Fool: Flavourful 'void'
Magician: Interesting effect
Priestess: Seems a little self-synergistic
Empress: What a bomb
Emperor: Feels really clunky - maybe just Fiend Hunterify it?
Hierophant: Bomby
Lovers: Looks annoying
Chariot: Annihilator AND haste?
Strength: I like "incidental" lifegain
Hermit: Feels too much like Fool
Fortune: Was hoping for a Wheel of Fortune style card; this is also good
Justice: I dunno, looks good
Hanged: Body seems too small for such a miniscule effect
Hierophant: I don't actually get this one but it looks kinda crazy (inb4 elfstorm)
Devil: Too inefficient a body for such a suicidal downside
Tower: The flavour is real
Star: Like Abyssal Persecutor but not efficient
Moon: Interesting Meddling Mage variant - looks too tricky for me
Sun: MORE LIFE???
Aeon: Dies to removal, but does have cool synergy with fight.
Overall: 17/20; really nice flavour on all of them and most are pretty good designs
JusticeWR
Legendary Creature - Avatar (R)

You may cast spells that target creatures with justice counters on them without paying their mana costs and as though they had flash. To find the one true path, one must seek guidance amidst uncertainty.

Legendary Creature - Avatar (R)
All nonland permanents are legendary.

3/3
Justice: The ham-fisted right arm of the law?
Hermit: Doesn't really feel that black regardless of how Lone Fox 'hermit' sounds like
Fortune: Interestingly different interpretation. Not fortuney enough imo
Hanged: Nice, but I think it should say "if a creature you control died last turn"
Atreyu1RG
Legendary Creature - Human (M)
Haste, trample T, Tap a permanent named Ivory Tower you control: Transform Atreyu.
3/2
/// Bastian
((W/U))Legendary Creature - Human (M)
Protection from Nothing
1/7
The Nothing4B
Legendary Enchantment - Nothing (M)
At the beginning of each player's upkeep, exile target non-Nothing permanent that player controls of his or her choice until The Nothing leaves the battlefield.
At the beginning of the end step, if no non-Nothing permanents are on the battlefield, exile The Nothing.
iiw: undead undead undead
The Nothing is nice, but slow (chances are you can keep playing permanents even while slowly losing one a turn)
Atreyu seems altogether too cute - a mediocre card with a really tiny interaction that doesn't actually do anything impressive until turn 300.
Masked Vigilante2RW
Creature - Human Rogue (R)
First strike, vigilance t: Masked Vigilante deals 1 damage to target creature or player.
Morph 1RW(You may cast this card face down as a 2/2 creature for 3. Turn it face up any time for its morph cost.)
2/2
IIW: so good to see you!
Body seems pretty efficient compared to average Tims (although there haven't been a lot of them lately, admittedly. Shame the morph doesn't let you vigilance into the ping after attacking.
The Avenger1W
Creature — Human Warrior [U]
Morph 1B
When you turn The Avenger face-up, if it's blocking a creature, it gets +6/+6 until end of turn. A wish to keep his home defended at any cost blackened what was once a noble cause beyond recognition.
2/2
IIW: What is truly evil?
The unmorph is actually a pretty white ability (as is the general concept of Vengeance). Not sure this needs to be black.
Temperance1GW
Legendary Creature - Avatar (R)
Creatures you control can't be the target of spell or abilities you control.
Creatures you control gets +2/+2 and has vigilance. You'll find the strength in the absence of things you liked the most.
3/3
iiw: futuristic goblin cards
This buffs itself. I think that's a little bit crazy since most of the time you won't be targetting your own guys anyway. This is an insane anthem effect for 3 mana.
Kai Arkyne, Bloodsucking Vampire 2BB
Legendary Creature - Vampire (M)
Lifelink
Morph 3BB
When Kai Arkyne, Bloodsucking Vampire is turned face up, put a -1/1 counter on target creature an opponent controls and a +1/+1 counter on Kai Arkyne, Bloodsucking Vampire.
At the beginning of you upkeep, you may put a -1/-1 counter on target creature an opponent controls. If so, put a +1/+1 counter on Kai Arkyne, Bloodsucking Vampire. Kai knew that they would eventually find out he wanted to suck their blood. He just wanted to make that when they were dying.
Usually Wizard's tends to not mix +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters together because it gets complicated. This guy seems okay, but I think you forgot to give him a power and toughness...
Bared Soul1W
Enchantment (R)
Spells targeting you and instant or sorcery spells you control that don't target with the word "you" in their text cost players 2 less to cast. "It gets so tiring, keeping one's true thoughts and feelings locked away."
-Shamot, destiny chaser
IIW: Can't we talk this out?
This card is really poorly worded. If I'm understanding correctly, it's every card that affects you, whether targets you or says "you" in the text, that becomes cheaper, right? It's a clever idea, but I had to read it three or four times, interpreting it three times differently, before I actually understood what it did. This is completely unprintable.
Temperance2W
Creature — Human Soldier (U) Arcana — When Temperance is revealed from any zone, you may exile it. If you do, you gain 7 life. W, T: Prevent the next 2 damage that would be dealt to target creature or player this turn.
2/3
The Hermit2U
Creature — Human Wizard (U) Arcana — When The Hermit is revealed from any zone, you may exile it. If you do draw two cards. U, T: Draw a card, then discard a card.
1/3
The Hanged Man2B
Creature — Human Cleric (U) Arcana — When The Hanged Man is revealed from any zone, you may exile it. If you do put a 2/2 black Zombie creature token onto the battlefield. B, T: Regenerate target creature.
2/2
The Fool2R
Creature — Human Rogue (U) Arcana — When The Fool is revealed from any zone, you may exile it. If you do, The Fool deals 2 damage to target creature or player. R, T: Target creature gets +1/+0 and haste until end of turn.
3/2
The World2G
Creature — Human Shaman (U) Arcana — When The World is revealed from any zone, you may exile it. If you do, search your library for a basic land card and put it onto the battlefield tapped. G, T: Put a 1/1 green Saproling creature token onto the battlefield.
2/3
In general, that's a pretty clever mechanic for Arcana. Has really cool potential although it would be a hassle to implement rules-wise.
The cards themselves are color cards. They use the mechanic nicely but they don't really represent their arcanas very well.
T: Target opponent reveals his or her library. You choose up to three creature cards revealed this way. That player puts the chosen cards into his or her graveyard.
No one is safe from finality.
3/3
IIW: Cards for Lifegain.dec
Revealing libraries seems like a pain - I think it's better if you just search your opponent's library.
This doesn't really feel like Death the Arcana - it's sorta killing ideas before they ever existed and... I dunno, that's just Lack of Life rather than Death.
The Persona Within3W
Legendary Enchantment (R)
When ~ enters the battlefield, name a creature.
Creatures you control that share the chosen name are Legendary and gain "You can't lose the game."
IIW: Something to do with wealth
Does it literally name a creature (one that you control), or a creature card (so you can play more)? I'm going to assume the latter, and it's an interesting card. Seems a little weak ("Dies to removal") since it doesn't do anything by itself.
Ending of a cycle — Loss — Conclusion — Sadness
Transition into a new state — Psychological transformation
Finishing up — Regeneration — Elimination of old patterns
Being caught in the inescapable — Good-byes — Deep change
@Winterspring: In that case, maybe this design encompasses those ideas much better?
Death4UW
Legendary Creature- Avatar (Rare)
When Death enters the battlefield, gain control of all creatures target opponent controls.
When Death leaves the battlefield, destroy all creatures.
An impossible choice: Die by the hands of your friends, or kill them yourself?
1/1
Good lord that card is ridiculous. I feel like Death The Arcana has to represent the human idea of death as much as the Arcana motion and this
I Don't Want to Google this Reference1WW
Enchantment (U) Battalion - Whenever you attack with three or more creatures, put a 4/4 white Angel token with flying onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. Exile that token at end of combat.
IIW: Devils!
Persona n (plural personae, personas).
...
(in the psychology of C. G. Jung) the mask or façade presented to satisfy the demands of the situation or the environment and not representing the inner personality of the individual; the public personality (contrasted with anima ).
Furtive Doppelganger1UU
Creature — Shapeshifter (R) 1U: Furtive Doppelganger becomes a copy of another target creature and gains this ability. Few have ever seen its true form.
0/1
IIW: Clever cards with evoke.
Few have ever seen its true form, except for you, your opponent and every creature on the battlefield when you actually cast it. I kid - this ability's pretty cool (although I could've sworn I've seen it somewhere before...)
Defender
As Mirror Agent enters the battlefield, search an opponent's library for a card and exile it facedown. Then that player shuffles his or her library.
When Mirror Agent dies you may cast that card without paying its mana cost.
0/3 Breaking mirrors around Esper often leads to more than bad luck.
===
IIW: Make a God from somewhere other than Theros.
Interesting, flavourful. I feel like it could be very very good against any deck that isn't garbage since it'll always get something good and probably relevant - grabbing anything = wow. That said, it doesn't do anything to a board-flood and doesn't threaten anything besides the spell, so it should be fine.
Now, technically, the challenge was "a hidden Persona" and Winterspring delivered 20 arcana cards rather than Personas, but since they were all good I'll kinda ignore it (it was in the spirit of the challenge, really)
So winner is Winterspring, if only for The Fool alone.
