free (its own ability, cascading into it, etc...). Being able to avoid the safety valve that is mana cost in Magic is a big thing.
With the wording chosen, you need at least three creatures on the board before you can cast this (no cheating with Civic Wayfinder).
I'm very glad you noticed this, because it was totally intentional. I wanted three different creatures to be needed to cast this for free. My inspiration for this wording was the Herald cycle from Alara.
but the Prowl is a better payoff as the damage is one-sided in that instance.
Also totally intentional. I wanted the prowl effect to be better to encourage you to use prowl and pay the five mana.
Earwig Squad, and I still have promo copies I couldn't pay people to take off my hands.
Now that you make me think of it, I think I have some promo copies too somewhere...
Lorwyn Elves hunting people. Ah, memories.
Does it show that Lorwyn (and specifically Lorwyn, not Shadowmoor) is probably my favorite plane in the whole history of Magic?
The inclusion of the prowl mechanic not only ties back to Lorwyn block, but it works with the card name and effect as well.
As I've said before, also intentional. I used name and mechanics as best I could to convey flavor.
My question is what makes this a Druid, as there's no mana production or land interaction.
Nothing mechanically. I wanted to use two classes to make the free casting harder, and I went on Gatherer to check which two classes were the most common for Elves. Druid and Warrior is the answer, with Shaman being the third. This card was originally an Elf Shaman Warrior, but I changed it to Druid when I saw that Druid was more common than Shaman.
There is a comma missing from the reminder text after 'Druid'.
True. Went missing in the copy and paste of the reminder text for prowl. Still surprised that my detail-oriented eyes haven't caught this.
"When Elvish Predation Pack enters the battlefield, it fights up to one target creature you don’t control." There needs to be a 'may' or 'up to one' clause in case there are no legal targets when it enters...

Sorry for the little off-topic, but isn't it called it that in English grammar? In all kinds of school here in Italy we study it under that name ("genitivo sassone" in Italian). In fact...
"Whenever you pay Lurking Darkness' cumulative upkeep, it deals..."[/spoiler]
That said, I just want to mention that the way I made darkness possessive is correct as far as I know. Of course, the way you have it also considered correct. The only time adding an s to the end of a word to make it possessive is incorrect is when it is a plural noun that ends in s...
I'm only half British, and English is my second language anyway, but that's exactly the rule that here in Italy is taught with the name of Saxon genitive. In the specific case, darkness is a singular noun, so it takes the 's anyway, and the possessive is darkness's. If you write darkness' with the apostrophe but without the s, every English teacher here in Italy would mark that as a mistake, included those for which English is their first language. Might this be one of the differences between the English language as spoken in England and in the US? I honestly don't know, the rule has always been like that for me since I started studying English as a little child in the early 90's.

EDIT: Disregard this. I had an idea, but I've chosen to go with a different one and I don't need these questions answered anymore. Feel free to answer them anyway if you think they might be useful to somebody else, but I don't need these anymore. Original post after the line. More questions for round 2.
Suppose I want to use emerge and I make a card with the exact same text as Abundant Maw but with no mana cost. Having no mana cost gives no other means to cast the card than emerge.
1. Does the cast ability count for subchallenge 1, as the only way you can cast the card and trigger that ability is via emerge? I think the answer is no, but I thought to ask just to be sure rather than making assumptions.
2. What if I substitute the cast ability with a different ability that cares about the sacrificed creature? For example if the Maw drained X life, where X is the sacrificed creature's cmc, power, or toughness.
3. Or would it just have to be literally "When CARDNAME's emerge cost is paid" or "if you paid CARDNAME's emerge cost"?

(2.5/3) Flavor: "Knowledge and Wisdom" works great as a Split card name. I would have inverted them here. Wisdom for the Surviel (as you may want to toss some of the stack in the yard), and Knowledge for the reveal (everyone will know).
I have no problems with Eventide Sojourner's excellent judging of my card, and I can definitely see their reasoning here, but I just wanted to mention why the names are the way they are, telling the story of my card in the meantime. I know there are people who like to hear about the thought process behind a submission. In spoiler because it's quite long.
It was very hard to come up with a card idea for this round, I found the round challenge to be very difficult this time to execute on if you wanted to hit all the three challenges (main + sub), which is not a bad thing, hitting all challenges is supposed to be hard and I know it very well as an MCC veteran, having been here for years covering all roles (player, judge, and host, and I have no intention to stop my streak on the new site). Anyway, given this difficulty, I've started looking for inspiration everywhere I could. I obviously wanted the two halves to have high synergy, so I started from the mechanics. This card was built bottom-up.
I started writing synergistic text in the two halves but the word "creature" kept coming up. I've written several attempts before realizing I had to focus on the library to avoid mentioning creatures, and I thought of Riddle of Lightning. Was there a way to do something similar, involving the top card of your library? I've always like that card, and I remember having played with it a lot in Future Sight. It looked like an excellent inspiration for splitting up the effect into the two parts of a split card (you can choose whether the pun was intended or not): have the first half scry and the second reveal the top card and do something with it.
Then I thought about colors: the scrying half wanted to be blue, and I had to find colors and effect for the second half. I thought about reverting the Riddle: instead of dealing damage, what if the second half gained you life? Then it could easily be green/white, and I had already chosen to use hybrid mana, because having two gold halves sharing no colors looks prohibitive to me if you actually want the card to be played with fuse. Doing so with both gold halves sharing no color would require you to play a four-color deck at least, which is almost impossible in limited, and only a little easier in constructed but still hard. Hybrid mana greatly improves the playability of such a card and the number of decks that can play it.
Lifegain looked very good as a green/white hybrid option. What about the first half? With scry, it just felt monoblue to me. I needed to find a second color, which could only be red or black. That's when I thought that if this card is supposed to come from Ravnica (the only place so far having fuse split cards), I could just use surveil instead of scry, which would have allowed me to make it Dimir hybrid and meet all challenges, so I did it.
Then I asked myself: what about Uniqueness? It's by far my weakest point, and I'm aware of it. I always tend to play inside the box, in real life too. It's just part of my character. This card already used hybrid mana in both halves, which it's never been done in real Magic, but it didn't feel enough to me, and the GRN/RNA split cards were already playing in similar territory. In an attempt to improve Uniqueness with effects that admittedly were not that original, I thought of making it surveil X. I checked Gatherer and it didn't exist yet. Good. Making it surveil X wouldn't alter the synergy between the two halves, so I did this as well.
I finally had a plausible card to submit. But notice that I haven't talked about flavor yet. In fact, I went on the internet to look for expressions of the "this and that" kind, trying to find one who could work with the mechanics I had. That's when I stumbled on "knowledge and wisdom". It catched my attention because of the color pie: knowledge is blue as a concept (as in what you learn by studying) and wisdom is green (as in what you learn from life experience). Maro talks a lot about how the concept of wisdom is green, and I'm an avid Blogatog reader (sometimes I also post a few comments there, if you see a bravelion83 in the comment section of Blogatog it's me), so I definitely know that. So the name "knowledge" wanted to go with the blue half and the name "wisdom" with the green one. It totally worked in my eyes: you research knowledge by surveiling X, and wisdom is linked to life experience which works perfectly with the lifegain part. Now my card was complete and I could submit it.
So, for the record, that's why I've chosen to put the names like that and not reversed. I've never actually thought about inverting the names before reading the quoted comment. Honestly, I still think they work better as I've put them, but that's not intended as a complaint about the judgment in any way. The judgment is perfect and I thank Eventide Sojouner for taking the time to think about and judge my card. I know from experience (this is wisdom) that being an MCC judge is too often a thankless job, so I want to thank the judge when my card is the one being judged. I didn't expect to write the whole history of my card to explain why the names are as they are, but here we are. I just did that anyway, and I know there are people who like reading about things like this. If you're one of them and you've made it to the end, my thanks and a shoutout to you too!

RaikouRider, bravelion83: This is speculation on my part, but looking at cards and rules, I think Laboratory Maniac and new Jace wording don't correspond to what should be used on your cards, and it should be "attempting to draw" as in 704.5b. Notice that on Maniac the actual draw never happens, as there's replacement effect, so you never draw or even attempt to draw nonexisting card.
I agree, and I had already noticed while designing the card. I checked the CR back then, so I had known that 704.5b uses the words "attempt to draw a card". In fact, as you might have noticed, the first version of my card used the word "attempting" too in the activated ability (the static one is still a replacement effect by the way). Then I went to recheck Laboratory Maniac and I saw that its effect is actually worded slightly differently than the CR, without using the word "attempt", so I edited the card to make the wording as close to the Maniac as possible. That's to say that I was completely aware of this point beforehand and I willing chose to use the wording without "attempt". Maybe it wasn't the right choice, but it was a totally intentional one. I also found problems in wording because the activated ability is completely new and there is no real precedent for it yet in real Magic, so I had to take my best guess for the wording. As Uniqueness is by far my weakest point, both as a judge and as a designer, for once I tried to make the most original card I could, and doing that often involves using abilities and wordings that don't exist yet, so again, you just have to take your best guess. That's what happened with my own card.

Subchallenge 1 - Your card's color identity is not white.
Does this mean that the color identity can't be monowhite but can still contain white, or that it can't contain white at all? In other words, would a card with a Boros, Jeskai, or even five-colored color identity pass this subchallenge?
Then a couple of typos/editorial mistakes or whatever you want to call them. Things my innately-detail-focused eyes have immediately noticed but that have no real importance:
- The intro must be wrong. It's the same than last round, the one about Titans.
- Two times in the main challenge text, you're writing "loosing the game" with two "o"'s. That's supposed to be "losing the game" with a single "o". The verbs to lose and to loose have different meanings.

Tomorrow is April 1st, is there anyone hosting April? Maybe I've missed it. I would prefer somebody else hosting as I've already hosted February just last month, and I also have no ideas for challenges at this moment, but if it comes to that, rather than having no contest I'll come up with something.

Thanks. First round and judge thread are up.
EDIT @void_nothing: With setting up July, I had forgotten I still was in the competition for June. Any news on that? The judging deadline has passed and only your own judgments are missing. I'm sorry for bringing this up. Only asking because I'm personally involved.

Just wanted to point out that I put this at mythic because of the multiple ways to cast it for free (its own ability, cascading into it, etc...). Being able to avoid the safety valve that is mana cost in Magic is a big thing.
I'm very glad you noticed this, because it was totally intentional. I wanted three different creatures to be needed to cast this for free. My inspiration for this wording was the Herald cycle from Alara.
Also totally intentional. I wanted the prowl effect to be better to encourage you to use prowl and pay the five mana.
Now that you make me think of it, I think I have some promo copies too somewhere...
Does it show that Lorwyn (and specifically Lorwyn, not Shadowmoor) is probably my favorite plane in the whole history of Magic?
As I've said before, also intentional. I used name and mechanics as best I could to convey flavor.
True. Went missing in the copy and paste of the reminder text for prowl. Still surprised that my detail-oriented eyes haven't caught this.
HOW DID I NOT NOTICE THIS???

Sorry for the little off-topic, but isn't it called it that in English grammar? In all kinds of school here in Italy we study it under that name ("genitivo sassone" in Italian). In fact...

(I have a very big one that I'm working on right now but that's private for now, and I don't know if I will ever actually publish it, and I also have ideas for multiple future ones, including one where I'm going to reprise Jeff.)

Just a typo in the round thread OP: this should say May in the title.

First, the most important and the only one I actually need a response to:
