If you want to add a non-parasitic mechanic, try rebels! Just add 2-4 rebel searchers and add the "Rebel" creature type to some of the white weenies and your done! If you want to get ideas how to do it, even though it's really simple, check out my cube!
Recently,I've read an article by knuckles29, saying that the ideal mix of aggro-control-midrange-tempo for him was is 25-25-25-25. Since it's a little different for everyone, I wanted to know how you guys have it. I personally like to have it around 40-25-20-20.
Here's the article: http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=393972
I have run the Peddler ever since AVR came out, and have found myself on the wrong side of the table when he is in play. He just completely shuts down midrange decks that rely on big stompy guys to win. The worst part is that unless you have some targeted spot removal in your hand, he just doesn't die -- his partners end up doing all the dirty work and making the lethal chump blocks while your opponent keeps introducing new partners for him. He's like the Basilisk Collar of pauper. And he combos so deliciously with so many different types of cards found in many peoples' cubes:
If you want to throw G/X control another bone, Nightshade Peddler is that bone. He's not even that bad for aggro decks facing down the midrange matchup since he lets a little guy swing and threaten to trade with any fatty that blocks him.
The problem with him is that he just dies to removal(I know, I said it), because of his small toughness
What cards are you referring to? I already run sparksmith, longbow, and heavy ballista (if you're including that). Am I forgetting something?
Yes, I mean cards that ping for more than one. The only other one that is really good that I can think of is Spikeshot Goblin. Then there´s also Cinder Pyromancer but he´s the worst of the bunch (Still pretty good).
Word. If you put them in RB and RG, then they are easily in the top 2 cards of that combination. The fact that they have other abilities is just gravy. Pingers are so good in this format, and these guys can kill any other pinger before it gets active.
If you're putting them in shard colours, I think that there is no competition for the Grixis Shard, it is Shadow Guildmage and there really isn't any competition. Sewn Eye Drake is a pretty decent card, but not nearly as good IMO.
The naya shard is harder, because obviously Wild Nacatl is insane. That's why classifying the guildmages is such a problem - Granger Guildmage is better than at least half of the other cards in cube, but it's probably not better than Wild Nacatl so it doesn't really fit in the naya shard.
Additionally, while Thornscape Apprentice is really cool, it's third on the list of naya cards so really has no chance to get in. The guildmage is considerably better.
Really? Would you rather have a 1 mana Kris Mage (Which they are) than something like Bonesplitter, or Blastoderm. I think they´d like Firewild Borderpost more than this. One drops just aren´t that relevant. Agree with above, pingers are very overrated.
Why is there a gotta in there? The guildmages are straight up insane. My suggestion is to run both, though granger is a bit better.
The hardest thing is classifying them into a colour pair, etc. That's the reason that they're not in every cube.
They´re..... insane? Multicolorcards are supposed to be very powerful, because only a color combination can run them, these just seem like sligtly better kris mages and I want a little more from my multicolor slots.
Bant: Bant Sojuner
Esper: Windwright Mage
Jund: Jund Sojuners
Grixis Kederekt Creeper
Naya Wild Nacatl
I guess, but Thrill is also incredible, one of the best combat tricks, many a times has it killed 2 creatures, or just one and blanked a removal spell, but I guess Armadilo Cloak is really great too.
A friend of mine really likes heavy tribal, so I started thinking about one for the cube. The only one I found with enough support were slivers. Does anyone think they could be an OK tribe here?
Just so that it is easier to decide, here are all the slivers that aren´t terrible.
Another card I've not seen discussed much is Vigean Hydropon. I know it's usually regarded as tech for constructed graft decks but it looks like it could become the U/G counterpart to Travel Preparations in a creature-heavy Pauper Cube. While it could easily become a dead draw late in the game, I think it could be a total house in a midrange deck if it's played early enough. Imagine curving into Primal Huntbeast, or Mist Raven... or a convoked Sprout Swarm. The possibilities are tantalizing enough that I'm going to try it out over Coiling Oracle, which has been very underwhelming for me.
The problem I've always had with Hydropon is that 90% of the time it'll just be a worse anthem that UG doesnt really need.
Depends on the amount of artifacts you´re running. If it´s just a couple equipment, spellbombs and Serrated Arows there isnt too much to destroy most of the time

While they do, I think it is better if you have mutiple pingers stapled together on a single card instead of having them on multiple ones.
