I can't beat this deck for the life of me (affinity player). I would like to change that, but I need to know what hurts you guys most. I've heard Thrun and SoWaP are solid answers against you guys; however, as an affinity player both cards are hard to land due to a lack of colored land and stoney silence.
Help me beat you. lol
Thanks :]
I don't play this deck, but Blood Moon seems like it would be decent against it.
Totem Armor is the scary aspect of Bogles. There's not a really fantastic way of dealing with it beyond countering where you can and sweeping/wiping where you can before they land. The Celestial Flare can really take them down, but it's not super useful in most matches beyond that one. A lot of people just chalk it up as a loss since it's not a massively popular deck.
I personally think if you can sweep every chance you can and if you run wipes (like Supreme Verdict) and counter anything with Totem Armor, that's probably your best bet.

I think our most versatile way to deal with Bogles is probably Runed Halo. It can also have applications against other decks/cards. It kind of deals with Thrun the Last Troll for example.
If there is a lot of Bogles in your meta, you can also consider at a more dedicated hate card like Tempest of Light. It can clearly blow out Bogles, but it's utility against other decks is more narrow.
Thanks guys. Yeah it was just a thought. I have a Gideon Jura sitting around gathering dust...as well as some Stormbreath Dragons. Stormbreath is one I am strongly considering because his pro-white just seems so relevant...
If I transition this to more Control-ish than I am going to run two Gideon's I think
Stormbreath Dragon is another good option. I'd also advise trying out Elspeth, Knight-Errant and Hero of Bladehold. Hero of Bladehold is just an amazing finisher at only 4 mana, while Elspeth is great for getting damage through.
Went 3-1 at FNM tonight. Mostly played home brews. I lost to a RDW with a splash of white. First game was very close. Second game I tapped out like a moron to activate Colonnade, killing his Goblin Guide, and he then resolved an Assemble the Legion. Yeah I had no answer for that pre-board and couldn't race it.
Geist and Blade Splicer in a 3/3 split went great. I don't know who was better...Geist on turn 3 could not be answered but Blade Splicer's synergy with Resto was great. I realized that Assemble the Legion could actually be good for the top end of my curve so I am going to try one in there. Electrolyze is going purely Sideboard for now. I played a couple games with the guy who won tonight after FNM was over. He was running Infect and I beat him 2-1. Electrolyze just neutered his deck, but was not good enough tonight to warrant MB.
If we had more Affinity or whatnot then maybe.
Assemble the Legion isn't worth it. As much as I love the card, Elspeth Knight-Errant, Hero of Bladehold, Brimaz, and several other cards are better token makers. As for 5 mana finishers, Gideon Jura is better.
I've been posting some really good results with this list (far better than with your standard Mid-Range list). Also in the mirror (mir-range or even control) I tend to just decimate them. I had Elspeth maindeck, but after a few situations where the opp was @ 5 or less life and drawing it over a Thundermaw... I went with a second Thundermaw.
May I suggest that this be posted in the WUR Delver thread instead (as the main thing that distinguishes WUR Midrange from WUR Delver is the higher land count, higher manacost spells, and it not playing Delver).
So I'll do a little tournament report from a gigantic Modern FNM from last night, 45 people!
I love this deck to death just for how dynamic it can play and take so many different roles, but for what Tarns are going for now I'm leaning towards dumping them for a big chunk of change, finishing off merfolk and coming back the UWr way when fetches are reprinted.
Fetches reprint? Did I miss something?
It is going to happen eventually (and hopefully soon).
Why would you waste an entire sideboard slot just for mill?
If in your meta mill is so popular and u dont play Gp or events with more 100+ players u can use a single Emrakul... idk why no....
First, if you need something against mill use Kozilek instead. It costs less money and it costs less mana in case if you can ever actually cast it. Second, is mill really popular enough to devote an entire sideboard slot just to mill?
I have not faced a Thrun personally either, but i do agree with buttnakedwonder. I expect to see a lot of the green decks at Richmond running 1-2 somewhere in the 75, if only because a UWr deck won. Hell, Tarmo-Twin could run it in the side for us (and the control version, as well as other control decks and spot removal heavy deck) if they really wanted to.
Tarmo-Twin would also be countering your Wrath of God when you could have just played Supreme Verdict instead.
Dont hope too much for price drops on remand, the duel decks wont be 20 dollars anyways, if anything, that will keep the price from getting any higher. Just like with MM, price tags wont change too much.
Yeah, they will be $20. They are sold at MSRP at many large stores (Target, Walmart, Barnes & Noble, Toys R Us).
I honestly think we could not be more thrilled at this pro tour. A similar WUR deck wins, our deck does really well, and fae was barely present. Plus the meta looks amazing now, almost legacy like with how much variance there was in having control, combo, aggro, and midrange all well positioned to win. There seemed to be very few total blowouts.
We just need a good plan of how to deal with Blue Moon post board.
Fae is going to come back now that combo and control are the top decks.
Top 3 decks at the pro-tour: Blue Moon, Living End, Amulet
Answers: Elesh Norn (Blue moon), Iona (Amulet, Living End)
I'm really liking the gifts sideboard...
Both of the decks you listed answers to will put you off your A-game before you get to the point where those critters would be in play. Just putting that out there.
Actually, if you are on the play, casting gifts for Iona and Elesh Norn forces Living End to cascade early before it has built up a critical mass of cyclers. It also stops them from cascading a second time because you would have the advantage.
What about Brimaz, king of oreskos in the new meta. Tested him and hes good but not great and have tried 2-2 splits with him and geists but I haven't seen any dailies with him. Has anyone else shifted over to him or tried him?
I support this. Surviving red sweepers and bolt is important now and he is much stronger against Zoo and Faeries.
I don't play this deck, but Blood Moon seems like it would be decent against it.
Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
Engineered Explosives is decent against them too.

It might be in the top 16. They haven't released it yet.
