Seed Sparks3GG
Sorcery (M)
Put three loyalty counters on each land your opponents control. Those lands become planeswalkers in addition to their other types.
I wanted to vote for this card so badly. It's so creative. The mechanical implications and gameplay potential really got my imagination going! I just couldn't get past the flavor of turning lands into vanilla planeswalkers. I wish there was another means to the ends of this card.
Lich's Bargain4BB
Sorcery [M]
Exchange your life total with the number of cards in your hand. (For example, if your life total is 10 and you have five cards in your hand, you draw five cards and lose 5 life.)
Agonizing Demise2BB
Sorcery (R)
Destroy target creature. It's controller reveals his or hand. That player discards all cards with a converted mana cost less than the creature's that was destroyed this way. Best to flee such an end then to accept it.
Those work because they give you permission to do things you couldn't do normally. And in all cases of permanents doing this, they're static abilities, and this needs to be activated to make sense.
Do you not think that "You may sacrifice a creature any time you could cast an instant." makes sense and likewise gives permission just as much as if not more so than Sphinx of Jwar Isle?
That doesn't work at all. It HAS to be worded as an activated ability (i.e. have an ":" somewhere).
Perhaps my Mango was slightly off. It probably shouldn't have had the word "at" in it, which would have read
"You may sacrifice a creature any time you could cast an instant." Channel, Guardian Angel, also Sphinx of Jwar Isle and all things with flash.
And I imagine it would be a Construct tribal structure.
Once again I see no reason to discuss the monocolored white enchantment you want to submit next week over the white-black creature that actually was submitted.
The card doesn't break the color pie. It uses flavor to justify one valid color combination over another valid color combination that might be the preferred choice on a card without flavor.
I see no reason to look down upon a valid choice just because it's not the preferred choice - after all both Armored Pegasus and Storm Crow can exist without invalidating the other.
It's not like the submitted card is Willow Fairie. It's more like Gaea's Skyfolk.
I also assume nothing about the environment of the set that returns to Ravnica again.
EDIT: BTW:
Today's votes don't reflect the quality of today's cards. I felt none stood out, so I gave my two votes to people who previously where close third places this month to even out the inherent flaws of the current voting system.
Is there anything else you wouldn't like to discuss?
If anything, it'd be mono-white. Not sure where you're seeing blue or red.
The black seems to be there for flavor (Orzhov). That said, it's at odds with both current Orzhov mechanics (haunt and extort), since they're both triggered abilities.
That's true too Secret, though of course we know nearly anything can be justified with context and flavor. Piar says its for a custom cube, so it's probably the perfect color pair for that environment. But in the context of Ravnica - which is more often than not often the reference point for multicolored cards - it should indeed be monowhite for the very reason Yeef gives and because it gives the other WC guilds a weapon against Azorius and Orzhov. And I imagine it would be an enchantment.
In a vacuum, I'd agree the card should be :symwu:. However, the cards I've been posting this month are all from my custom cube as I printed them, so I left it :symwb:. In the cube I have fielding more of an Aven flavor, while hosts the rules-making that normally goes along with Azorius. Aven fliers seem like they'd want freedom more than rules... weird that the game allows for that in the same color pairs!
Ahh, my bad. I've been so Rav minded lately that I seemed to have forgotten that that's not all there is.

I'm not sure where you're seeing mono-white. Surely you must see where I'm seeing blue.
I was actually serious about wanting to see a game started where each month, 5-7 judges (who don't get to post cards for that month) do all of the voting.
The beta site will support the mechanics of this better (it allows for a "rating-style" poll with options of 1-5 for each entry, so the system would be "Rank the top four cards and give them 5, 4, 3, and 2; then give a 1 to all other cards") but I'd have to check a couple of other things about that first.

Triggered abilities don't trigger. “He bears a foreign orb within his staff. If any know its origins, they have not spoken of it. But the coffers of the Orzhov are deep, and their secrets are many.” — Anonymous Dimir Informant

This is bonkers. 1st Turn: Swamp, Lotus Petal, double Dark Ritual, Lich's Bargain, draw twenty cards. Destined to be banned and restricted. I love it!
Agonizing Demise
A red card that ineracts meaningfully with enchantments is rare even if it isn't rare.

Actually it was December.
It would probably be "You may sacrifice a creature at any time you could cast an instant."
Just to be clear, that was never my intention.
EDIT: "Phyrexian Charm"
