looting/grim flayer and leyline are great. but without looting/flayer u risk losing some percentage when topdecking. its better to go nihil spellbomb.
but right now im in the looting camp. I find you can keep 1 land hands and this come to play when you get hands with leyline and 1 land. you can get out of it quickly.
Thank you. Slowly contemplating playing again.
Kalitas seems a little slow, no? He feels like one of those cards that should either be in the main deck or not in at all.
With how huge aggro had become why not 1 or 2 grim lavamancers in the deck?
It could be used primarily for the fair decks in the side.
Is nissa worth a spot in the side? I feel like junds midrange control bomb side cards always just feel ok. Angrath looks too weak on paper.
I imagine with how the meta looks I'd make something like
[Sideboard]
4x leyline of the void
2x anger of the gods
2x collective brutality
2x kitchen finks
2x fulminator mage
1x nissa, vital force
2x ancient grudge
[/sideboard]
I am personally not the biggest fan of leyline overall in Jund, but it does pull its weight when you play it in the right matchups. However, I like Surgical and Spellbomb as they work in singletons and they are live draws when you don't have them in the opener. Leyline is more a all in or bust kinda thing which I am not a fan of. However, the upside it of course higher. Also, I like spellbomb as its never a bad topdeck (the perfect GY hate for Jund) and surgical for its flexible applications where Leylines cant help (tron)
That being said, I am on spellbombs and surgicals right now.
With dredge and other graveyard decks being at such a high now isnt 4x leylines appropriate now? Trophy makes it so that you can probably cut to 2x fulminators. 2x anger of the gods also seem like a good idea between all these aggro decks and dredge.
I've been on a hiatus but just my observation of where the meta is going.
I think you guys are stressing about Tron too much, big mana is general is in a very bad spot right now with how linear the meta is with combo and aggro.
Guys, there is a new Jund video available by Reid Duke in which he lowered his curve and tried some new things. It is not listed on Youtube (don't ask me why) but here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSE9oA2utso
This will be good to check out while doing cardio.
I'm interested to see if a new version of Jund needs to be tinkered with
Whats up with us only playing 1x terminate though, shouldn't we just cut the 2nd pulse and play the 2nd terminate, too?
I'm worried about Grim Flayer making graveyard hate even better against us. I don't know.
I feel hesitant spending 40 dollars on manamorphose, I'm not even sure how legit it is.
It does look like Jund is back to where it was, which is disappointing. I do think it's tier 2 now though, as opposed to being garbage tier before the ban.
I'm not familiar enough with Mardu, but I think Shadow certainly looks well positioned again
The cards that BBE can flip is certainly better than years ago, but Shaman providing turn 2 LOTV's and turn 3 BBE's was also more oppressive. BBE is so good against fair decks, but I was not happy to see it against burn or humans.
I do think Hollow One is bad for this format. I actually wrote about how unhealthy I thought this deck was a while ago in the modern ban thread, I noted that it's way more consistent than people realized and wasn't "spinning the wheel".
Kalitas is looking fantastic. I wonder if Jund should go back to just playing 2x 4 mana creatures again, or if it should play 2x BBE, 1x Kalitas, 1x Grim lamvamancer. I don't even know anymore.
I'd like to know why. I basically owned most of Mardu, just had to purchase the Revlers and 2x Pyromancers.
I started tinkering with Hollow One before I stopped posting for a bit, it was giving me more free wins than Jund, and so many broken openers.
Did the meta adjust too much or is BBE just too clunky in this deck?
And yeah, school got really overwhelming, I've been in the library every weekend lately. Just a 7 page paper and 2 presentations left before graduating
Then i have a 2 year grind of practice and supervision to get my clinical license for therapy before making money above the poverty line
I've been super busy with the end of my master's program so I haven't watched or played much MTG
Have a lot of the jund players decided Jund is just not---good? Dylan Donegan said that Mardu has basically become the new Jund midrange deck of choice.
I had expressed that I was going 2-2 a lot with Jund at my FNM, it felt like there was raw power but I was underperforming, and felt like the meta was against me.
Thank you. Slowly contemplating playing again.

Also, does pulse feel as necessary nowadays?

It has enough utility against the flavor of the month, dredge. And it's not bad against Mardu, kci, maybe hollow one and some other fringe decks.
Depending on how poorly tron is against the new dredge I think I see tron ticking down a little.
I was skimming the pages. Was anyone playing with frenzy on the sideboard? I imagine it wont cut it but am curious
4x trophys seem too much in the main deck...any warrant use for the 4th in the side?

Don't like the sideboard
With hollow one around I think 3x ooze seems right
