So even harder to acquire...I have been using the filter lands for a while. They are always relevant and the ability to turn a black or blue into two red is underrated. If you can pick them up they are worth it next to shocks and hack lands as the best budget option. Unless you play online we all cant have duals now can we.
Waaaay better than the Magus if the Wheel. 'If' this uncommon is true it will definitely be a shoe-in my deck. Great P/T, gets your life down where you want it if needed and card draw. Thats awesome card draw on wizardly legs. Clutch card.
Hello again all, wanted to brainstorm some ideas for Marchesa, see if anyone has had the same thoughts.
1) Living Lore 4cmc, * p/t for tutor abilities. Seems amazing (infinite turns) with haste and time magic that doesn't exile itself. Not too many spells I run so a bit tricky to get something decent resused. But to be able to reuse a tutor, living death ect. Has anyone used this guy in anything? Seems like it could be nice to recur via Marchesa.
2) Phyrexian Obliterator Pricy modern staple that has only been printed once in Mythic Rare. 4 cmc, amazing ability, would be a house to recur or Sneak Attack in. Hard to cast. In my deck it seems loaded with lands that can produce both Black and Red. Seems feasible, not more of a stretch than Necropotence
Hto be honest, pick something else to cut. Dacks is super flexible, HASTE and dethrone. Disciple is one of the best card draw/life gain engines in the deck. Im sure there is worse things to pull for Drana.
If you like Hell's Caretaker try Doomed Necromancer or better Apprentice Necromancer. Does the same job faster and cheaper. Also Necromancy can abuse an etb instantly and if you can get a counter on it any creature in the grave is fair game. Its a bit off for what the deck goes for but can stun and steal some games people think they have answered.
Anyone have any alternate sac outlets? Seems my deck gets hated on pretty quick and im always in the need of a sac outlet. Currently using ashnods, goblin bombardment, carrion feeder, falkenrath aristocrat, dimir house guard, disciple if bolas and grimgrin. Sadly added in a Fallen Angel to help out To get the engines going/ protecting my threats. Deck is a little different in using wildfire, keldon firebombers and thoughts of ruin
Magus of the Abyss > the Abyss itself and would be way friendlier on the budget if you didn't get one back in '95
Marchesa is a creature loving commander, who likes to play wizards thanks to Sage of Fables, also likes 4 cmc Thanks to Fleshwrither & Dimir House Guard and would love to Sneak Attack with it if they could. All these synergies point to above statement, which normally isn't true in most decks.
Also been playing with Domineering Will, did exactly as planned. Huge blowout.
Thoughts on the new Domineering Will?
With so many sac outlets, a commander that loves to steal/sac/recur creatures this seems like a great fit.
Card breaks in half with a haste enabler.
I swapped out Thalakos Deceiver for this and seems busted enough for my mean Marchesa
Some really great ideas in this thread, I built a Marchesa Commander deck as soon as she was spoiled, wished her art was different but hey, I still like smashing face.
Just wanted to know if any of you have had great success with either Greater Gargadon or Chasm Skulker.
Gargadon seem like a great sac outlet for cheap and a beefy critter afterwards. The squid seems rediculous with all the card draw via Grim Horuspex/Diciple of Bolas/Mulldrifter/River Kelpie.
Some thigns i run that I am not sure if they have been mentioned: Thalakos Deceiver Second copy of a Sower to keep smashing face Thada Adel, Acquisitor Free Sol Rings Agent of Erebos : recurrable GY hate, in my meta its always nice to tutor up against Mimeoplasm/Karador Annul Great against Gods/annoying enchantments, crawlspace ect. Kiora's Dismissal: Propaganda style effects wreck me in a multiplayer game, most people hide behind confident Grixis cant do anything about it. Then they die.
