It blows my mind that in the same month a design already as old as the suspend mechanic got enough votes (4) to win the day and then it continues to net votes simply by slapping it onto a body. Prophylaxis is a genius.
I guess that means WotC should explore using Suspend again eh?
I voted for Icarael's card, but I think the card is far too strong as is. I like the mindwipe mechanic, but I think it should only be one time. Knocking out four cards from a person's hand (even for a turn) is pretty vicious.
Thanks for the compliment Good luck to all the competitors, and thanks for everyone's votes and interesting cards to vote for over the month.
My final card was designed because I imagined a buddy-cop movie with a strait-laced Azorius rules stickler being paired up with a bitter, loose cannon Boros veteran, and the idea amused me (:
Great, now I'm going to have that image stuck in my head all day...
Although I think an "Odd Couple" show with an Izzet teacher and a snooty Azorious lawyer might be good too. They'd of course have a Selesnyan hippie for a neighbor next door.
What about the card that makes a spell "Epic"? Couldn't you just choose an "extra turn" card and then win out? (Assuming you had advantage in board control that is.)
Nope. The tokens aren't entering the battlefield from your hand. You get the one guy, plus the token copies for however much damage you've dealt. (It also means you don't get any copies of the guy for reanimating him, or when you flicker him.)
Ah, missed that detail. That's why I enjoy being in the custom card section... I learn so much about various MtG rules, and it also reminds me to read each card closely and carefully. (Not that I follow that advice all the time, obviously.)
Well, for one, you could put it in today's thread rather than yesterday's. Never mind, you got that covered.
Um... this is basically Mana Drain, except you get colored mana out of it. To be honest, I'd just have it add that spell's mana cost to your mana pool - granted, it works somewhat differently (you get colorless from X and generics rather than the mana your opponent spent, and you can switch hybrid mana up to the color that wasn't spent), but it's roughly the same.
The alternative is just "Add the mana spent to cast that spell to your mana pool."
And you don't need to let people get less mana out of it - mana burn isn't a thing anymore.
tl;dr: Either "Add the mana spent to cast that spell to your mana pool." or "Add that spell's mana cost to your mana pool."
Thanks Mdenham, that's what I was looking for. Cheers! And yes, as soon as I posted it, I was like... "Wait.. uhm.. that's not today, is it?"

Because taking time to think about how things would work on the stack is slightly longer to suss out than replacing "target" with "each".

I almost voted for yours actually. It was probably 3rd or 4th on my list.
