Anyone tried Elder Deep-Fiend in this build? Could be a great surprise finisher EOT off a Skyspawner or Displacer maybe, and allows us the mana to cast Smasher and then swing with both on our next turn while having already tapped down troublesome lands or blockers... too cute, maybe? Also not sure about the limitations of the UU casting cost. Looking more for experience here more than theory crafting, though I'd definitely listen to either or both. Thanks!
I play 3x Drowner + 1x Elder. Surprises them w an opp upkeep tap all opp lands. Emerge it on a Reshaper and you'll hit value town!
Is there any value in running a one-off Wastes as the third Basic, or would the second Forest be better? I'm mostly worried about seeing a lot of Blood Moon at the GP this weekend.
i tun 23 lands w 1 wastes and 1 talisman of progress. no problems against blood moon so far
I've been testing out 1 Lightning greaves in the MB in the place of a spellskite. It obviously doesn't protect against removal as well as greaves, as you can always remove in response to an equip. However, hands with it tend to be about half a turn faster on the goldfish kill. Turn 4 kill is also much more likely. Plus you can sandbag it in your hand, and itll still have value on the turn you play it (e.g. a hasted skyspawner or reshaper on turn 4). A successful equip will also be great against any fair deck, as it almost forces them to have a cryptic, decay, or kolaghan's to answer it effectively.
I agree we need help with combo. Even with 4 SB cards, my most recent match record against valakut is 1-4. I'm wondering if some other sort of mainboard disruption is worth considering... I really wish our mana base could afford casting Clique.
I tested Gemstone briefly and while it does enable some crazy hands, I don't think it's worth the very real deckbuilding cost of a colorless source.
I've been using Repel the abominable in my BW Humans against Valakut. Might sound janky but it always surprises them. We can put it in the sb, not many tier 1 decks with humans anyway.
The card would be gd against affinity, dredge, merfolk n etc. Then hopefully we can get them on the backswing
How many Spellskites (if any) are people running these days? I've seen some lists with zero, and I'm curious whether that is out the the mainstream or whether it's something to consider.
Bridge is so much worse. It doesn't count the cards in your hand, just the op hand. You basically cannot close the game until you land EE for 3. It could be too late by then.
This is true, but I'd still say Blood Moon is worse. EE isn't insanely hard to get off stirrings or just drawing it. At least with Bridge we can still cast our guys; tap down theirs with Displacer (with benefit of Temple), Drowner; blink a skyspwaner and get in with an increasing army of tokens, etc. And EE is sometimes easier to cast on 3 when there's no Blood Moon (though we do benefit from the Mountain when trying to cast EE on 3).
I guess my question would be, how many cards does the Burn player usually have in hand?
I can see merits to both. But a key difference is that Blood Moon hurts us when it comes down early; a Bridge hurts us more when it comes down late (since their hand will be almost depleted). This matchup tends not to go too many turns, so a Blood Moon seems more relevant to me.
Not only keep tapping their creatures, we can deck them out with a TKS. Depending on the mana available, you can do 1-3 cards a turn.
Then if they're stuck with lands in their hands, you can just attack w scions or skyspawners/hierarchs
Sam: I can get behind playing 2nd and 3rd EE. Don't you think maybe playing 1 Talisman of Progress instead of 3rd EE?. -I guess u could, since EE is usually on 1 for Burn/Infect.
Also, how much playing 2 Reshapers affect my Burn and BGx matchups?. - Reshaper is good for the replacement effect it gives. Skyspawner helps against flyers and gives us a 2 for 1 with the scion. I personally play a 3/2 split favouring Reshaper.
Guys! I have a big tourney in the next weeks. I'm tuning my list to beat: Affinity,Burn and BG/X from the MB. - Remove 1-2 Matter Reshaper and add in the 2nd/3rd EE.
Then the SB aimed at: RG Valakut,Ad Nauseam and Dredge. The other cards like Explosives and Alliance are catch-alls that i don't really want to take out, especially EE. -Add in a worship but there's really nothing much we can do about ad nauseam/valakut. Dredge is 50/50. RIP will solve a lot of probs for you.
Thing is, I'm not bringing in Training Grounds for hard-but-winnable match ups. I'd rather have Stony Silence vs lantern, and I find the 3 EEs deal with white prison decks fairly well. Both those things will do more for your other match ups than a Training Grounds would.
EDIT: Also, decks like lantern will most probably prevent you from setting up that many combo pieces at any point in time unless you get very VERY lucky.
when i encountered mono white prisons, my 2 EEs were able to take care of their 2-3cmc stuff but anything with a higher cmc was outta reach, especially when they have shroud. but anyway, point taken. just trying to see if we can improve the dl.
did mill an 8 rack opp to death b4 using tks+displacer but this is one level up. infinite mana to infinite mill.
I'm pretty sure the deck's plan A is to face rush with fatties to kill (or at least beat down to almost death) before any setting up happens on either side of the field. Also, I'm pretty sure your opponent will be dead or close to it with all those "combo pieces" you mentioned on the board, online unless you intentionally not attack.
Not intentionally not attack but i notice an uptick on control decks w bridges and white prison around. And since we do have bad matchups against lantern, mono white prisons and even the odd mirror, this could be an out in g2.
I'm fairly new to Bant Eldrazi, and I have a quick question. Why no Basic Island? Considering access to blue mana seems like one of our few outs to a Blood Moon, I would think it important to make room for a single Island.
i play a single waste plus 5 mana dorks. Helpful when playing against B Moon.
Non fetchable but we can get them out if we path our creatures or if they path our creatures.
At times i do remove LtS for a 2nd EE before the start of any event. If i feel there'll be more aggro decks around.
I do think that the flexi-spot has yet to be fully optimised. But the main reason y i play LtS is due to the high probability of getting flooded w lands.

What do u guys think?

1x mb and 1x sb for me.

I prefer the Instant speed surprise rather than having it on board.
Or just play both.

SE sounds nice too for the sb.
